This book is extremely well written, and if you like murder mysteries and international intrigue, you will certainly get your money's worth here. Cameron Carter has a certain Sam Spade feel to him, and I liked that. It reminded me of the Aruba murder mystery, so it had modern relevance. I was a bit thrown out of the story by the gore and violence toward women. That is not my cup of tea, but it was certainly well written, so if you like that kind of story, you will definitely like this one.
Special Agent Ava Monroe is called in by local law enforcement in Rio de Janerio to help solve a series of murders committed again Americans. She soon discovers that the authorities operate outside the law and she ends up along with detective Cameron Carter learning their involvement in the case was already planned even before they knew it.
This book was an exciting read, it captures your attention its first sentences and I felt that I was in Rio participating in the action. Very enjoyable book.

You know me. I'm usually a fang and magic casting reader, but I siezed the opportunity to read this book when it was offered by the author.
It ended up being a fun read that didn't take itself too serious.
The two main charaters were interesting. Cameron is a detective that travels to Rio after being put on suspension. Ava is a federal agent assigned to Rio. There's some attraction there, which was fun. They end up working together on an exciting mystery.

It’s often said that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, and I never realized how true this was until I discovered Underneath the Palms of Rio by Brandon Collier. The eBook cover is bland in the extreme, but the writing certainly is not. The characters are engaging, the plotting is tight, and the story captured me from the start and carried me through to the exciting conclusion.
I loved this book from the start till the end! I have to say, I thought that crimi novels weren't really my thing; but this book proved me wrong. The first intriguing thing about this book is certainly the title, which sounds exotic and catchy. The author created a very realistic mood setting of the story, and it reads like a movie. If you are looking for a great crimi page-turner, this is it! Definitely worth the money.
