Right off the bat I didn't care for the heroine. In her quest for adventures, she came off bossy and pushy. But at the same time, she was 12 years old, so I tried to give her some leeway. She pushed them into a no-marriage pact. None of them would ever get married. But they each had one escape clause. Millie required a man who would allow her to climb trees, ride astride, hunt, and have adventures. Her friend Aimee's escape was her brother's friend Reece. Janelle must have a man who prized debate, adventure and discussing philosophy. I felt Millie bullied them into the pact.

When next we see her as an adult, I still had a hard time with her. She was still pushing her friends around, and still on the hunt for her next grand adventure.Until I realized how fiercely loyal she was, how much she loved her friends, and how much they loved her. We weren't just told that, but we were shown through their actions and their points of view. Aimee and Janelle enjoyed her adventures as much as she did, though they sometimes needed an extra "push" from Millie. I found I actually kind of liked Millie.

Charles is Aimee's brother, and Marquess of Chaselton (his friends call him Chase). He is also who was constantly rescuing little Mildred Alder from her "adventures." And while he may have teased her mercilessly, he's always sort of admired her.

He's spent the past few years abroad as part of a spy ring, helping both on the front lines, and behind the scenes. He is back in London as part of a ruse. He is chaperoning/escorting his sister and her friends, but he is also searching for the man who killed his father.

There is a bit of a "National Treasure" type mystery there, and it's okay. I found it to conveniently pop in and out of the plot as needed, but I liked it nonetheless. I hope in the next book, that it's continued; I'd like to see some bad guys get their due.

I liked the romance, and I liked the side characters a lot. I really want to see Reece and Aimee get together, and I'm curious if the bad guy is truly gone. He may not be. I didn't see him as the villain of the piece at all, but it worked. There was something about his character I didn't like, but it would spoil the mystery if I put it.

She just never realized that the one she was going to marry she had known most of her life.
Chase, known as Charlie to friends and family when he was younger, recently came back from war to escort his sister and her friends in their first Season. He was by no means looking for a wife of his own. He was actually looking for the person or people who murdered his father when he was younger. He was using his escort services to get the information he is seeking. Along the way, he fell in love. He fell in love with someone he has known for a longtime. He only just realized his feelings for her. He knew once he realized those feelings he had to tell the woman and keep her safe from his investigation. He just did not realize the nature of the woman he loved. He did not realize that she would do anything to save him, just as he would do anything to save her.
Throughout the whole book, Chase and Millie kept denying their feelings towards each other. Millie was the first one to realize her feelings. She got jealous when another woman wanted to occupy Chase’s time. The other woman even mentioned she wanted to marry him. Chase did not realize his feelings until about halfway through the book. He started to notice what Millie was doing and who she was talking to. He never likes her talking to another man. So he finally got jealous. He also knew that if Millie knew his feelings she would be in grave danger because of his investigation.
By the end of the book, Chase confessed his intent to marry Mille, though it was very embarrassing to Millie, it got the point across. The person or people who murdered Chase’s father were arrested or dead. Chase was then allowed to marry Millie and prove to her that being a wife does not mean losing your personality and who you are.
I completely fell in love with A WOMAN MADE FOR PLEASURE. I could not stop reading it once I started. I have always loved historical romances and this book did not disappoint me. It quickly became one of my favorite books to read. Michele Sinclair is an excellent author and I cannot wait for the next books in this amazing series.
I highly recommend A WOMAN MADE FOR PLEASURE because it completely sucks you in from the very first page. You will not be disappointed in reading this book.

This romance is so enjoyable it is so perfectly flawless, I enjoyed myself reading the whole entire book. The characters are both very well developed, the supporting characters are interesting and not a bit overbearing. The writing is absolutely flawless I could tell that the author is a very good writer, I googled her and it seems she has written a few books before. Will definitely look forward to her coming up work.

Our basic story line is of two childhood friends Millie an adventurous girl who is defiant in a childlike manner, which makes her so cute and lovable all through the book. Even as she is grown up she exhibits the need for adventure, and her reckless nature sometimes causes her problems. But no need to fear Chase is there. Ever since childhood Chase has been saving this annoying pesky girl and even now years later he saves her, from some problems of her doing. And best of all he saves her from her vow never to marry a man.

As Chase sees the new and grown up Millie after years of being away from home, he becomes attracted to her it is his Millie after all. And our Millie too is taken a back by how masculine, and domineering he is. Instant attraction. He is her rock to fall back onto. Instantly from their first meeting tensions between them rise. And the tension and sensuality between is described amazingly well. However, as any romance novel our characters must overcome obstacles to stay together. Chase is a spy and he comes back home with a secret and Millie is bent on finding out what that secret is. Our story follows adventure, intrigue, sensuality and undying love between two souls that have been denying their attraction for each other for too long.

Chase is the perfect alpha male he is jealous, possessive, protective, loving of Millie. He is always there for her I absolutely loved him and loved everything about him. Ladies you will not be disappointed. Millie was free spirited, adventurous, lovable and cute. I definitely highly recommend this book. Fun book..

The Daring Three.... So much fun I loved that three young girls make a pact to never marry, well except for the amendments that each put on the pact. Amendments that no man could ever fulfill. Or could he?

Daughters of earls, they are uncommonly smart and bookish to be members of the ton, and they each pursue hobbies that good society doesn’t consider suitable to young women of their high station: to Millie, Aimee, and Jennelle, exploring a cave and reading a philosophy treatise seem to provide more excitement than the social gatherings usually attended by debutantes eager to land an advantageous marriage and secure a respectable place in society. They will marry for love, or they won’t marry at all. Of The Daring Three, Lady Millie Aldon seems to be the most adverse to the idea of shackling herself into marriage, but when her childhood friend (and Aimee’s brother) Charles Wentworth comes back to his ancestral home after years of military training and war missions, Millie will need to revise her priorities…loving Charles, now a dashing man, will be for Millie the most daring and exciting adventure of all.

This was a good historical romance novel. It read smoothly and was enticing enough to keep me turning page without putting it down too often. I always appreciate a certain degree of historical accuracy in a HRN and Michele Sinclair added her own touch of fictional fabrication (in reference to some real historical events) that sounded plausible and certainly helped structuring the plot and interlacing the romantic element with a solid thread of suspenseful mystery. The events unfold at a nice pace and the Sinclair’s writing style treats us to an elegant and historically consistent prose. Right from the start, the novel features an engaging plot, a good storyline structure, lively dialogues, sultry sensuality, and well developed characters, both main and supporting cast.

The characterization of the lead couple is effective and convincing: Sinclair delivers an interesting take on the friends-to-lovers trope, predictable at times, but enjoyable all the same, with a good balance of angst, light-hearted tones, and suspense. Millie is a spitfire of a young woman, and yet likable with her brave temper and good heart:

“She had sworn never to marry, and of the Daring Three, she believed most strongly in her pledge. Or at least she had. Now, Millie wanted so very much to break it. Who would have thought a man’s kiss could ruin such a well-intentioned promise?”

As for Charles (identified as Lord Chase most of the time), his transition from the emotionally detached, poised, stoic personality of a born war spy to the man in love, passionate, protective and possessive beyond redemption, is believable, but I had to wrestle a bit with the idea of him exposing Millie to the dangers of his undercover mission in order to "protect" her and unveil a political conspiracy.
An engaging and gratifying read, A Woman Made For Pleasure, is the first installment in the Promises Trilogy. I look forward to Aimee’s and Jenelle’s stories.

A Woman Made for Pleasure is a very enjoyable historical romance with a touch of mystery.

The idea behind the Promises Trilogy is fascinating and fun. Three young girls, aka The Daring Three or Three for short, make a pact to never get married. Each are allowed an exception, and all three have listed some very extraordinary exceptions. Millie Aldon is the instigator of this promise. She has no desire to ever wed, but she wants to ensure that her best friends will be with her always. Millie is adventurous, contemptuous and put quite plainly…a handful.

Years later, she remains steadfast against marriage. The three ladies have put off their season long enough and are sent to London to find husbands. None of them have changed their minds, but they put on their best faces to appease their families.

It’s been eight long years since Chase Wentworth has been home. He is being called home to escort the Three into society. He will gladly return home to accompany his sister and her two friends at least that is what he wants everyone to believe. He is getting closer to the identity of a traitor to England and this is his opportunity to search closer to home.

What he doesn’t expect is his feelings for Millie. Her personality has always fascinated him, but now that she is a beautiful young woman and he can’t stop thinking about her. Trouble is she hasn’t changed much since he last seen her. She is still impetuous, adventurous and challenging, but she makes his blood boil with a mere smile. Now he has to guard his heart, protect Millie and find a killer.

These two were a joy to read and the supporting cast was just as much fun. The mystery was well executed and developed nicely. Even though I had an idea who the traitor was, I was guessing right up to the end. Well done, Ms. Sinclair. Millie kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering what she was going to next and Chase’s hardheadedness did him no good, but it was exciting to watch Millie put him through the paces.

While I absolutely enjoyed this story, I’m unsure about the series. A Woman Made for Pleasure was actually titled Promises back in 2007 and placed first in the Historical Romance category for the PASIC 2007 Book of Your Heart contest. According to her website Promises was never published. It also appears the other two books of the trilogy have already been outlined. Ms. Sinclair has blurbs up for the other two books but no ETA’s. I doubt they will remain titled Consequences and Choices, but it sure would be nice to know when they will be published.

A Woman Made for Pleasure was a hit for me. I know I have mentioned my uneasiness about the other two, but only because I want them now. In my very selfish opinion, she has had plenty of time to have them ready for me to read *grins*. If you like saucy heroines and stubborn heroes, with a sweet romance, with some mystery thrown in, I think you will enjoy this novel. Once you have read them, you can join me in a campaign to get the other two released ASAP. (less)

This was my first Michele Sinclair novel and I will admit I was drawn in by the gorgeous cover! But what kept me reading was the storytelling. It was fun, exciting, romantic and a pleasure to read. I love storylines that feature close bonds between friends and we get to see alot of that within A Woman Made for Pleasure. Millie's two friends are wonderful supporting characters, as was the mother in charge of all three. I admired Millie's free spirit attitude but how she stood by those who needed her the most. Watching the jealously flair between Millie and Charles adds a nice dose of humor but what I really enjoyed about this romance was the falling in love process. It happened at a pace I liked and I really appreciated that the 'I love yous' were not at the very end of the story, after the dramatics. The mystery aspect was nice, but I feel like it was a bit of an add on at the end. I would recommend this story for fans of stubborn yet loyal heroines who falls hard for a childhood friend--a childhood friend that knows her for who she truly is inside and accepts all her adventurousness and loves her madly for it surrounded by wonderful friends and family mixed with some intrigue and a steamy dose of heat. I look forward to the next two books in this series! 4 stars

Mille was a wonderful spitfire of a woman and I found myself laughing and smirking at her actions, way of arguing and thinking. Charles is definitely the type of man for Millie hands down. Their fights were amusing as well as entertaining. Yet their love and passion was evident and undeniable. I could not warm up to Millie at all, and that is usually the kiss of death for me when it comes to a book. The heroine does not have to be similar to me, but I do at least have to admire or like her. Unfortunately, I found Millie's behavior endlessly annoying when I suspect I was "supposed" to find it charming. Did not finish this one.

For as much as I enjoy Sinclair's McTiernay series, I did not enjoy this book. It was a bit dull, not very engrossing, and the characters lacked some depth. I am interested in Aimee and Reece's story and look forward to who Jenelle ends up with, but I hope they are better than this one.
