4 stars for this enjoyable Valentine's Day romance! A satisfying short story is rare in the Regency sub genre. This novella is book 4 in the Regency Escapades Series (see footnote). I have not read any other books in the series yet had no trouble following this one (I thought it was a stand-alone).

There be no spoilers in these waters...

This book involves characters in the Royal British Navy, particularly our dashing hero, Captain Payton Wilder (hence the title). Even though A Wilder Heart is s

This is a really sweet story.

We have a widow, Madeline, who must make a little extra money. She has a brilliant idea of creating and selling valentines for gentlemen to present to the lady of their choice.

Madeline's late husband had been a talented poet and she misses all they shared in their marriage.

I'm biased as my last name indicates. The writing is supple and elegant. The romance is a little quirky for a regency romance. Guys will like this one too, because there is a little British Naval action. The hero is a tough dude with calloused hands and a heart. The heroine is a hot widow who writes love poems and whose first husband is a dead poet.

enjoyed this book, wish it were longer. I also thought it might be part of her 'escapades series but it wasn't. does anyone know the first book in that series? that's my biggest gripe about amazon, not list in the book order in a series.

Not set amongst the "ton". It's about a captain and a widow. Clean and sweet. Not a lot of depth to side characters. Short story.
