How I got this book: advanced copy from author

When Carly announced on Twitter that she was releasing a novella set in the town of Serendipity, I got all sorts of excited, asked if she wanted to do some promotion with us, and then nearly fainted when she offered me an advanced look. I loved the town of Serendipity and the folks in it, so this was a super sweet treat for me!

We only...more

Very enjoyable - but I wish the characters would have gotten a full length book. There was so much more about them - their relationship, the daughter, Trevor dealing with her ex-husband - that I would have loved to have read more about.

But I loved what I read, plus wanting more isn't always a bad thing and maybe Carly will revisit them in future books or another short story perhaps :)

Lissa was such a bitch in Serendipity that I didn't know why she got her own novella and not Kate. Nevertheless this is a wonderful story of past lovers who eventually find love again.

I understand why Lissa was a bitch. She had a rough life because of one mistake when she was young - she lost her love, she got pregnant and had to marry a jerk early and when she left him, she got nothing from the divorce, a young daughter to raise and working on part time jobs that barely paid rent. What i like a...more

I liked this little story a lot. Even if Lissa is not one of my fav character in the series, I'd liked a whole story for her and his ex-boyfriend.

The thing is that I think that short stories between books should be a particular situation or a scene between already known characters and not a brand new story. That's my opinion.

That said the (short) story was good.

This was a great story. I love reading the progression of Lissa and Trevor's story. Carly is a great writer who writes amazing stories. Everyone should read this novella.

This short romance novella is a fairly typical tale of a young woman having got stuck in a rut in a small town because she was expecting a baby early and unwed, while the boy she liked went off to New York City and topped the Fortune 500 most-likely poll. I know we sometimes see that the girl has gone off and made a career, but it's less likely. 'Carolina Girl' is one such, and 'Love with A Perfect Cowboy'. In all these cases however the two meet up again and marry someone who's probably a cousi...more

This is an amazing 'add' to the "Serendipity" series!
It explains a lot about Lissa and her attitude.

.. and the ending is wonderful *sigh*

Enjoyable story of second chances at love

This was a sort enjoyable story about second chances at love. Lissa had made some mistakes when she was young but never regretted her daughter. Finally get her college education in journalism she has to do some work on young successful men. Her first assignment happens to be the man who's heart she broke long ago. Trevor knew he had to do an interview for a magazine but didn't know Lissa was the reporter. At first he's against it but decides maybe he can...more

Kismet was a cute and heartwarming tearjerker of a novella about second chances with the one who got away. I really appreciated the realistic nature of both the problems and people in this book. It allowed that people make mistakes, some of which can be life changing, and still be good. It also broke down the myth that happily-ever-after is a gift and made it clear that the happy ending can be a goal but it is one that takes a lot of work and honest...more

I should probably first comment that I have not read any other books in the Serendipity series so all the characters were new, to me. This novella is a sweet story of two people who once loved each other but due to circumstances parted. Life was not particularly easy for Lissa a although she has a daughter she loves and is beginning to find herself as a single mother. When opportunity allows her to reconnect with Trevor, her high-school boyfriend, things take off rather quickly. A full length no...more

Short and Sweet

Lissa has to interview her ex boyfriend for a magazine. Trevor left their small town after she gets pregnant by her ex. Ten years have passed and he is a successful businessman. Lissa is still struggling and hopes this will jump start her career. They have a steamy weekend together but Trevor gets scared and admits he doesn't think he can look at her daughter without thinking of how she was conceived. When he finally realizes his mistake, he goes back to her and tries to convince...more

Great book....this was actually my first Serendipity read and it makes me want more. I love this second chance romance, it has just the right amount of tension and hope. Coming from high school sweethearts who broke each others hearts to mature adults who are making life altering choices, this book included it all. Trevor and Lissas' romance had me pulling for them the whole time. Do I think it could have been made into a longer book? Yes. Is it enjoyable just as it is? Yes. Overall it's a very...more

Elisabetta and Trevor were high sweethearts but he had gotten mad and said they needed a break. So she went back to Brad and that was their undoing. She got pregnant and Brad did the right thing by marrying her but that's all he gave her. His name because he acted like he was still single. Ten years later she was assigned to write an article for a magazine and one of the men was Trevor. How would she feel seeing him after all this time? He didn't know she would be the reporter so what his reacti...more

This short engages you immediately and takes you back to the small town of Serendipity and is a passable mind mint. While part of a series you will not be lost if you read out of order. This one is also not one of the brothers.

Often re-connection stories tend to endlessly rake over the reasons a couple broke up until you wonder why they would ever get back together. Although the subject is broached here, there’s more info about what’s transpired in their time apart and h...more

I loved this novella! When I first read Serendipity, I wanted more stories about the other residents in Serendipity. Glad we got Lissa's story first.

I’ve made it no secret how much I love the Serendipity series by Carly Phillips. I can honestly say, it is my favorite series ever by Carly, and that is saying a lot since I’ve loved all her books. When I read Serendipity, I was hoping we would get stories from other characters in the town, and with Kismet, we get our first non-Barron brother story...more

Lissa Gardelli has lived in the small town of Serendipity all her life. Growing up on the “wrong” side of the tracks gave her life lessons that have helped her get through the tough times in life but they have also made her the strong, successful woman she is today. Her biggest life lesson; money does not buy you happiness.

Trevor Dane also grew up in Serendipity and lived on the “wrong” side of the tracks. He’d always thought that Lissa was beautiful and he’d had a cru...more

I started to like Lissa just a lil' bit in SERENDIPITY, but wasn't sure if I could like her enough to want her to have a HEA in her own book, cause, well let's face it, she was a BIATCHHH. In KISMET, the reasons behind her behavior are revealed and by the time I finished I was a total Lissa Fan!

Trevor and Lissa had strong chemistry and feelings for each other while in High School, one bad argument led to a mistake that would drive them apart and have Lissa married to one of the town gol...more

My Review:

Please let there be more of these little novellas to come for this wonderful town of Serendipity. There are so many wonderful stories to tell in this little town and if they are all as good as this one and the first book, then we NEED them all!

Kismet features the story of Trevor and Lissa. They were high school sweethearts from the wrong side of the tracks, but completely in love. Trevor didn't have the confidence in that love though and decided that they needed to take a break. Lissa,...more

We met Lissa in book one where for most of the book she was bitchy to Faith, the heroine of Serendipity. Her career as a journalist seemed to be going nowhere and she had divorced her cheating husband and was now a single working mother.

I was not expecting to like Lissa. I'll just put that out there. So starting from that point I have to say she was a completely different woman in this short story. I honestly felt for her and her situation. She didn't co...more

Finally after landing her dream job as a journalist, Elisabetta Gardelli is very much determined to make it on her own. With serving coffee and a divorce behind her, she has a series of interviews about entrepreneurs who have made it to the top at a young age. The one thing Lissa wasn’t expecting was to have to interview her very first love Trevor Dane.

Lissa hasn’t seen Trevor since he left Serendipity. The only issue is that they both really haven’t moved on from the teenage love affair. Now th...more

Getting a second chance at love is the main theme in this short story by Carly Phillips that has us once again visiting the town of Serendipity. We meet the main character Lissa in the first book in the series and now it's her chance to tell her story. She reconnects with a past love that she never quite got over with. The same can be said for Trevor Dane as Lissa is the one that got away. They now have the opportunity to make up for lost time, but that's easier said than done when a child is in...more

Life gives Trevor and Lissa a second chance. Because Trevor and Lissa had an argument, they broke up. Lissa went back to her previous boyfriend, who got her pregnant and then married her to do the right thing. Lissa finally realized that her daughter would be better off without Brad in the house and divorced him. Now Lissa gets to write articles about men who became rich before they were 30. Trevor is on the list and he is surprised that Lissa is divorced and not rich as he had thought for 10 ye...more

This is a short romance story. I liked it. I felt it was an ok book. I felt it was written well. Its good if you like romance. I must be honest though and say I think I'm overloaded on romance so romance books are not doing it for me right now. This book is probably more like four stars or 3 and a half. I liked it but didn't love it. I think I got it free somehow but forget how.

Oh, Serendipity... how I have missed you. I am thrilled to be back among the wonderful characters of this series.

Lissa Gardelli and Trevor Dane have a past. They were in love once but one fight and one night changed their relationship forever. Ten years later; Lissa, a recent divorcee and working journalist, finds herself having to interview Trevor for a successful business magazine. At first, Trevor is pissed but then takes the opportunity to find closure in the relations...more

The history between 2 characters was different than what I have read so far from other contemporary romance authors. I think a full-length novel would have been more interesting to read. Despite being a short book, the development of characters was built well. I wouldn't mind reading a sequel or an update to the couple.

Cute story. I liked the characters and the stakes involved. The backstory was woven in well and it fit together nicely. My only gripe is that it could've been longer. I would've liked another hundred pages to see the characters fleshed out more and the tension developed.

I love second chance books, and this one was one of the good ones. Good character depths and the story ran smoothly along. The end seemed a little rushed. I would have made him work a little harder but that's just me

Second Chances

I loved this book. Two people torn apart by past mistakes, are reunited 10 years later, and sparks fly. Once you read this, you will need to get more of Carly's books.

Okay read

Okay read

it wasn't my favorite book of hers. I know it was only a novella, but it still seemed a little rushed.
