WOW!! I mean, could these books get any better??? YES!!!
Scorched Skies is absolutely amazing!! From beginning to end, you are dying to know what happens and now that I have reached that end, the next book can't get here fast enough...

Ummmm...Where to start?

This book was friggin" awesome!! I loved every minute of it. I must say that I have enjoyed all of Sam Young's books so far and this one did not disappoint. This book was an amazingly entertaining read.

Everything about it...The action, the romance, the characters...Everything well-written and the story well-told.

I will say this, I will gladly devour ANYTHING that this author writes..With pleasure!!!

Okay...Ready for book three, like YESTERDAY!!

so yes i read the book in one sitting and then i was too hyped up to write a review!
there are some books that we set out to crush your expectations. this book wasnt one of them. to say scorched skies exceeded my expectations is a gross understatement. it went above and beyond my expectations, and made those hours without sleep so totally worth it!
from the first page itself it had me hooked. The book was in a word amazing!
The Plot was good, intresting and had so many twists that it kept me guessing and constantly on my toes!Some of the things in this book were completly unexpected.
This book wouldent be what it was if it werent for the amazing cvahracters.
Ari has matured so much as a character in this book. I was proud of the fact that she has decided to stop running and hiding and has finaly decided to face things head on! her ability to cope with situations has certainly improved, and i really liked her in this book!
Charlie. We get a glimpse of the old charlie in this book. how he was before the death of Mike. Charlie has come a long way from book one. and i love this funny, carefree,determined,driven,sweet, playful charlie soo much better! Loved the flash back with Mike!
Jai!!!..We get to see into his murky past and understand why he is the way he is. To be honest, Jai was in a word, an idiot in this book!! The number of times he pushed Ari away!!!! AAAAGGGHHHH!@!!!!!!
He did come to his senses in the end though...!! I loved him as always. even at times when i wanted to seriously shake some sense into him!!
I loved the growing relation between Jai and Ari and also the Corroding one between Charlie and Ari. Iam glad though that they decided to remain friends.
Some new characters in this book...may i just say that i want to KISS Trey??? Can he get any adorable????? He was my mosty favourite character in this book!! and i hope we get to see more of him..another new character was Fallon. I am glad that shes with charlie. shes just what he needs and i love her!!
There was only one major dissapointment in this book..two words: Cliff Hanger!!!!!
All in all, this was a most excellent book!! Cannot wait for the next book!!!!!(less)

This book was on my kindle for a long time (2 weeks or something. That's long for me.) before I finally started reading it. I was pretty disappointed in the first book in the series so I wasn't really motivated to start the sequel.

Scorching! Having the adult POV is definitely worth it for these sexy scenes. Reading it from Ari's POV was a bit fluffy but Jai really was more direct with his feelings. LOL, I was afraid he was going to self-combust, he was in such a fire!

Definitely a must read if you were dissatisfied with the events of book 2. This will give you something to tie you over until you read book 3. :)

First things first: THIS BOOK WAS...

You know there was a time I wanted to be a witch (coz they’re freaking awesome) werewolf/lycan/shifter (seriously who wouldn’t want to be one?) then I wanted to be a nephilim (seriously? I don’t have to justify that...), oooooh then there was angels (yeah I’m pretty sure being devil’s incarnate does not qualify for this), then there was fey, warriors, necromancers and so forth BUT now I am a 100% sure that I want to be Jinn!!! Ok so who wouldn’t want to be one after reading this book especially if you get guys like Jai...
Come to think of it, Jai reminds me of Jace (from Cassandra Clare’s Immortal instruments series), you know the brooding and all that hotness intensified/personified plus all that capability and asshole-ness, obviously you know you can’t help but love them.
What I’m should have said before I caught up with Jai was that Samantha Young’s characters are worth fawning over, Caia and Lucien then Eden and Noah and now Ari and Jai. Young’s intricate details in her books definitely got me wanting more!

The book starts off with Ari’s dream followed by her confronting her dad who’s become a recluse. Then she reflects on her feelings for Jai who gives her the news that there are consequences to the magic she uses. Suffice to say, Ari’s dad is not really in the picture after the first few chapters they find out a sorcerer named Dali who happens to be a cousin of Ari, who is after her. Ari, Jai and Charlie are soon in LA with Jai’s family for protection. There’s also a the little fact that Charlie is a sorcerer now, since he made the wish he has to learn how to control his powers and so does Ari but first they need to learn how to fight. Together Ari, Charlie and Jai try to sort their love problems out all while staying alive at the same time. Of course they also have the help of the Red King.

I have to say that I truly liked Ari’s character, especially when she told Charlie she’s not in love with him in the beginning, it was quite admirable that she didn’t string him along, you know the I-can’t-have-the-guy-I-want-so-I-will-settle-for-this-guy then followed by the I-have-to-break-your-heart-now-because-I-can-be-with-the-guy-I-really-want. The fact that she didn’t encourage/lead-him-on, Charlie like some other heroines we all know (Bella and Rose namely) was great because I’m sick of that happening. Another remarkable thing about this books is that it captures you attention from the beginning (not at all surprising since Young is an awesome writer) and it doesn’t only focus and hold your attention to the love story but the folk lore as well. I think that you would agree Young has a way with folk lore in her books that you can’t help be fascinated with it. as a reader you would want to change certain things about a book most of the time (obviously those aren’t 5 star books) but I find that Young does an excellent job prevents that from happening, so it’s safe to say this prose does not need work or the storyline either. It goes without say that I loved the book and it was definitely worth the weight.

Another great installment in this series, it just keeps getting better and better and I am loving some of the new characters (Fallon) and we are finally getting to see more of the other kings.
Though it is "that" book in the series where there is a lot of doom & gloom, but it is of course needed for the good on the other side.

This book took several days for me to get through it. I found parts of it sucked me in and held me and other parts really dragged and I had a hard time staying engaged.

That said, once I finished it, I did enjoy it. It got really good towards the end and the drama was starting to unfold. Ari is wanted by many of the Jinn for being the mythical Seal of Solomon, a magical weapon that can control good and evil Jinn. As well as her real father The White King and Azazil, she is also wanted by some of the other kings. The Gleaming King's son is obsessed with power and Hell bent on capturing Ari and using her power for himself. Who ever has Ari has the power to control other Jinn and more.

Charlie has become obsessed with his new magical abilities as well as revenge on the Jinn who killed his little brother two years ago. Ari cant believe that, even though he says he loves her,he doesnt love her more than the idea of killing the Jinn. Jai tries to push her away even though his love for her is consuming. Ari hates that she is just a weak little girl to them and is determined to become the Hunter instead of always being the Hunted.

This book, yet again, kept me rivited. I refused to put it down until the end and hated the thought of it ending. Every book I read is one book closer to the end of the series. I love Ari's character so much. She doesnt always make the right choices, she is weak at times, strong at others but altogether she is caring and loving despite how she is treated. Jai, my favourite character, is tortured and abused and full of passion and love he tries to bury. The romance is steamy and always keeping you on the edge of your seat, Will they kiss now? Won't they? Damn why did their moment get interrupted!! its deliciously frustrating and I can't wait until Ari and Jai can finally be together, I even hope Charlie finds someone too.

Samantha Young has a great writing style and a great sense of her characters personalities and feelings. You can tell she understands them and knows them inside out. I hope Ari grows ever stronger and I truly hope her and Jai can be happy. I havent felt this excited for a series since I read the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.(less)

Lovidy love love. I was a big fan of book 1, save it wasn't really a stand-alone-book.
That's really the only complaint I could come up with on this one, too. You could maybe get the story without reading the first book, but you really will have to read the second one for the followup!

Good Points: I definitely liked this book better than the first which I thought was a little slow. The relationship Ari has with each character seems to grow stronger in this book (like they should) and we get to see the struggle as Ari copes with the hardships of losing everything she's ever known.

Ahhh! I REALLY enjoyed this one! I enjoyed this one more than book one—which I also very much enjoyed.

Once again, I loved the Mythos (been interested in Djinn/Jinn for a while now), I loved Ari and Jai (yes, I’m a fan!). I liked this book a lot more than the first one. Ari finally developed a back bone and I'm very intrigued about the darkness in her. I think it sounds like a great direction to take the story. It's a nice change from all the witches, vampires and fallen angels I have been reading. Young has created a captivating world full of the magic of the east and it's fascinating.

The part with her Dad was sad and I felt Ari's frustration and loneliness but I liked how instead of falling apart she fought back. I thought it was a nice touch for both her and Kai to face their family demons in this book and come out stronger characters. I am also happy she ended the love triangle because Charlie was just annoying. He was not good enough for Ari (view spoiler).

What I like about this series, is that it's a little different than the typical paranormal/fantasy book. It's about the mysterious and powerful Jinn. That's a nice change from the usual vampire/werewolf breed. This story is also full of surprises, I literally have no idea what's going to happen in the end. The mythology in this book is definitely one of my favourite parts of the book, because it’s quite original and there is something really exotic about it. I have never read a book about jinn before and it was really refreshing. The plot is great and develops at a perfect pace. I liked that this book was written in third person, even though I usually prefer first person, because it allowed us to see everything going on with the Jinn kings and I find their scenes quite entertaining because they all hate each other so much. The dialogue is funny, witty and clever and I loved Samantha’s writing style.
Ari is one of the best protagonists i have read and i loved all of her interactions with the other characters and i love how she handles situations where Jai and Charlie are being jerks or bossy. She is pretty kick ass and totally relatable. Jai was HOT! In this book, we get to learn even more about him and his past. It really made me feel sorry for him, but it also made me understand why he pushed away Ari so much, cuz at one point, I was starting to get a little pissed at him for constantly rejecting her. Charlie was really fun to read too and his character builds up more too. I liked him more in this book, than the previous one. Red is my favourite character, even though it can be a little hard to work out where his loyalties lie and when we can trust him. He was in this book a lot, so that certainly pleased me :)
Finally, Samantha Young is an AMAZING author and i have loved every single book of hers. Her series definitely deserve more attention. If you haven’t read this series or any other books by her, i would suggest that you give them a go - you'll love them. She's a wicked author!

I am a big supporter of independent authors and some of the most creative stories are coming from this group. However, there is one thing that bothers me about independents more than anything issue and that is editing problems. As much as I enjoyed "Scorched Skies" I was bothered by the typos and other errors.

In this second book, Ari is hunted down by one power hungry sorcerer and a powerful demon but still unclear as what he's motivations are. Ari relationships also narrow down and we know where she stands. She's stronger in this book. Great read and really like the Fire Spirits serie and the writing is superbe!

AHHHH, I love this series. Smokeless Fire was the first book of hers I read, so I’ve been waiting for this sequel! And I love that it’s more than just a trilogy. It makes sense, though, because this is such an epic storyline. It doesn’t seem like it could be resolved in just three books. Thousands of years and dozens of players in this.

It doesn’t seem like it could be resolved in just three books. Thousands of years and dozens of players in this.

The romantic tension between Jai and Ari is GREAT. They have just enough keeping them apart but so much chemistry. (view spoiler)

I love the political stuff going on -- everyone has their own agenda, and you’re just not sure who to trust or root for. People are kind of slippery, and anyone who is fighting for Ari is kind of fighting against her at the same time. Jai is the only one I trust to truly be on Ari’s side, and I hope they don’t do something drastic to break off her relationship with him.

And okay, I love Samantha Young, but I’ve been noticing a pattern in her series. . .possible spoilers!
- Girl with strange parentage and special powers
- Boy in a protective role
- Some kind of war and struggle with big players who each have their own agendas, but the girl is a key role in said war
- Girl is a virgin while boy isn’t and has possibly been a “player”
- In the first book (sometimes at the beginning of the second), the boy does something unforgivable and so the second book is about the two of them rebuilding trust and proving he really does care about her

Does this sound familiar?? Yeah, I thought so. I wonder if Slumber follows the same formula. . . but hey it is super entertaining and great writing, so I’m not about to stop reading anytime soon! I like these characters/stories so much! :)(less)

Shelves: matter-of-life-and-death, sets-boyfriend-standards, so-much-tension-it-hurts, supernatural, swoon-inducing

Appropriately titled, Scorched Skies by Samantha Young was a lot more intense than the preceding book.

I seriously wanna start off with the most endearing thing that I’ve felt for the book, but nah, I would try to be more objective first on the plot.

I LOVED this book! It was amazing. I like YA fiction and the first book caught my attention earlier this year and I was eagerly awaiting Scorched Skies. I was not disappointed, as it was even better than the first. There was more action, more knowledge and more romance and I loved every second of it. This book was amazing compared to the first one. The first book was really good dont get me wrong but this book blew it out of the water. First off I loved that you got to meet Trey! I did promise you heartache. And there is plenty. But there is also hope in unexpected alliances and new found friendships. There are enough twists and turns to keep you on edge, fully engaged and turning the page anticipating what's next. Of course you never really see what's coming. That's the beauty of this story. Just when you think the crew might catch a break, find a resolution or have a chance to explore their relationships further...well, you can never really let your guard down, can you, Ari? That's usually when all hell breaks loose. And of course you have to end with a good cliffhanger. Which Sam does. I'm now dying for the release of Borrowed Ember. I have to know where this is going, where it all ends and if Ari and Jai find their happy ever after. They do, don't they?? You'll just have to wait (impatiently) with me and see.(less)
