Ugh. The marrying to join the military was a fresher twist to the marriage of convenience. The book lacked romance between Hatch and Angela as Angela was gone of stretches at a time. There was more relationship shown between Ryder (her son) and Hatch, which is fine, but this is a romance book, there should have been more between the H & h. I was annoyed when Angela got in a huff about Hatch buying the dog without talking to her about it and for her to turn around and get engaged (after meeti ...more

A bit on the lower end of 3 stars. I liked the characters and story well enough but I don't think having the story span that long a period of time worked all that well for this short a book.
Really good book. We met Angela in "Mitzi's Marine" when she showed up wanting to sign up for the Marines. Calhoun sent her to Hatch, which is where this book begins. Hatch originally had no intention of marrying Angela, but ended up doing it anyway. Then he ended up with custody of Angela's son whenever she was deployed. Over those six years they became friends, and Hatch became a wonderful father to Ryland. Whenever Angela came home there was always an adjustment period, but Hatch was always a ...more

An unusual meeting and marriage with a slow falling in love story. Hatch has more patience than most men, while Angela goes to war and matures. Add in a little boy who brings them together after they are married and you have the bases for this love story. A must read on my list.

Shelves: romance
A marriage of convenience between strangers slowly changed a withdrawn ex-navy SEAL to become a special dad, a most trusted friend, and a caring man well respected. This story had many light hearted moments and the heart strings were tugged on several times. It was unique to include a woman as the one who left home to go overseas on dangerous missions and the man safe at home.

Great book a little frustrating time with the characters, but it's well worth it.

An odd unlikely premise actually turned into a cute, engaging story.
