After a tragic stint in the National Guards, Adam Connelly returns to Idaho and to Belle Haven, the animal shelter he owns with his brothers. All Adam wants is to be alone. Then he opens the door to the past—the woman whose heart he once broke. Still gorgeous, still tough-as-nails, but this time, unusually vulnerable.

I love Jill Shalvis books. When I am in the mood for a sweet book that leaves me thinking about sugar pops, rainbows and unicorns....I read Jill Shalvis. Kind of like.....

Er...maybe not exactly like that....but you get the picture. I hope.

Rescue my Heart is the third book in Shalvis' Animal Magnetism series. This installment was yet another wonderfully crafted book with a funny and sweet heroine, hot and delicious alpha hero and a plethora of adorable animals who you can't help but

An open letter to 90% of Romance Novel Heroines:

If a man is too "tragic" or "damaged" or his childhood was "too difficult to overcome" and you have to BEG him to be with you, he's just not that into you. You are amazing. You're beautiful, but completely unaware of your charms. You have a smoking hot body, yet are able to eat whatever you want and never exercise. You love all children, animals and elderly people. You're smart, witty and utterly charming.

Liked it, didn't LOVE it like I did the first two. I just don't like women who chase after the men. And this heroine wasn't really all that bad but she sure didn't accept that the man she wanted wasn't interested in a relationship. I did get annoyed with Holly telling Adam that she basically knew what he ACTUALLY wanted, regardless of how many times he gently pushes her away. I also really don't like it when a female lead demands to be included in the super dangerous mission that she has no trai ...more

She shrugged and reached for her water. “If the shoe fits…”

ADAM!!!!!!!! This is my immediate response when anyone mentions Rescue My Heart. I can’t help it—I love him!

This is the third book in Shalvis’s Animal Magnetism series. It’s a story about trust. About growing up and realizing you don’t need to do or be everything on your own. That it’s okay to rely on someone else and let them see you for who you really are, warts and all. And when you fall apart, you still let them love you. Period.

Fantastic book. Adam is back in Sunshine after some time in the National Guard. His job there was Search and Rescue and his last mission with them had not gone well. He's been back home for two years, fighting to get back to normal. He's better than he was, but still not where he wants to be. One night he gets a visit from Holly, the woman he'd left behind after high school. He's seen her a few times since he's been back home and it never goes well. Now she needs his help to find her father.

The third book in Jill Shalvis' Animal Magnetism series. I have been ill the last few days and I don't know if that may have affected my enjoyment of this addition. Rescue My Heart features the romance of Adam Connelly and Holly Reid. They had a thing going 12 years before but Adam left after a tragic accident. Adam is determined not to open his heart to love. Holly was heart broken when Adam left all those years before and she is doing her best to get on with her life. But Holly needs Adam to h ...more

How could you go wrong with dogs, rescues, hunky damaged souls and patient kind women ? You can't, this book was a cool ride down a river with some rapids thrown in for goose-bump moments. I love this author, she alway tugs at the heartstrings but leaves them in a beautiful bow.

I found this book okay at best. I had high hopes for the story but the author never took it anywhere interesting. The past history between Adam and Holly was dull and silly considering they were both teenagers. Holly's ex-husband was pulled in awkwardly and simply as a plot device. The big search for Holly's dad was dull as can be and simply a way for Holly and Adam to go to bed right away.

Despite all the angst that was suggested in Holly's life, none of it was explored with any depth. Even Adam
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you... Adam Connelly!

Sweet baby Jesus, he was built. As a teenager, he’d been lanky lean, almost too lean, though even back then the breadth of his shoulders had indicated he had more growing to do.

He’d come into that promise. He’d filled out in all the right places, leaving his body as good as a body could get, born from a life of outdoor, physical labor. Dark eyes, dark life.

Recommends it for: Fans of second chance romances
Sigh! I wanted to like this book so much. Unfortunately, I didn't like this book at all.

If you are a fan of second chance romances, you might enjoy this book. I am totally not.

What I did like about this book:

-> THING 1 and THING 2( the two dogs currently taken care by Mr.Donald Reid, Holly's father)
-> Milo, Adam's dog.

Can you see a pattern here? It seems I only like the animals in this book and not the story itself!

What I did not like about this book:

I’ve been a fan of this series since the first book, and as usual, the most intriguing character always gets the last book. The anticipation was high, and unfortunately the book wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be. But it was entertaining, and the hint to a new couple brought me back to the place I was before reading the book: anticipating the next entry.

I love Jill Shalvis' books and she is an auto-buy for me. I couldn't wait to read this next book in the Animal series, but I have to say that I was a tad bit disappointed in it. I really can't put my finger on the problem for me, either. The heat between the main characters was there. The story seemed real enough and not unimaginable. The previous characters from the previous books in the series were there too, which is always a good thing. But there was something about Adam and Holly t

I love the Lucky Harbor series so was truly surprised at how disappointing this book was. The best part was the dogs and dog training snippets but as for the story, it fell flat.

I didn't care much for the characters or their motivations. The author told the same relationship backstory two or three times from different perspectives for both Adam and Holly, Holly and her Dad, Adams brothers and their partners. It felt like a lot of filler. Anyway, I skipped quite bit after about th

Rescue My Heart is a perfect example of that and I enjoyed every minute of Adam and Holly's story. I'm a huge fan of the Lucky Harbor series but I think I might have to say I'm enjoying this one even more, I think it's the cute animals and their crazy antics that add that little extra something but that wouldn't work without the fanta ...more

Thanks to the publisher, Berkley, and NetGalley for the chance to read this early!

I admit upfront that I am a huge, Jill Shalvis fan…I love her Lucky Harbor series. Then, Lucky me, I discovered this series…I read them out of order – reading Rescue My Heart first, then Animal Magnetism, then Animal Attraction. It didn’t bother that they were out of order (each can be read as standalone), but you don’t want to miss neither Brady nor Dell’s journey.

Another solid read from Jill, though I never expect any less.

I went into this cautiously. Animal Magnetism was, I think, my all-time favorite Shalvis book. And after reading 30+ books from her, that's a tall order. There was just something about Brady and Lilah that I clicked with. My expectations when I read Animal Attraction, therefore, were astronomical. And I wasn't wowed by it. I mean, any Jill book is going to be good, and I liked it, but it didn't blow me away. So, when I started

Rescue My Heart is the third book in the Animal Magnetism series by Jill Shalvis. As much as I loved the first two books this definitely is my favorite so far. Adam and Holly were a fantastic couple and their journey towards their HEA was charming. Like Dell and Brady in the first two books, Adam had his own demons to conquer and Holly's tender loving care and compassion for Adam's panic attacks really endeared her to me. Having grown up with an overbearing father, Holly had her own issues to wo ...more

Rescue My Heart is the third book in Jill Shalvis’ Animal Magnetism series and finally we get to read about Adam. Usually when I read a trilogy there is one couple that is more anticipated than the others and for me and this series it was Adam. Holly and Adam have a past and that makes it even better for me. I love reading two characters that are familiar with each other but have obstacles to get around. And honestly, I love reading Jill Sha

A sweet romance but the various plot elements are never completely realized despite their potential.

While Adam is the sexiest and most endearing hero in the series thus far and the portrayal of his PTSD is authentic and believable, his teen romance with Holly is under-developed and his relationship with his mother is lacking background and detail. Moreover, the search for Holly’s father starts out well but ultimately fizzles and the inclusion of her stalkerish ex ends up
Rescue My Heart was the one I liked the least from the Animal Magnetism series so far.

I liked the way the author portrayed Adams PTSD which was done very well and Holly was great as a heroine, there was no whiny poor me, self pity from her character but I thought the main characters, Adam and Holly had less heat and romantic connection then the couples from the previous two books.

Overall it was a very enjoyable, fun, light-hearted contemporary read.
We also get to see a hint of a new couple, Grif

I really like this series! I love the characters! Jill Shalvis' books always seem to make me feel good - this one certainly did! Adam was so wounded and was just sure that keeping his heart distant was the best way to protect it. Sort of takes all the joy out of life though. Holly loved Adam when she was younger and loved his still - took her awhile to get through her anger with him to get back to that though. Their journey back to each other was wonderful. She moved to walk around him but he caught her wrist.

I'm not too chicken," she said. "I know exactly what I want. I honestly thought I could do this with you, the whole friends-with-benefits thing." She slowly shook her head, her eyes suspiciously shiny. "But as it turns out, I can't. Now with you, Adam. With you, I want it all."
"It's not that simple for me," he heard himself say.
"Of course it is. Life is as simple as you make it, Adam. You're born. You live. You die. I don't plan on dying without doing the living part, though.”
