*Gasp* I thought I'd reviewed this already. I guess it's lost somewhere on my computer...
Anyway, N.J. Nielsen is a breath of fresh air in gay literature. Her writing is fun and her characters, plots and twists are unique. Just what us avid readers are looking for, right? Damn right!
What I like about this story is that the characters are not the typical characters in gay romances. They feel very real and they have lives outside the romance itself. There are also more than just the two characters....more

Another short Christmas story with wonderful characters and plotting friends was just what I needed. They made me laugh, made me sad and by the last sentence I was rather happy for having read this book.
Marlowe is a man who just wants to be loved by that special someone. So when Angelo, his new neighbor, drops in on his birthday party and sweeps him off his feet he can't help it but fall for a straight guy.

This is a dumb and poorly written, but still kinda cute, GFY story about discovering love during Christmas in Australia. The first MC, Marlowe, is a flamer and often quite the drama queen. Over the course of the story he deals with not one but TWO stalkers, misguided relatives and friends, and a new best friend -- Angelo -- who keeps insisting that he's NOT GAY. In capital letters. With exclamation points.

Is it weird if I say that there is so much going on here, the story is so busy (I think there's uhm, first introduction as friends, a guy who stalks but end up being quite good, another stalk that ends up not as it seems, I think there's sex ....) but I still think it's an okay one?
Yes, I feel my eyes rolling with so many things being cramped into one place. Many plots that being introduced but the quickly dissolved and going nowhere ... but I don't dislike/hate these guys.

I would give this book 3.5 but have rounded it up to 4.
Marlowe is 21 and Angelo is 18, and atraight. The story deals with how they get together. The main thing that kept me reading this book are the characters. Marlowe, despite the crying is a likeable character, and Angelo at 18 is just coming into adulthood and exploring his first real relationship.
The supporting characters were likeable if a little scatty and crazy (re: the stalker issue!)

I HAD to read this book - I'm from Toowoomba! Every other book I've seen based in Toowoomba is non-fiction, most likely agricultural. Couldn't resist...
The storyline had promise but I feel the writer has yet to mature and work out how to pull characters and plot together effectively. It felt jerky and disjointed; incomplete in terms of style and flow.

This book is fun, if you don't take it too seriously. There is a lot going on, and was at times a bit busy for me, and Marlowe's crying and Angelo running hot and cold was a bit much to take.
Angelo's parents are over the top and I try to remember the MC's are 21 and 18, so i suspended disbelief and just went along for the ride.

I'll have to come back to this one, now I'm simply not in the mood for a Christmas story. :)

I loved Marlowe! This really was a sweet story - I cried, I laughed, I awwwed many times and I really wanted to smack the friends a few times.
