A Wish and a Prayer: A Blessings Novel (Blessings #4)
Anyone worried that living in a small town could be boring certainly hasn't lived in Henry Adams, Kansas. From the wealthy divorcee who saved this historic town founded by freed slaves to the romantic entanglements that have set tongues wagging and hearts fluttering (and everything in between), there's plenty to keep the lovably eccentric townsfolk busy.

Preston is living in a small town that was purchased on Ebay and is being revitalized. His foster parents are great (at least his mom is) and he is enjoying his life. But an email from his maternal grandmother sets his world upside down.
I haven't read the previous books and I think this set the tone for my reading experience. There are quite a few characters and I just couldn't keep track of them all. I'm not sure if it was because I was reading a ARC or not, but there was no distinction between...more

Worth the five stars and THEN some, this fourth installment on the lives and loves of the citizens of Henry Adams,Kansas come back to you in a new book. In this book, Preston reaches out to his roots and finds a curious gathering. Riley and Cletus finally have their day in court, with a little help from an animal rights organization. Bernadine is threatened after she nixes the idea that her ex husband Leo and others had that caused great concern with the residents of the area. Of course, some ar...more
This is my fourth visit to Henry Adams, Kansas. Henry Adams is the historic town founded by freed slaves that wealthy divorcee Bernadine Brown purchased off of eBay. Oh, how I've missed these characters and this beautiful, growing town.
Preston "Brain" Miles is happy living with the Colonel and Mrs. Payne. But he is still curious to know about his birth family. His biological maternal grandmother has been found and is more than willing to pay him a visit in Henry Adams. But can she be trusted? Or...more

I cleanly enjoy this series. The residents of Henry Adams, Kansas are certainly individualists and likable - except for old Riley Curry and his pet hog Cletus. In this fourth book of the series I'm happy to see Preston get the love and support he deserves from his adoptive parents and grow into a sturdy young man with intelligence, compassion and daring. The backlash on Bernadine reminds us money can't buy everything and life is not idyllic. Yet at the end of the story you smile and happily anti...more
The town of Henry Adams, Kansas always has excitement and tons of drama! I love the Blessings Series by Jenkins. The stories are intricately weaved and filled with love of family and community! If all communities were like this one, our cities would be much better!
I can't wait to see how Jack and Rocky's relationship develops and what the "We're So Slick Gang" will get into next!!!! AWESOME SERIES!!!

This was an excellent book. I have not read any of Jenkins other books. I could not put this book down. The storyline was so interesting I could not put myself to put the book down. To know that this book is the fourth of a series. I definitely will read the other three. Jenkins had my mind going and my heart reaching out to these characters. This book is a definite must read!
I loved this book. In the fourth book, Jenkins really does a great job that even with good philanthropic efforts there are consequences. She deftly tackles issues on birth parents who want no contact, foster children who long for old life, and permanency and love when adoptions are wanted. I also loved that she left the door open on a teenager who feels her life is now” too good” and misses the messiness of her former despondent life before all the blessings were bestowed upon her. I am anxious...more
I got ahead of myself and read the fourth book in the series (this one) before the third book! I kept thinking(duh!)I'm missing something here. It was a fun read and I'm currently reading the third book. I may go back and speed read the fourth book just so the story is in sequential order in my head!
