Kimberly Kinrade finishes this series off with a bang. From the minute I started reading this series I was hooked, and to be honest I am a bit sad that it is over. Throughout this series I have became attached to Sam and Drake. I love when an author writes so well that you become attached to a character and Kinrade does just that. Lucy and Hunter were great characters in the story too, but I just felt more connected to Sam and Drake. This series is action packed and keeps you flipping the pages,...more

Forbidden Life is the non-stop, fast paced, edge of your seat final installment of the Forbidden Trilogy, a fantastic YA novel.

I thought book 1, Forbidden Mind was good, and it was, but then I read book 2 Forbidden Fire and it was even better. I expected Forbidden Life to be a much calmer, wrap up of the story. It was the exact opposite. It had more action and suspense than the other two books combined.

I loved, loved, loved that Luke and Lucy--particularly Lucy--got an even bigger spotlight in...more

Review originally posted at A Date with a Book .

I was surprised how different this book was from the other two. I did not enjoy it as much at times, but at other times I thought it was just as good.

I didn’t enjoy it first because it did become so very sci-fi, and that is definitely not my genre. Second, I think its level of intensity was completely different and threw me off from the story. Last, it seemed to me that the book was now the level of an adult book and as I had previously recommende...more

Building to a climax for the main characters, this third book in the trilogy brings the characters into the most difficult and life-effecting decisions they have yet been faced with. There is a stronger feeling of sci-fi to this book, highlighting the author’s ability to world-build and integrate new elements without losing the other elements that readers have come to love and enjoy. The kids are all growing up, and facing decisions that are, if possible, even more adult-like than any before.

In Forbidden Life, we finally meet the evil behind the Rent-A-Kid empire. Sam, Drake, Lucy, and Luke each face their own battles and must answer the question: Does the end justify the means? The action is fast-paced and the story is full of surprises and new characters. While the the main characters try to determine who is "the good guy" and who is "the bad guy", the reader is left wondering the same thing. Who can the Rent-A-Kids trust to help them? Will everyone get out alive?

With a bit of hum...more

Forbidden Life is the longest read in the trilogy and in my own opinion the best! The story was like a giant roller coaster that crept up a steep hill and even though you knew the end was coming you still won't be entirely ready for it. It will consume your mind with its many layers and intricate plot. The plot thickens with every chapter and the suspense just keeps building. The action in this book just never ceases and you'll be racing through to find out what's going to happen next. Forbidden...more

Forbidden Life Book Three

Warning will most definitely contain spoilers of the first two books if you haven’t read them. I will do my best to keep it vague.

Sam will do anything to protect Ana now that she has finally arrived, but the powers that be know Ana is going to be the most powerful paranormal child ever to exist and will do anything to get their hands on her. All the while Drake is missing recuperating after what had happened to him in the previous book, and Luke and Lucy are on a mission...more

In the third installment of this exciting and much anticipated story, we meet additional characters including Hunter. At this point, the kids are in full blown rebellion mode and have no intention of stopping, no matter what the cost. In the midst of all of the action, Drake loses his powers and disappears, leaving Sam all alone to give birth to their child. The ISI is working with the kids, trying to take down the creators of Rent-a-Kid and this is where Hunter comes in. He and Luke and Lucy wo...more

Since breaking out of Rent-A-Kid's grasp, Sam and Drake's lives have been topsy-turvy. They're expecting a child and have done their best to avoid crossing paths with the company itself. While they've been able to remain undetected, their lives haven't been as easy as they thought it'd be. They've had to learn how to fend for themselves, as well as make do with the simpler side of life.

With Sam's inadvertently taking Drake's power from him, their lives have taken a more sordid turn. Rent-A-Kid i...more

Kimberly has an art of capturing you in the story pulling you through the intense series and then closing all the questions. There is no room for second guesses or maybes. Every question is answered and every I is dotted.

But don't think that sells the book short. You still have to follow the heart racing breath holding story line of adventure, romance, love, hate, desire, strength, and even humor. To twin all these emotions into a can't put you down story is a gift. And Kimberly has mastered t...more

I am so sad that this series is ending as I really loved it. I will say that the author knows how to have a series go out with a bang. She truly delivered the action and romance in this one. I loved everything about this last book. Sam once again has some much to contend with in this story but she handles it in true Sam fashion which is what I love about her. The author made Sam such an endearing character that you can't help put love and feel her pain as she feels it. I found myself so wrapped...more

Kimberly has done it yet again! Forbidden Life is my favorite book in the trilogy. My emotions were all over the place while reading. I loved the looks into other characters' point of views.

The story line is fast paced and makes you keep reading. I was putting off household duties to finish this book. ;) I absolutely love the characters. I feel like I know them on a personal level. Except Hunter, I MUST know more about him and his hotness. Just sayin'. There's a lot to that boy.

OMG!!! I love this series. I don’t know where I was when these books were being reviewed individually, but I’m so glad I read this trilogy. I totally agree with Sour Skittles about the Alias and Dark Angel tones, and the X-men vibe. I also see some Pretender elements with the whole being sent on missions where they can be anyone. My daughter is totally into fan fiction and mixed story fan-fiction, especially when the X-men are involved. This story is totally something she would be into.

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Well Sam and Drake are back in Forbidden Life the final book of The Forbidden Trilogy with Sam about to pop with her and Drake's baby Ana. Drake has left Sam because she accidently took his powers from in Forbidden Fire. He thinks he can't protect Sam and Ana without his powers. Sam doesn't care about his powers she only cares about him. Drake is acting very childish...more

"It ended...it ended...it ENDED" This is what I have been vocalizing for the past half hour. Thank goodness my brain can function enough to enable me to type the words that I, apparently, am unable to speak. What those words are...well...I don't have super powers like the amazingly detailed and realistic characters in this book possess so I need a human minute to think. *tick-tock* (10 minutes go by)...*humming JEOPARDY theme song*...Ah! Ok got it! I figured out what I wanted to say *drumroll*:...more

(Note: Since there's no paperback edition of this book available yet, I have had to read it as a PDF document on my PC. [I do not own, nor do I want to own, either a Kindle or a Nook.] I had already made a commitment to review the book, hoping to get a printed edition, but apparently that won't be for a while yet. I have therefore made an exception in this case. This does not in any way mean that I am now wholeheartedly embracing ebooks, because I most definitely am NOT. I am eagerly awaiting th...more

Ok, I really didn’t think that this series could get better, as its so darn good anyway, but it did, it got even better. For those who are not yet familiar with this series (where have you been? Hiding under a rock? Lol) This series is a lot like X-Men/Dark Angel, with some Alphas (scifi channel show I love) , then throw in a little of Covert Affairs (...more

This book was great. It was full of imagination and I loved the creativity. The trilogy had finally come to an end and I'll be sad to see it go:( Never-the-less, this was a great end to the story.

I loved the scenes between Lucy, Luke and Hunter. I felt like I was in a scene in Avatar or something of that level of creativeness. The giant beetles were my favorite as were the star flowers.

The scenes with Sam and Drake were sad and a little Romeo and Juliet tragic. I felt immensely for their situati...more

This is the final book in the trilogy. Drake doesn't have his powers. Scary things are happening to the kids at Rent-A-Kid. People are after Sam's baby. This book is full of excitement and action.. I really liked how the author built this world with all the distinct personalities of the characters. There is so much going on in this book. The final confrontation was really wild.
Claudia
I really liked it. I loved how the story ended and I think the author did a great job in terms of originality and freshness of the story. The only thing that left me disappointed was the fact that I didn't feel connected to Sam's story, while I loved Lucy's story. I think Sam may have started to complain too much for my taste. I loved Drake as well.
4 stars for this final book, 3.5 for the entire series.

"Kindle Read". Author Kimberly Kinrade does it again in Forbidden Life, the third book in the Forbidden Trilogy. These are books that are a must read. They will capture you right from the beginning. Forbidden Life has it all, romance, trust, betrayal, forgivness, and we can't leave out the dangers that the energized characters encounter. Will definitely be reading more books from KK

This book is the best of the three. I had hard time finishing the second book luckily I didn't give up on the series. Forbidden Life I couldn't put down. Definitely action packed!
