Bringing a new baby into the home is a time of smiles and smells, hugs and kisses. Author Fran Manushkin celebrates this special milestone with a sweet story that shows that there is plenty of love for everyone, big sister and all.
This cute little story can help an older sibling understand her role when a new brother or sister arrives home. Narrated by Big Sister in short, straight to the point sentences, she tells us what life is like with her new baby sibling. We learn the baby’s needs, Big Si...more

I choose this book because I have a newborn. I wanted something to let my kids know that the new baby won’t change my love for them. I read this book on my Kindle Fire with my 4yr old daughter and my 2yr old son for a week. We loved the illustration, the theme, the rhyme and over all message. I was really pleased with their interaction during story time. The kids listened and commented on other things they do for the baby like bringing his rattle & toys or even singing to him. This book real...more
This was a really cute book!
We have a baby due any day now, and I wanted to find a book that my daughter could relate to. This book was perfect! It went right along with all of the things we've been letting her know to prepare her for baby.
Big Sisters are the Best covers all of the things that a being a big sister entails. It was a fun way to remind her that babies bring new responsibilities, but that being a big sister is awesome (because they get to eat cupcakes instead of milk!). Plus, the il...more

A young girl learns to love her new sibling and to help her parents care for "our baby" (unpaged). One of the most impressive aspects of this simple, appealing story is how the parents make sure to save some time for their first-born child. This helps her see that she is loved for herself and not what she can do for the new addition to the family. While being a big sister is a pretty cool role, it's not her only identity. The message is positive, and the illustrations depict rosy cheeks and smil...more
This is an absolutely awesome new picture book and I am above ecstatic about it. At this time, it could not be more perfect for our family. Our AppleBlossom is for the first time a Big Sister to our brand new OrangeBlossom. The last few months since OrangeBlossom was born (August 2011) have been an exciting adjustment and this book is just the treat to share with AppleBlossom. She is excited. She is a helper. She is learning to “be careful” with the “fragile baby” who will one day be old enough...more

I just finished reading this book with my younger daughter who is an older sister. Who am i kidding. She read the book to me. She loved the story and really liked the illustrations.
I enjoyed the story and pictures as well. A really great story to read with a child who is about to become a big sibling or already is.
I recommend to anyone with a younger child either to read to or read with. Great story!
