A Sul, velhas alianças esperam o tempo certo para s ...more

WELCOME TO ANOTHER EDITION OF "GEORGE RR MARTIN TOOK ALL MY HOPES AND DREAMS AND WIPED HIS MURDEROUS ARSE WITH THEM".

FEATURING CHAPTERS SUCH AS "WHY DO I EVEN BOTHER TO GET ATTACHED TO THE CHARACTERS IN THIS GOD FORSAKEN SERIES", "NO MR MARTIN PLEASE I LIKE THAT CHARACTER", AND MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE: "THERE IS NOTHING LEFT IN WESTEROS BUT SNOW AND CORPSES".

THIS ENTIRE SERIES WILL DESTROY YOUR SOUL, DO NOT READ

(On a lighter note, 10/10 can't wait for book 6! Definitely worth a read. Ensure you a

Look, I will always give these books 5 stars because I love the world so much and I've given so much time to read them and invested in the characters. But after reading this book, I am pretty angry, I still trust George to write this world but I'm starting to get sick of how he is dealing with some of the most important story lines, and most peoples favourite characters. I would never spoil anything, but certain things that he makes happen in this book made me question whether he even cares abou ...more

The chapters in all the GOT books are organized by character so that an alternative way to read the books is to do just and follow one character through each of the volumes, rather than read each volume from cover to cover as one would normally. Since each character follows part of the overall timeline they sometimes overlap each other's narrative, but most often not, and it is an interesting way to follow the various twists and turns of the plot through all the volumes not just this one.

This review concludes my thoughts on the series as a whole *with no plot spoilers for any of the 5 books*

It's been exactly 4 days since I've finished the last book of the epic fantasy series "A Song of Ice and Fire" known to everyone by the adapted TV series which carries the 1st book's name "Game of Thrones" and all that I can do now is to wait for the next one to be released, which is NOT an easy task! The books took me through this amazing journey in which I found myself really attached to th

The First Part of A Dance With Dragons fairly ripped along, but everything felt as though it came to a juddering halt with this book. Part of the problem, for me, is that while the sheer number of characters give it a sense of scale you never really get to spend too much time with any of them. The result of that is bigger gaps between each little event in their story, so there a lot of little increments but not nearly enough to drive through the plodding nature of things. Characters that you've ...more

Prebrinula sam i ovu muku :)

Oh my freaking hell!!!!! There literally isn't a single character George R.R. Martin won't kill off.

This book made me scream - IN PUBLIC!!

WHERE IS THE NEXT BOOK??!!

Several people told me before I started A Dance with Dragons that the second half of the novel was the better and boy, were they right. This was everything I have wanted from A Song of Ice and Fire- twists, turns, surprises, and something to think about- since finishing A Storm of Swords.

Some of the storylines I was hoping to see again in part two of A Dance with Dragons were not present, mainly (view spoiler)

Synopsis or something like that:

It is he fifth volume of A Song of Ice and Fire, the fantasy epic series which has been made very popular nowadays. If you have read the previous four parts you know that summarizing the fifth would be close to impossible; if you haven’t read any of them, well, just let me tell you no summary an no TV series can prepare you for the complexity of those books. In fact the plot is so convoluted as to defy synopsis. Really even the work of Tolkien pales in comparison.

So again, George R.R. Martin is unable to write a book that can be safely published as a single volume paperback. Perhaps somebody should explain to him that slightly smaller novels, published more regularly, might keep the haters at bay - heck it might even make it less of a chore for him to write. As with the split of A Storm of Swords the second book was the better part of the novel. Although less markedly so this time I thought.

The first third of the book continues pretty much where A Danc

I gave in, and bought the book. Dumb decision. Nothing happened (again) - nothing other than intrigue and character development. Over 900 pages of intrigue and character development. No real plot points at all. My theory behind the delay in publication of this book was that the author had no idea what to write anymore, and the book confirms it. It smells of the kind of BS I write in my papers when I just need to get something handed in. The longer the better, maybe the reader will be tricked int ...more

DAMN, THAT ENDING.
By far the best ending out of all of the endings in this series so far! The last 5 chapters were full of cliffhangers and death and just over all epicness.

For a while there I did think this one would be getting a 5.7/5 purely because I was mildly confused for a few chapters but then I got back on track pretty quickly and thank the Gods I did otherwise I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have understood anything that happened in that epilogue.

My only complaint was that there are still s

Mam wrażenie, że Martin byłby w stanie napisać książkę, gdzie każdy rozdział opisywałby inną postać i też wszyłoby świ ...more

Not writing much of a review of this one. It's mostly like the others, after all...
It didn't suffer from the fault of slowness of the last one -- which was, after all, only the first half of this one. Plenty happened, and it was all good stuff, and then it ended way too soon.

Those bloody massive appendices listing the entire cast of thousands might be useful (if a whole lot less useful than a wiki), but they also trick you into thinking there's a load of story left, so when you get to the end it

A Dance with Dragons: Part 2! I've finally caught up with the entire series! Now I guess I'm with the rest of the world wating for "The Winds of Winter" to be published. Damn.
I'll start off with some general remarks about the book. Not Sansa chapters at all. Why? Did her two chapters in "A feast for crows" covered that entire period for her? I don't think so. Now that she's got a particularly interesting storyline? Why? I want to know what's going on with th

GRRM has done it again. He’s ended the book on a massive cliff-hanger. Now I’m waiting with baited breath till The Winds of Winter.

The Plot

At the beginning of the book, Stannis has left Jon Snow to deal with Roose Bolton at Winterfell. He leaves Jon with Melissandre and his wife. It quickly becomes apparent that the southerners have no idea of the danger of winter, and the Others.

At King’s Landing, Cersei is forced to answer for her crimes by the High Septon.

Across the Narrow Sea, Arya is blind

*SPOILERS ALERT*!!

Finally I am caught up on The Game of Thrones series. I griped and grumbled on book 4, got a little happier with 5.1 and now a tiny bit happier with 5.2, but not much. I love Daenerys and Tyrion, this one made me even start to really like Ayra’s storyline but still I’m HATING the random people chapters!!! I thought long and hard on this and really if you look back at the first 3 books so much happened in the lives of the characters. With these two not a lot has happened. I get giving all these P ...more

Good? Yes. Satisfying? Not quite. OK there's a huge amount of stuff going on in the world of Ice & Fire and it would be unreasonable to expect it all to be resolved in this book but almost none of the numerous plots from 'Dance with Dragons' or 'Feast for Crows' are pursued to their conclusions and you are left with several massive cliffhangers at the end of this book.

But while the ending may leave you tearing your hair out in frustration the journey there is still pretty darn good. The main

George R. R. Martin and the Ever-Expanding Storylines.

So. Many. Storylines. And when did it become too easy for the title chapter to be the actual name of the person we were going to be reading about? I much preferred this to having to work it out based on what was going on.

But it does look like there is finally some forward motion in certain storylines that maybe haven't had so much momentum, and there were a couple of good cliffhangers. But still, this book is nowhere near up to the standards

This continues on where A Dance With Dragons Part One finished, bringing our timeline into place with where A Feast For Crows ended. Due to this we’re back to a full set of characters in this book: those in King’s Landing making a reappearance. I will say, I’m disappointed that I now have to wait for the next instalment as ending events for certain characters had me on the edge of my seat and rather riled that I wouldn’t be able to pick up the next book straight away and get my answers. George R. R. Martin was born September 20, 1948, in Bayonne, New Jersey. His father was Raymond Collins Martin, a longshoreman, and his mother was Margaret Brady Martin. He has two sisters, Darleen Martin Lapinski and Janet Martin Patten.
