Let me start with what this book isn't - a comic book. I've seen it described or labelled as such a couple of places, and it just isn't that.

What it is is a beautifully illustrated fairy tale. The tale itself follows the usual structure of such things, but it nothing extraordinary as such things go. Don't get me wrong - I love fairy tales with either a childish or unreserved passion, so I would probably have read and enjoyed The Legend of Steel Bashaw, just for being a standard fairy tale with

Meseldžija was born in Novi Sad in 1965. He started his career in 1981 as the author of the comic Krampi published in the comic magazine Stripoteka. He studied at the Novi Sad Art Academy, but during his studies continued to work on comics, but also started working as an illustrator. In 1991 he illustrated his first book, Peter Enkorak.
