Talented Texan Jodi Thomas has a unique and addictive storytelling style. She truly has a way of creating memorable characters and involving us in romantic story lines that offer exciting adventure and laugh-out-loud humor. With her 25th historical romance featuring the great state of Texas, "Wild Texas Rose", Jodi Thomas takes her readers to an even higher level of pure reading enjoyment! While this book features all the cherished elements of historical western romance that serious devotees lik...more

Like the other books in this series, this was a sweetly romantic story. I enjoyed it on many levels, despite the low rating, but ultimately I did feel this book rates a little below average. There were too many relationships going on simultaneously. The "main" romance -- the pair from Whispering Mountain I was most interested in when the story began -- was probably the least developed, leading to a random and unsatisfying ending. The bit of mystery was patently obvious from the start.

Jodi Thomas has written a series of books called the Whispering Mountain Series. I have just finished reading number six in this series, “Wild Texas Rose”. I loved this book. I didn’t know what to expect when reading the first chapter, but as I read further, I couldn’t put this book down. There are so many sub-plots in this novel, that there is no way you could be bored reading it. Rose and Duncan are from the same family, but not related, which brings its own drama. Add a couple of Civil War ve...more

4.25 out of 5. A riveting novel that is set in the Old West and which is another fine example of this author's compelling style. A beautifully written novel with lots of action, a few folk who are still wounded physically and psychologically/emotionally from the Civil War, family struggles, a good bit of greed, and even a ghost. It is a love story that is played out in several relationships on such a way that the reader needs to keep the mind engaged throughout. A great story about caring, famil...more

I really loved this book. I was a little worried because I read some of the reviews and I was shocked to see that some big fans of Ms. Thomas didn't enjoy this book. But being a Super Fan I read it anyway and loved it. It is not just one of her westerns, it's different! I do love her westerns more than anything, but this change of pace to an "off the ranch" kind of book was wonderful and I was introduced to many new characters that I found myself loving as much as the main characters. It was a r...more

Rose McMurray hurried to Fort Worth, Texas at the urgent request of her friend, Victoria Chamberlain. Once Rose arrived, however, she noticed that Victoria didn’t appear to be in any great distress. She was so busy shopping and preparing for her wedding that Rose hardly saw her. Still, Rose felt that something was wrong. Victoria’s maid said that her mistress cried herself to sleep every night and where was Myers, the prospective bridegroom? With the wedding only days away, shouldn’t the man hav...more

This is a 4.5 book as well as her whole series of Whispering Mountain novels. This was one of the best group of books I have read in a long time and the last was the best. She has captured a closeness between people that few people can explain. Her storie are full and exciting and show a lot of the country during this time period. All the family come back to Whisptering Mountain to heal and to love. They are pulled by family but not always by blood.

This story was surprising. It was more than just the POV of the main characters, which made it alot more interesting. I liked reading about the other backgrounds and getting their story. The outlaw's POV, I didn't like so much, so I skipped over a lot of those pages. Overall, the story was a good, fast-paced adventure. I love how Rose and Duncan were opposites, but they both needed the other in order to function. Very sweet.

I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't as good as the first generation of Whispering Mountain books. The romance was a little lite, and there seemed to be too many plot lines running at the same time, they eventually all run together but it was still more of a "whodunit" than a romance. This book had the feel of Ms. Thomas' Harmony books, lots of people interconnected. . . I was hoping for updates about the original McMurrays but they never appear and only a couple are mentioned in passing. It's wor...more

I am a fan of Jodi Thomas and the Whispering Mountain series. With each story she tells such wonderful tales of the west and the adventures they have fighting the elements and the outlaws. Rose is another one of the girls who came 20 years ago with her mother to find Teagan McMurray. Rose and Duncan(Duck) have always been close and to see their relationship grow was beautiful to read as it unfolded with all that was going on around them. I love the other stories of Abe and Sara, Hallie and Stitc...more

Historical romance by Thomas is always a fun read with her usual quick wit and unforgettable characters. This one has a lot of plot layering which makes it hard to put down and the perfect addition for the next generation in the Whispering Mountain Series.

Very enjoyable, not necessary to read the whole series, this book can stand alone. You might be surprised what love story you find!

I have lost track as to what number in the Whispering Mountain series this book is but if this is the quality of books to come this one needs to be the last. The main character's story, Rose and Duncan, gets overshadowed by 3 other story lines; and a letter that may be a clue to Duncan's heritage is produced and is mentioned twice in the first half of the book and never mentioned again. But I am not staying up at night wondering what happened...I've got a sock drawer that needs rearranging.

Great book, I love how she took us back to the Whispering Mountain an told us Rose's story, I admit the ending made me go huh just because I felt like it stopped suddenly almost like a season finale on your favorite show...Hope to see more to come! Can't wait till the next book is out
Jodi
I liked it but I was disappointed that none of it took place at Whispering Mountain and other than Duncan and Rose the rest of the family had had very brief passing mentions. Part of me wanted to "check in" with all the past characters and see more of how they were now
Leann Harris
I enjoyed this book. It was good read. These characters have appeared in other books and it was fun to see their story. There were so many interesting characters to draw you into the story.
