Another awesome piece of work from the awesome Julieanne Lynch. She blew us away with In The Shadows, and now she is even doing it with her short stories! This woman has no end of amazing talent. I raise my glass and concede: "I WANT MORE!"

Once again Julieanne's stories grip you from page one, and once she told me the story was about Antoine (yes the one from "Within the Shadows" and "Escaping the Shadows") I knew I had to read this twelve page novella, as I loved him in the other books she's written. Yes, I love him just the same or perhaps more then I did before, "I assume you are expecting other company!" Antoine blurted out as he casually rested his back against the trunk of the willow. "Bizarre how all this works isn't it. He...more
"Bitter Kisses" by Julianne Lynch is a wonderful short story about an angel and a vampire in a magical realm fighting of evil and falling in love.
The story draws you in quickly with three great characters. The battle between good and evil, angels and demons is as much personal between the archangel and her dark counterpart.
The scenes are written with passion and vivid imagination and references to Lucifer and a (I assume non biblical) god of light.

It was more like a very underdeveloped story. Pity really, because it has conceptual makings of being a good fantasy tale.
It wasn't the fact it was too short per se. I just could have been so much more. Perhaps the author will be creating a longer version with the same characters.
Aside from that it felt a bit overdone, wishy washy in parts and leaned a little heavily on the instalove factor. Instead I would have liked to have seen more of these demons and creatures the main character battles wit...more

Wow!! I truly enjoyed this short story and to get a chance to read more of Antoine. Love this world that Julieanne has created and seeing Vampires at their truest nature. Wicked and sexy exactly how I love my vampires!
I enjoyed Ysoriel's character - beautiful, kind, compassionate, strong and brave. For a short story it was more than an awesome read, very well written, great pace, perfectly described and the right amount of action. The land of Aurelius was the perfect setting for this great encou...more

This was a thoroughly enjoyable short story and this world we find is so creatively put together. I think her structure in the community of vampires is brilliant and Ysoriel such a beautiful creature. As a short story it works very well and certainly delivers a great read, well written and pacy it was 5 stars for me.
I came across this title the other day while on Amazon, being written by Julieanne Lynch, I just had to buy it. I am glad I did.
The world building is spellbinding, keeping me absorbed in the story. I love how this author blends the world building with mystery and suspense as she weaves the characters in.
A lone vampire with absolutly no idea what he will run into when he steps through to the other side, he is there for his own reasons, yet what takes place is not what he envisioned. Then the old...more
