The Dragon Stirs is the beginning of Lynda Aicher’s Energen series, set in a world filled with magic, mystery and treachery.
Curious about the mysterious Energens, the enemies of her people, Shifter Airiana Draco volunteers to covertly spy on their camp. Her family thinks she wants to prove herself and her loyalty, but in fact, she needs answers she isn’t getting from her people. She didn’t expect to be captured by one of the enemy, an...more

Mini-Review: I really liked the idea of the energy in this novel, along with the Shifters and the Energen. The feud between the two made for a lot of tension. I just wish there could've been more details included about the energy that surrounded everything that happened. There were a few times in which I was wondering if I missed a prologue. The pace of the novel was great, I read it in an afternoon. I also really enjoyed the alternating points of view between Airiana and Louk. It gave me a good...more
Hmmm... I'm on the fence about this one. I enjoyed the beginning, and I didn't mind things moving quickly because I felt like the 'energy' explanation was enough for me. I obviously love paranormal romances, and they do tend to be very dramatic and intense with regard to love. But this one pushed the boundary a little for me. I can only read so much of "we have to have sex to save the world!" and "Together" and "You!" Got to be a little much. But the overall plot was very unique an interesting,...more
Wow, this had all the hallmarks of a great series, feuding races, mystical energy force and the apocalypse looming.
It just failed in the execution; the backstory was murky and difficult to figure out and there was one too many freaky ancient wise people.
The blurb made me really excited for a new series and I was disappointed. I won't read the second even if I get the opportunity. Part of the problem was the length, this is a novella, but it wasn't a series prequel; it was a poorly executed and q...more

4.5 Stars
This was a very different take on Dragons than I have read before. I am really interested in this world the author created and look forward to the next book in this series.

Awesome new world, full review @ http://www.sizzlinghotbooks.net/2012/...
This is a good premise but a bit confusing with the clunky world building. I also thought the romance relied too much on a prophecy bringing the leads together instead of their mutual attraction or emotional involvement. Also, this is clearly book one in what will be a series and I'm not a fan of those. Still, not a terrible read, just rather average.

I love to read. It's a simple fact that has been true since I discovered the worlds of Judy Blume at the age of ten. After years of weekly travel as a consultant implementing computer software into global companies, I ended my nomadic lifestyle to raise my two children. Now, my imagination is my only limitation on where I can go and my writing lets me escape from the daily duties of being a mom, w...more
