When The Disappearance of Georgiana Darcy opens, the Darcys are worried because they haven’t heard from Geogiana since she headed north to open her husband’s home and ready it for his return. Georgiana and Colonel, now Major General Fitzwilliam were married in a previous book. However, the Darcys can’t do much about it as they’re preparing for Kitty Bennet’s marriage. There’s plenty to keep everyone busy.

Things take a desperate turn when notice is sent to the family that Major General Fitzwillia...more

I guess it's a little unfair for me to rate this book because I just could not finish it. P&P sequels are always troublesome because Austen's tone and language is apparently really difficult to get right. I give the author credit for trying, but there is better written fanfic on the Pemberley website.

First of all, the relationship between the Darcys as portrayed in the book is just sappy. For instance, the couple engage in a fairly serious discussion of family matters in the course of undres...more

This was certainly different from other variations that I have read. It was darker and you know what, it kind of made me not want to visit Scotland ;)

Lizzy and Darcy are happy. Kitty is getting married. Mary is married, the Bingley's are happy and Wickham and Lydia, well you know about them. Here I do feel sorry for Lydia, sure she is a silly idiotic thing but not even she deserves him. Everything is fine except for something that the characters find out later on in the book. Something the reade...more

Amazing mystery!! If I could rate this a 6 star I would. I could not put the book down.

This book is a continuation of Ms Jeffers book "Christmas at Pemberley". I had to reread the book for my own need to be refreshed for the characters and situation. It was not necessary, ms Jeffers does a wonderful job filling in where it is needed. The story flows effortlessly. I just want to say though that if you have not read the first book, you should. It was a wonderfully poignant and though it was full...more

Awesomeness! I love that The Disappearance of Georgiana Darcy is a sequel to Christmas at Pemberley, a fact I did not know before I started reading it, not to mention what a great story it is!

Upset over hearing some bad news, Georgiana charges off on her horse towards the Scottish moors. Thrown from her horse, she wakes up in a strange room with no recollection of how she got there. When Darcy and Elizabeth find out she is missing, they go to Scotland to try to locate her. Colonel Fitzwilliam,...more

Wow! What a great mystery with the main characters from Pride and Prejudice!

Elizabeth and Darcy are happily married and have an infant son. Georgiana Darcy has recently married her cousin, Major Edward Fitzwilliam. She has gone to Scotland to get one of the Fitzwilliam's homes ready for her and her husband to live in when he returns from war at Waterloo. An injured fellow-soldier delays Edward's return home. Meanwhile, Georgiana has received news that her husband has died in the battle at Water...more

'The Disappearance of Georgiana Darcy' reads almost like its own mystery. In the first 1/3 of the novel, Jeffers revisits the lives of Austen's popular characters along with those who live in her version of Pemberley. The reader catches up with the families and acquaintances of the Darcy's during Kitty's wedding with Mr. Winkler. What the author does best is not sugar-coat the realities that resulted from the choices each person made. Small spoiler - Mrs. Bennett's response to seeing Mrs. Wickha...more

What an intriguing mystery! I couldn’t put it down until I finished it in 3 years despite it being 400 pages. I hadn’t read Christmas at Pemberly but it wasn’t necessary to understand this novel. (Although I’m curious what the wink between Edward & Kitty is that Darcy notices and how Caroline came to live in the America’s.. I’m sure it’s in part 2.
Georgiana has married Edward before he sets out for battles and goes missing while he's away (thinking Edward died in battle). Elizabeth & Dar...more

The Disappearance of Georgiana Darcy by Regina Jeffers is a Pride & Prejudice mystery with heart and a devotion to Jane Austen’s characters as she envisioned them. The beauty of this novel is that it not only holds true to the original and what happened between the Bennets, the Darcys, and the Bingleys, but it also demonstrates that those characters can change and become more than Austen intended.

Georgiana has vanished among the moors in Scotland while she waits for her husband Major General...more

Compelling enough to keep my attention, with interesting plot twists. I must admit, however, that the fact that every single couple (with the exception of the Bennet's & the Wickham's) find that their spouse/intended "completes them" of that they found "the deepest of love" upon the first sighting got a bit old. Really, really old. & I could have done without the details of the Darcy's foreplay.
Other than the over-sentimentalized romanticism, it was a decent yarn.

This book was so bad it was...bad. The premise is ludicrous - Georgiana is married, abducted and trying not to fall in love with her captor while Mr. Darcy frantically hunts for her? When I happened upon the line where Mr. Darcy falls to his knees, grabs Elizabeth by the buttocks and pull her to him, I laughed while Jane Austen turned in her grave. And then I put it back in the bag to return to the library...

After struggling through the first 50 pages or so, I could not put this book down. It is definitely more macabre than other P&P adaptations/sequels, and the twists and turns throughout this book will keep you turning the pages well into the night. Overall, a very enjoyable read.

I loved this book. It's a mystery wrapped with my favorite characters. I loved following the various characters to the conclusion. It was like a literary soap. Well done Ms. Jeffers.

Writing about “passion” comes easily to Regina Jeffers. A master teacher for thirty-seven years, she has passionately taught thousands of students English in the public schools of West Virginia, Ohio, and now in North Carolina. Yet, “teacher” does not define her as a person. Ask any of her students or her family, and they will tell you Regina is passionate about so many things: her son, children i...more
