WOW!! I mean, could these books get any better??? YES!!!
Scorched Skies is absolutely amazing!! From beginning to end, you are dying to know what happens and now that I have reached that end, the next book can't get here fast enough...
Ari, Jai, and Charlie's lives pick up where Smokeless Fire ended and within this book you get to see so much growth out of each of these characters. And these characters don't deal with small battles or small emotional dramas, they are hit with big, life altering,...more

This book was on my kindle for a long time (2 weeks or something. That's long for me.) before I finally started reading it. I was pretty disappointed in the first book in the series so I wasn't really motivated to start the sequel.
Turns out I liked the sequel even less than the first book. Ari was super annoying all the time, complaining about Jai and Charlie, her situation in general and everything else, too. She expected everyone to do what she wanted them to and sulked when they didn't. She e...more

Scorching! Having the adult POV is definitely worth it for these sexy scenes. Reading it from Ari's POV was a bit fluffy but Jai really was more direct with his feelings. LOL, I was afraid he was going to self-combust, he was in such a fire!
Definitely a must read if you were dissatisfied with the events of book 2. This will give you something to tie you over until you read book 3. :)

Loved this continuation to this series! I liked it better than the first, I think. A lot happens. I could not put it down; from beginning to end. So many things are not going as Ari ever expected them to be. Having her father finally be honest with her after finding out the truth about what she is, he tells her he wishes he had been there more for her and basically only kept her because it was the only tie he had to Sala, Ari’s mom. That was hurtful to read/hear because it’s like telling her he...more

You know there was a time I wanted to be a witch (coz they’re freaking awesome) werewolf/lycan/shifter (seriously who wouldn’t want to be one?) then I wanted to be a nephilim (seriously? I don’t have to justify that...), oooooh then there was angels (yeah I’m pretty sure being devil’s incarnate does not qualify for this), then there was fey, warriors, necromancers and so forth BUT now I am a 100% sure that I want to be Jinn!!! Another great installment in this series, it just keeps getting better and better and I am loving some of the new characters (Fallon) and we are finally getting to see more of the other kings.
Though it is "that" book in the series where there is a lot of doom & gloom, but it is of course needed for the good on the other side.
Straight on to the next one in the series :)

This book took several days for me to get through it. I found parts of it sucked me in and held me and other parts really dragged and I had a hard time staying engaged.
That said, once I finished it, I did enjoy it. It got really good towards the end and the drama was starting to unfold. Well, you know, after several murders/killings a kidnapping by a half cousin of sorts, some fighting, a lot of magic, and some twisted conspiracies from family (you know, dads uncles and grandfathers).

The most beautiful about this book was the descriptions. Her use of different action words to describe what the eyes did, such as snag. "Her arid and pained eyes found nothing to snag upon as they swept the vast emptiness around her." "It was like his eyes were a fish hook. All he needed to do now was reel her in." Some other very well and different descriptions were: "The shadows bled from the garden . . ."; ". . . the tiny diamond in his right ear that was winking in the sun. . ."; "The pain e...more
Yet another fantastic book I couldnt put down!
After reading Smokeless Fire I immediately bought the second in the series and read it within a day! On to the third very soon...
Ari has so much to cope with already. The loss of her only family, the loss of Charlie to his many addictions, loss of her friends and normal teenage life and it doesnt get any easier in Scorched Skies. Before I go on I have to say the titles to these books are great and the covers are beautiful. They were the first things...more

This is like the best Jinn story ever! Ha! Okay considering this is my first Jinn story. Well if Aladdin doesn't count. Haha!
So many painful emotions! I think this is better than the first book because they bare it all! All of them showed what they really feel.
I really do love you, kid. I guess I just never loved you enough.

So Ari is finally coming to terms with being a Jinn, but now her father knows the truth and it's putting a major strain on their relationship. All she wants is for him to love her, but that might not be enough.
After another tragic event, Ari has to go on the run from a dark sorcerer, who wants to use her for his evil purposes. Being chased is absolutely no fun and being accompanied by two boys behaving like 10 years old doesn't make it any easier.

Lovidy love love. I was a big fan of book 1, save it wasn't really a stand-alone-book.
That's really the only complaint I could come up with on this one, too. You could maybe get the story without reading the first book, but you really will have to read the second one for the followup!
And I didn't know that was Charlie on the cover without reading the notes in the back.
Okay, on to the ERRYTHING ELSE. I loved this book. Ari is trying to be strong, inside and out. She's trying to prove that she c...more

Good Points: I definitely liked this book better than the first which I thought was a little slow. The relationship Ari has with each character seems to grow stronger in this book (like they should) and we get to see the struggle as Ari copes with the hardships of losing everything she's ever known.
I think the pacing of this book was much better than the first and as a reader you always knew what direction the book was heading in like the task in hand and finding the new threats identities. It w...more

Ahhh! I REALLY enjoyed this one! I enjoyed this one more than book one—which I also very much enjoyed.
Once again, I loved the Mythos (been interested in Djinn/Jinn for a while now), I loved Ari and Jai (yes, I’m a fan!). I also really liked Fallon, and I hope she becomes part of the core group, you know, balance out the male/female ratio. What can I say about Ari and Jai this time around? “YAY!” is all. Those who have read it know what I mean—and.that.one.scene—ahem.

I liked this book a lot more than the first one. Ari finally developed a back bone and I'm very intrigued about the darkness in her. I think it sounds like a great direction to take the story. I also liked that she finally made a decision to go for what and who she wanted and be damn the consequences. She finally became the ballsy character that you could see was hiding under all those layers in the first book. I was a big fan of Young's other series, The Warriors of Ankh but this series is so m...more

What I like about this series, is that it's a little different than the typical paranormal/fantasy book. It's about the mysterious and powerful Jinn. That's a nice change from the usual vampire/werewolf breed. This story is also full of surprises, I literally have no idea what's going to happen in the end. Samantha has created a very believable world.
My one complaint about this series is that the romance takes too long to reach fruition. There's too much back and forth, back and forth on why it...more

I really really enjoyed this book and it was even better than the previous book. It picks up right where Smokeless Fire ended and I once again, got swept up in the world that Samantha had created. The mythology in this book is definitely one of my favourite parts of the book, because it’s quite original and there is something really exotic about it. I have never read a book about jinn before and it was really refreshing. The plot is great and develops at a perfect pace. There is never a dull mom...more
I am a big supporter of independent authors and some of the most creative stories are coming from this group. However, there is one thing that bothers me about independents more than anything issue and that is editing problems. As much as I enjoyed "Scorched Skies" I was bothered by the typos and other errors.

In this second book, Ari is hunted down by one power hungry sorcerer and a powerful demon but still unclear as what he's motivations are. Ari relationships also narrow down and we know where she stands. She's stronger in this book. Great read and really like the Fire Spirits serie and the writing is superbe!
The White King has crossed the line, sounded the horn, sent out the wolves.
When blood is shed and life is lost the reality of Ari’s position as both hunter and prey finally sets in. It seems her father will stop at nothing to force her will to his own and distracted by Charlie’s latest mistake and her seemingly misguided attraction to Jai, Ari never thought to fear anyone else but the Jinn King.

Needless to say, I'm a huge fan of Samantha Young.. As is evident by my broadcasting all the freebies we got this Christmas.
This second installment of the Fire Spirits truly did not disappoint.
As I said in my review of Smokeless Fire "Finding out you're adopted is hard but finding out you're not human together with it... how much can a girl take? Lucky for Ari she has a hunk for a bodyguard and a teenage first love to help her remain sane." Ari's character developed into a modern day heroine t...more

AHHHH, I love this series. Smokeless Fire was the first book of hers I read, so I’ve been waiting for this sequel! And I love that it’s more than just a trilogy. It makes sense, though, because this is such an epic storyline. It doesn’t seem like it could be resolved in just three books. Thousands of years and dozens of players in this.

Appropriately titled, Scorched Skies by Samantha Young was a lot more intense than the preceding book.
I seriously wanna start off with the most endearing thing that I’ve felt for the book, but nah, I would try to be more objective first on the plot.
1. What’s good about Samantha Young’s writing is that there’s a cohesive flow in the books. Her books are not treated as standalone, but a one long thread of destinies sewn together. There’s always a precedent and consequence to every deed or action....more

I LOVED this book! It was amazing. I like YA fiction and the first book caught my attention earlier this year and I was eagerly awaiting Scorched Skies. I was not disappointed, as it was even better than the first. There was more action, more knowledge and more romance and I loved every second of it. It was too short for me though and ended too quickly, which I guess just shows how good it was. I loved all the characters; they are all so genuine, consistent and thorough. This book was amazing compared to the first one. The first book was really good dont get me wrong but this book blew it out of the water. First off I loved that you got to meet Trey! He is one of the best characters to read about because of his attitude. Ari is getting more in her element about her powers and turning into a strong woman and not a scared little girl and she is trying to make that known in this book. Then you got Charlie who has all of a sudden decides now he wants Ari, when Ari h...more
This stunning sequel takes off at a run and sets your heart racing and sputtering at the stealth in which Samantha nails us with her first devastating blow. Ari's heart is once again broken and she's forced to go on the run to hide from her pursuers.
