“Is It Still Murder Even If She Was A Bitch?” by Robin Leemann Donovan begins with the cleverest title for a murder mystery and delivers a fun romp through a murder investigation with sleuth Donna Leigh, a menopausal ad exec who describes herself “about as subtle as a Rolls Royce in the Wal Mart parking lot.” Donna Leigh inserts herself into the investigation of the death of an unlikable former colleague when she fears the police might finger her for the crime. Chaos ensues.

I picked up this book because I enjoy reading Robin Leemann Donovan's blog, Menologues, and figured if it was written by her, it would be witty and clever. I wasn't sure what to expect, as I'm not typically a murder mystery reader -- it ended up being a book I couldn't put down. The main character, Donna Leigh, sets out on a new adventure every chapter while uncovering more evidence about the murder of a former colleague. How does one act to the shocking news that a former colleague has been brutally murdered?
Worse yet, that you realize that your relationship/friendship with the victim could place you on the list of suspects!!!
I was given this opportunity to read and review this hilarious, mysterious book from the publisher. Although its not my usual genre read, the title alone got my curiosity and interest going. Well here goes.

One thing that struck me right away was the pacing of this book. It zooms along in the first several chapters. There's humor and the mystery is pretty good. I really enjoyed a few of the supporting cast members (I'm blanking on their names now, but I think one was Pat. -- The book is already in someone else's hands, so I can't double-check!) It's a "cozy mystery." Think "Stephanie Plum hits menopause" and you just might have the protagonist.
