Another great installment to this series!
Once again I could not be moved from my laptop.
I love Brawn he is such a sweetheart. There are a few tender moments in this one between Brawn & Becca that had me a little teary eyed. The suspense/drama, while again, not too deep still breathed life into this story. The ending had me laughing as well.
If you are following this series then I would recommend this read.

These books are certainly cute and entertaining in a fluffy mind-candy sort of way; but there’s nothing in them very deep, like say...a new story. After this many books in the series, there should be some kind of growth in the plotlines and writing, but it’s the same old stuff. This story was just a bit different, with the promise of a good plot; and was interesting during the small amount of time spent in the labs. However, as with all the books; if the author found some little hook she liked,...more

**Reread, excellent story. Brawn is so delicious in this story, his blunt way of speaking and vulnerability when it comes to worrying if Becca will accept him makes your heart go flip flop.

I think this might just be my favorite in this series so far! I REALLY loved Brawn...and i loved how protective he was of Becca when they were held captive. I also actually liked Becca. After reading some reviews i was expecting her to be extremely un-likeable (i really need to stop reading reviews before i read a book, especially when the book hasn't been rated so well...not that people don't have a right to their opinions if they've disliked something...i just think when there are negative com...more
This series seems to have a serious obsession with babies. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's kind of starting to bore me. I usually read historicals, and at least in those, there's a legitimate reason for wanting an heir right now. In contemporaries, though, it just seems odd to me that people who have just married and are in love would immediately want children. (Okay, that wasn't the case for this book, but 4/5 of the couples so far have children/are pregnant, and half of the...more

Wish I could give it more than 5 stars:) Im so glad I decided to read this series I love everything about it:)
This book was a little more emtional, we got to see first hand on some of what the new species had to go through when they were locked up! Brawn swore he would never get with a human female but when they were locked up together it was so sweet how he said he would go through thier horrible torture just to spare her the torment and how she was determend to stay and die just so he could fr...more

I totally enjoyed this book. I liked the way that Brawn was so gentle with her and protective of her. I liked the outgoing say anything heroine. I continue to really enjoy this series. The men are just always so sweet. I've read some reviews that said the stories are really similar to each other plot wise but I don't care at all. In fact I like it. I like stories where the man is some paranormal something and the woman is human and the book is about them meeting and her learning to deal with his...more
I'm being really generous by giving this book in the series 3 stars.
The beginning was really funny of Becca and her Dad fighting and how Brawn hears everything that Becca says. They get settled in the same house and retire for the evening and then it all goes to hell. Don't get me wrong I REALLY liked Brawn...and I loved how overprotective he was of Becca when they were held captive. What they both went through and how close they got and that Brawn find out that humans aren't actually that bad....more

I have read the first books of New Species and have to say that this and Justice are my least favorite and I am not going to read any more from the series.
I got really annoyed halfway through of the repetitive friction and misunderstandings between characters. (One of the reasons Valiant is my favorite, becouse it is all straight forward and out there.)
In Brawn, Brawn and Becca want to be together and even after they are ´safe´ even their own people keep them apart 'for thier own good'.

I think these books get better with every new release in the series. I am really glad I continued with the series. I liked Becca and Brawn's story. They definitely had an unconventional start to a relationship, but it was nice watching feelings develop under dire circumstances.
I had two small issues with this book. THe first, I wanted Becca to have a chance at retribution with the jerks who kidnapped her. I was a little disappointed that (view spoiler)...more

Given it is so rare for me to read a book that doesn't have at least one spanking implement in it or man on man action it surprised me that I continue to love this series. It is the same old thing but that's o.k. if it works. Clearly it does for me. I liked Brawn quite a bit - and Becca o.k. At first I thought she was going to be a kick-ass heroine but, as it turns out, not so much although she did show spunk (and no I'm not saying anything else about that word right now...). I will admit that t...more
Brawn is easy to forget compared to the other characters.
I had to take a break from these series because Justices book felt like a lot of the same. I am glad I did because Brawn's book felt right, and new, and improved.
What I can't recall is more of him in the past books, I feel like I keep forgetting who he is and he will not leave a mark like the others characters did. Although the book was pretty decent.
I felt like he handled his worst fear really really well, and I mean after being locked u...more

Although this series is nothing but porn on the page at times, the male characters are very caring and loving alpha males and most women will like how they are rendered ;D

This is one of my favorite series right now!

BIG HUGE GREAT BOOK ALERT!!!!
Oh my gosh. I love this series. This is such a wonderfully written series of stories. Every time I read one, I think its my favorite one. So with out further ado, once again this is my favorite. I LOVE BRAWN!! Here's the thing.... I love it when an author can tell a poignant story and not have the book riddled with nothing but misunderstandings and misconceptions and infuriatingly frustrating complications. So, for everything that happens in this story, there seems...more

Having not read the previous books in the series, I admit I was a little lost at times, but not so much so that I couldn't enjoy the story.
The sex was incredible, with the primal intensity I'd expect from a story about men who were quite literally part animal. I was glad that while there was quite a bit of hot lovin', it never quite crossed the line into erotica, since that's not what I was aiming to read when I snagged this one off of Amazon.

I wasn't going to read anymore of these books but the premise of this newest one drew me in. The first part of the book where they are captured and tortured in the lab was interesting but the second half was nearly a carbon copy of Slade. I thought the dynamic between Becca and Brawn was boring. The caveman act got really tiresome as well. Brawn acted more like an overbearing parent than a considerate and loving partner. I half expected him to insist on wiping Becca's ass for her because he coul...more
First, the positive:
- A fresher plot. Not fresh, definitely not unique, but at least mostly different from the other 4 books.
-Less sex, more action (it is good even if you're a smutty reader :D, the scenes were copy carbon. You'll understand when reading).
The negative:
-Flat characterization. Well, Ms Dohner's character are never that well written, but let's say this bunch is flatter than usual and "choppier" too.
The way Tim behaved is difficult to believe (and keep his job and other people's tr...more

Okay. . . Confession. . . Laurann is my crit-partner so I've read this book (don't hate me) and I have to tell you. . . I was nervous going into this one. . . Justice was such a powerhouse book. There'd been a big build up to the leader of the New Species book and amazingly Justice's book was one of those that actually lived up to the hype. I think Justice was better than we all expected and that was saying something!!

While I have really enjoyed this series this story set my teeth on edge. I think it is because Rebecca "Becca" was so unwilling to trust anyone when she found out she was pregnant with a New Species baby. If she really loved the child she would have found a way to get to the New Species doctor. I also have a hard time with people in stories not talking to each other. Becca assumed that Brawn had never tried to see her or call her but she never took into consideration that her father may have pre...more
First off, let me say that I'm giving this 4.5 stars, but rounded up because I love all of Laurann's books and if I didn't have so many books on my TBR list, I would definitely reread them.
In this book, Brawn is to take over on the task force for Jessie Dupree and he needs to be geographically closer to the team when they get called in on a job. In order for him to do that, plans were made for him to move into Tim Oberto's (head of the task force) guest house which is currently occupied by his...more

This series just keeps getting better and better. Brawn is such a wonderful main character. Even though he states that he's not interested in human females, he is very protective, caring and attentive to Becca from their first encounter. Becca, especially in captivity, is also an amazing character - courageous, caring, and optimistic. Later in the story, her attempts to push Brawn away become a mite tiresome, although the explanations offered for her reluctance to accept him as a mate are realis...more
I would give this more of a 3.5/5. I really enjoyed the first half of this book. Brawn and Becca where captured by Mercile and involved in breeding experiments like Tammy and 927 were in Valiant. They had only met the day before they were captured, but they were very attracted to each other. During the experiments, and all the time they spent together locked in the same cage, they grew very close, being each other's only source of comfort. What was being done to them was barbaric, but they were...more

Okay I have mixed feeling about this one to be perfectly honest. The only reason why I am giving it 4 stars is because I really really loved Brawn. He was a great guy. His mate however Becca was another matter. In the beginning of the story she was painted as an immature, crazy person, with a substance abuse problem. When they were captured I got to see some depth to her character and I started to like her more. But then that changed as soon as they were saved the real her came back out. The res...more

I had a rather short area here telling a little about me but then I had more than a few people ask me to expand it so... here goes. LOL. I'm a full time home 'supervisor' which is a nice word for saying I'm a housewife. I'm married happily, I met my dream guy 20 years ago, and we have 4 children. I live in Southern California and I can't function without iced coffee. I believe in romance, I've alw...more
