Grub's Pups is the third in the Ruby and Grub series. Tilly and Grub are expecting pups and Grub isn't too happy about it - he just wants to play with Tilly. Ruby and Billy are very excited about the big event though, and even have a 'Guess how many pups' competition.

A brilliant book for very small children. The story of a dog having puppies is told very delicately, and I was surprised that it was from the Daddy dog's point of view. Wonderful attention to detail in the text and the way it is presented, and of course in the illustrations which are full of subtle characterisation and emotion.
My sons and I adored this book and have not stopped reading it since we got it from the library. We have also ordered the previous two books, but this book stands alone without having read the others.
Grub is going to be a dad. The adorable floppy brown dog is a confused father-to-be missing his heavily pregnant mate Tilly. Ruby, a little girl has a dog (Grub) who is about the father some pups. Tilly, the dog mum-to-be is out of sorts and doesn't want to play, but all is joyous again once the pups are born. The illustrations are delightful.
