Definitely original, absolutely intriguing: Battling a dual reality, Kyanna is suffering from fainting spells where she lands into a fantasy world with kings, battles, deadly beasts, and a gorgeous soldier.
Chimera throws us into not one, but two story-lines which are both full of mystery and romance. I think that for his first novel, especially one where he writes from the mind and heart of a teenage girl, B.D. Swan did an excellent job. As with the previous reviewer I thought the book had a slow start the first chapter or two, but I was glad that I kept reading. Infact once I got into the story I had a hard time putting the book down. It was the perfect weekend read.

This is my first "e-book" experience. I received a "Nook" for Christmas and as soon as "Chimera" was available on the Barnes and Noble Nook site, I bought it. I was quite anxious to read it, as it is written by a close relative and I have been hearing a lot about his novel writing experience. When I heard about this book the first thing I thought was I love the cover. Then I read the premise and loved the idea of the book. Interesting concept of living in a different world during dreams.

A good fantasy read. There were a few inconsistencies in the story that didn't quite make sense, but a good read nonetheless. I hope there is a sequel. This ending was left far too wide open for my taste.
