An original and beautifully written story, Progeny of Innocence took the term 'rebirth' and 'souls' to a whole new level!

It was a bit hard for me to get into the story because until this day, I was still a bit confused by the concept of both the New World and the Ancient World. I am so glad that I started reading this series!! It was honestly one of the best new series that I came across in 2011!

After I had finished book 1, I was a little confused!! Most of the questions that I had after book 1 were answered in this book!! Which made me very happy! It also brought up some new questions!! Which also makes me happy because I know that there will be another book!! Yay!

I am absolutely over the moon excited to be sharing my review for this new book in Patti's series Paradox The Angels Are Here. Paradox: Progeny of Innocence is probably the best book to start off your New Year with I kid you not. If you read my review for the first book you will know how much I loved it, but, I love the second book even more and I know you will too.

Paradox: Progeny of Innocence is probably the best book to start off your New Year with I kid you not. If you read my review for the first book you will know how much I loved it, but, I love the second book even more and I know you will too.

As the book opens we get a much more detailed and in depth feel for the evil Grigorians, the characters she has created are like nothing I have seen so far, for "The Bad Guys" characters even though they are evil, you just want to like them sometimes, Abandon is my favorite of them so far, I mean come on now who doesn't love a bad guy now and again and with his yellow eyes oh yummy yummy, he can look at me any day *blushing* and his brother Lord Cerberus who reins is very much oblivious to the fact that his own wife Pandora and his flesh and blood brother Abandon are in a scheme of their own together to get rid of Cerberus. The fallen angels (Grigorians) are fighting at any cost against any that get in the way, against the Burgardians.

Every time I read another book from Patti her imagination amazes me and the worlds and characters she has created are one of the most original stories I have had the privilege to read, as she introduces new characters the story evolves, Temulun, a servant and Bakari, a guard in the royal house are trying to help Keyla a newcomer, to discover the heritage, an ancient race of people called the Bakhna Rakhna, and abilities she has in hopes they can finally put an end to the Grigorians.

As the story continues to the present time, we catch up with Grace, Angela, Wade *sighs* oh Wade, ahem excuse me all for drooling over Wade :) Kate (Grace's Mom) and a few new friends have been introduced Joshua and Zach, and Damon. So I have to stop there and tell you all, *giggles* Patti has honored me with being a character in her book, I am none other than Wade's *sigh* wife, yup I am the big handsome hunky yummy Aussie's wife, now if you go onto Patti's website she has pics there of possible actors if her books ever get turned into a movie, O...M...G I am one lucky wife if that's who she gets to play Wade *sighs while drooling* thank you Patti :) that was my birthday present, how rockin a birthday present was that to be named a character in such an awesome series of books. Yay Me!!!

Ok back to reality now, so we catch up with Grace who is now sixteen and in high school and just as I loved Grace in the first book, I love her even more now, Patti has left no question from book one left unanswered and if anything expanded with sheer brilliance and ability to bring us right into not only Grace's world and her life but that of the Grigorians and the Burgardians. This book has left me breathless, really breathless, I waited so long to read this one, she has exceeded every expectation I had. I felt like I was right there in the story, few books are able to do that to me, but this one did, I could smell, hear, feel what everyone was doing, the book drew me right into it, I felt like I was able to be with Grace while she was growing up, and watching her bond with Wade grow, and her friendship with Angela get stronger as well, it was nice to see her mom getting back on her feet, I know how that is, it was hard watching my mom get back to herself when my dad had passed away.

Angela as always is another one of my favorite characters, she is ultimately there to protect and watch over Grace but also has become Grace's best friend, Angela has no sense of humor, everything she does and says is very matter a fact, but the way she comes out with things she just cracks me up, and poor Joshua has such a MAJOR HUGE crush on Angela, I hope in the next book Angela will see how much he likes her. Now Damon, oh Damon I haven't still even after finished reading made up my mind about him yet, I like him but yet very suspicious of him still, he makes you want to like him though, so I think I'll stay on the fence with him for now, but I also liked Riley, oh Riley I almost forgot about him, a new character as well, comes in as the pizza delivery guy, Riley he's a cutie and also likes Grace, wow Grace is having lots of boy issues in this one ;), but I would have to say one more character that I really did like a lot and one I hope I will see more of in the next book is Abe, Grace is babysitting one night and Abe is a little eight year-old dynamo, man he's got her back and then some he's just a little firecracker I just loved that kid, I can't say anymore than that or I'll give some stuff away. I had everything around me in my own surroundings tuned out and all I could hear was what the book was describing. Patti's talent how she describes everyone and everything is nothing short of amazing.

Now I can't go on too much more else I spoil this long awaited book for you, and I hate spoilers so I'm not going to go on too much more. I will only say this much more, this is a MUST READ and it's a huge honor for me to be able to review this amazing book for Patti. Patti and I met almost one year ago when she asked me not long after I started my blog to read and review her first book of the series, from that our friendship was born and has grown over this year, I not only recommend this book because she is a dear and wonderful friend, but I recommend this book because she is a talented Author who has done an incredible job creating a world and Beings I have come to love reading about and I can't wait for the next book to come out, I really hope she is writing very fast so I don't go into withdrawals lol. I hope you all enjoy this book as much as I did!!! Enjoy everyone!! (less)

Okay here was my mistake with this book.... I accidentally read it before I read the first one. I got mixed up and thought this was the first book. But besides that this book was pretty awesome and I suggest you read, but read the first one first because it will save you from asking dumb questions and then slapping your self. But if you do get you in the same knack I was you'll be fine, but I gonna go read first one now.

I absolutely adored the first book of the Paradox series, The Angels Are Here, and naturally had to pick up the second one as soon as soon as it was available in the Amazon UK store. Progeny of Innocence was an even more amazing, wicked read than The Angels Are Here.

The novel begins with a brief account of the background story and is narrated by Juliette. Juliette is an old soul reborn in the body of a young girl, Grace. In the first book, Grace was just a girl, now she’s a 16-year-old teenager who’s plagued by visions she doesn’t understand even though she desperately tries to put the pieces of the puzzle together in order to find out who Juliette really was and what exactly happened to her world. Grace never really got over her father’s death, so when she meets the new boy in town, Damon, he takes on a very important role in her life as her love interest and the one that makes her loss more bearable, along with Wade. But soon things start to get strange and it’s obvious there’s a killer on the loose, though it’s doubtable that he’s human. I could feel the spark between Grace and Damon, though I’m not yet sure whether he’s good or bad.

I liked Grace in the first book, but in this one she was even more likeable and had me rooting for her when the fallen angels (called Grigorians) came closer to finding her. I thought she came across as honest and responsible, just the way someone with her importance in the fate of heaven and earth should be. I liked that she’s become an adult now and that she understands the importance of what’s going on around her.

One of my favorite characters was Keyla, who is a secondary character and the bearer of magic of the ancient race, Bakhna Rakhna. There was some sort of mystery surrounding her and I can’t wait to find out what her story and role is in the ancient battle between the angel houses.

All in all, this was such an amazing, well-written read I thoroughly enjoyed and can only recommend. I’m astounded by the writer’s imagination, the rich writing and beautiful prose as well as the intrinsic plot. If you’re hesitating, get the sample first. I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to put it down.(less)

Concluí a leitura deste livro a 7 de setembro de 2012. À semelhança do que aconteceu com o primeiro volume da série, dou-lhe três estrelas.
No geral, achei este livro bem melhor do que o primeiro. Embora continuem a existir partes que acho que não contribuem em nada para o avanço da narrativa, estas não são frequentes quanto no primeiro volume.

I was really excited when I got asked if I’d like a review copy of the second book in the series. I enjoyed The Angels are Here but I had loads and loads of questions after finishing the book, which I assumed would be answered further in the story – and let’s just say that in Progeny of Innocence, a lot of my questions were answered.

Firstly, I should say that the attention to detail in this book is every bit as good as in the first – there is still good artwork within the book, and it really do...more I was really excited when I got asked if I’d like a review copy of the second book in the series. I enjoyed The Angels are Here but I had loads and loads of questions after finishing the book, which I assumed would be answered further in the story – and let’s just say that in Progeny of Innocence, a lot of my questions were answered.

Firstly, I should say that the attention to detail in this book is every bit as good as in the first – there is still good artwork within the book, and it really does add a nice touch to the story. I know looks aren’t everything, but it can certainly help!

Secondly I should say that I enjoyed Grace a lot more as a character in this book than in the previous. She’s no longer a little girl, which made her much more relatable for me, and it’s also gradually becoming more clear why exactly she’s so special, and why she needs protection. Obviously in this review I’m trying not to give too much away, but there are definitely new dimensions added to Grace’s character.

I also appreciated Angela more in this book, and I liked the continuity of her character. Roberts clearly hasn’t forgotten what made Angela so interesting to her readers, and she definitely provides some comic relief when needed, even when she’s clearly not trying to.

One of my main problems with the previous book was the lack of information regarding the Angel’s world, and how the war from there is affecting the human world. Again, this is addressed in this book, and a large chunk at the beginning of the novel is set in the Angel’s world, and really describes what’s going on there, as well as adding new threads to the story – which I will be interested in seeing where they lead. Also, without giving too much away, I think that following this book, the effects of the Ancient world on our world is going to become a whole lot more obvious.

This book really captivated my attention, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself whilst reading it. The first book was good, but this book was much better, in my opinion. Roberts really has a gift for keeping the story flowing nicely, and giving enough away to keep the reader in the loop, whilst they’re still hanging on to find exact details.

For anyone who hasn’t read the first book, both books are available in a double pack special edition now, and I’d totally recommend that to them. However, if you have read the first book, I’d totally recommend this – I really enjoyed it.

I finally finished - I have to admit, I put off finishing this book because I so enjoyed it - I didn't want it to end. I love how the characters came full circle at the end!! As Patti promised, many questions that I had from the first book were answered in this one. The characters never ceased to enthrall me, the descriptions never ceased to take me to the scene, and most importantly, I was ALWAYS transported to another time, another place. The novel starts in 1081AD with a more in depth understanding of the Grigorians, the lives of Abaddon, Cerberus and Theria, as well as new characters Temulun, a Bakari servant, and Keyla who has the gift of the Ancients. We are then propelled forward to 2009 and the story of Grace continues.

I enjoyed the first book and was not prepared for what the author had in store for her readers next. This book was FANTASTIC! I was spell bound from the very first page. She packed one heck of a literary punch with this book and this second book far excided my expectations.

Progeny of Innocence starts off where the first book left off. we find ourselves once again listening to a story told by Juliette as we get out more about the Ancient world of Alatair which is home to the opposing forces of Angels known as Gregorian’s and Bulgarians, whose ancient battle for reign will play out in the New World known as Earth. It is here where we see Grace again, now a teenager and still trying to figure out who Juliette as her life begins to spin towards her true destiny.

Reminiscent of the first book, this novel has two distinct plotlines; the ancient world of Alatair and Grace’s Story. Some of my questions that I had from the first book are answered as the author delves deeper into the history of the Ancient World of Alatair. Patti Roberts blends a mixture of Aboriginal and Celtic myths into this book which much to my surprise works. It explains how each race came into being and why they are rising up to fight the threat of the Gregorian’s who have “fallen”. Though in my mind this storyline over shadow’s Grace’s story. Grace’s story is one of Innocence and becoming as she finds events beyond her control as those around her try to protect her from what Is about to come. My personal preference is the world of the “fallen’ but then I love a dark and twisted tale and the author does not disappoint. The story lines move much faster than the first book, as the foundations to the story has been set. I really enjoyed the buildup of tension throughout the book and as I finished the last page I wanted the next book in hand. You will be left hanging as the plots merge together and you know that the really story is about to begin.

As with the first book the line between main characters and supporting characters blur, each character brings something to the book and help move the plot line along. We see the supporting characters around Grace fleshed out more as the mystery of whom and how they came into being is revealed. We see new characters introduced that I am sure will play a pivotal role in the outcome of this trilogy. The author does a great job of bringing all the characters into play, as their stories are played out and move the story along to its conclusion. I still think Abaddon is my favorite character, he is evil corrupt and so very very interesting. There are many layers that we haven’t seen that I am sure will be revealed in time. Grace though being a bit older is still very much in the dark as to what is happening in the world around her, all is not as she thinks and just as she is on the verge of remembering those who have been sent to protect push her farther into the dark as if she is not yet ready to face her destiny.

The book is very well written and I feel that Patti Roberts outdoes herself with this story, and is such a talented writer which is much more evident in this book than the first. With the Kindle version priced at $2.99 this is a must read!

With that said I give this book 5 Stars! Progeny of Innocence is wonderfully intricate book that blends fantasy, myth and legends into a truly magical tale.

It is like reading two books, the innocent teenagers' world and the harsh description of the evil's prevalence. Perhaps I am just old, don't know
the basics of the story were very good and from a technical viewpoint well put together.
My main problem is the continual back filling of the back story. It tends to take you away from the main story way too often.
The characters are well written for the most part however some fall a little flat.

I dont want to spoil any of the fun for you, but this series I was unable to put down. Patti Roberts draws you into her wonderful world of magic and keeps you enthralled and wanting more. If you are looking for an unforgetable read, then you found it. I would give it 100 stars if i could. The price is right, and i can think of no better gift to get for yourself then book one of the Paradox series. One page and you will be hooked on the series/

Did I say something earlier about what most people could only HOPE to dream of???? Well, I won't be back from what I call "Patti's World" any time soon. Book two was all I could've hoped for and more. I want to be one of Patti's Angels! I don't have one single regret from doing nothing but reading Paradox; Progeny of Innocence for the past two days! i absolutely loved this book. when it first started i was confused by all of the explaining and detail on characters i thought were insignificant to the story line but when you jumped back to grace and everything started to play out i fell in love with this book as i did the first one. can not wait for book 3

The second book started out a bit better than the first one but this time Grace was out of her cartoon faze straight into her teen magazines faze which was even more annoying. Again, there was some serious detailing about stuff that was very unimportant.
