Heart-Warming!

A very heart-warming story that is perfect to read during the Christmas season. A story that reminds us of the harsh times that children go through after losing their parents to a war and how they cope with their feelings. Sometimes the best therapy a person can get to help them heal is the unconditional love and devotion of a loyal pet instead of a licensed physician.

You may tear up at the end as Kebi and her twin sister Sasha introduce Sasha's pups to a group of kids who end up b...more

Sweet, short story about a family of dogs and how they touched so many people's lives. Pet-lovers whether you have a dog or not will be touched by this story and you will be smiling by the time you are finished. There are two families in the book (human and dogs) and to mingle the two and hear both sides of the story being told simultaneously was s unique and fun storyline. People talk to their pets all the time and Downs put a voice to the dogs in the story answering the humans and also the dog...more

A DOG GONE CHRISTMAS is a delightful Christmas story for any time of the year!

It's heartwarming and charming. I consumed it, first page to last, in one sitting, not wanting to put it down until I knew exactly how things turned out for the pups and children. I especially loved when we were in Sasha’s (The mommy collie’s ) point of view. Two of her pups, Care and Shakie, stole my heart. Lindsay Downs characterizes collie personalities spot on, and will have you grinning from ear to ear. I have to...more

Dogs, military kids, and Christmas. There is no sweeter combination. It may take a bit to get into the dog's head when in canine point of view, but since I tend to talk for my dogs, that really wasn't much of a stretch. The perfect read for sensitive hearts everywhere.

This book had it all for me. There was romance, thrilling chases, scary situations, laughter, and nostalgia, ending with a tear or two.

The scene opens with a special group of friends and their families of Collie dogs. FBI Special Agent, Jenna Janson arrives with her Roxy for an undisclosed operation. Soon she is joined by the others and you quickly realize they are all former, or to be, military dogs in training from one family. It is a time of celebration for the Mother Dog and her two litters...more

Not since "Lassie" have I come across a story that so poignantly conveys the intelligence and personality of collies. Downs really shines in her ability to brings the dogs' inner narrative to life. I found myself taken aback many times at the animals' intelligent behavior. If you enjoy TV programs such as "Lassie" or "Flipper," or movies like "The Adventures of Milo and Otis," then you will be in doggy heaven. I came away from reading "A Dog Gone Christmas" wagging my tail. If you love dogs, the...more

A Dog Gone Christmas is a heart-warming tale of a family who own a family of collie puppies. This family is military and Federal law enforcement. The dogs are a part of the family and help with the investigations. In A Dog Gone Christmas, the family sets out to help the children of parents who died while fighting in the military with some puppy therapy. But it isn’t enough for the children to just visit with a puppy. They long for their own.

Kebi, the collie, mother was a rescue dog. She is an am...more

Definitely a story about the holiday and season of giving. Lindsay writes a fun, sweet, loving story of seven children who lost a parent in Iraq, or Afghanistan. They are missing a large piece of themselves and need healing. Seven collie puppies are homeless and in need of love and tenderness. What a terrific idea to match these fourteen lonely hearts together.
The names that Lindsay’s given the puppies fits them so well. This author leaves no details out. Lindsay’s unique use of the collie poin...more

This is a lovely little story. Though a story set around Christmas the reader can enjoy it at any time.

It's about children who will have to spend Christmas with either just one or none of their parents ... and Emily and her friends, incl the collies Dakota, Kebi and their dog family are there to help.

I really enjoyed this quick read and I'm sure it'll touch many readers heart!

Looking for a Christmassy tale? Then don't pass this dog-mad book by. Filled with furballs, Christmas and heart, it reminded me of why I love Christmas. In this book, everybody finds a friend.
