I was seriously thrilled to read this book coz let’s face it. How many times can you meet a hot fifty-year-old hero? Yes, please. I’m game anytime! Um…Adam’s gorgeous physique was the best aspect of this story. I am honestly surprised when I look at this high average rating. Have I read the same book? What’s wrong with me? Well, I’m going to tell you what’s wrong with this book. Just keep in mind it’s only my opinion though.

Adam actually safe worded out of the arrangement in order to protect Karla from herself. Yeah, apparently a Master can safe word if he finds that the agreement isn't working. I never knew that. Adam did fail to communicate why he safe worded which left Karla feeling emotionally insecure.

Adam and Karla had so much love for each other, but Adam's demons and own insecurities got in the way. I very much enjoyed how Kally weaved a detailed story where all questions about Adam's past were answered and I loved how his demons were laid to rest. A major feel good moment. The HEA with Karla and Adam was oh so sweet after all the turmoil Adam put me ( and Karla) through. I love Kally's characters because they are not perfect and have physical and emotional scars that they face.

I had originally rated this 4 stars because I was upset with Adam for not being the perfect man I had wanted him to be. But with Karla's help, unconditional love and patience, he turned out to be so much more than I could have wanted. Kally's characters are so in depth and have so many layers. It was a hell of a ride but I enjoyed unraveling the many layers of Adam.(less)

I have been waiting for Adam's book since meeting this extraordinary man in Master at Arms. As none of the books in this series should be read as stand alone I am not going to give a review as if it was.

Its been 9 years since Adam saved Karla from a pimp at a bus station and she has been in love with him ever since.

The title of this book is what Adam has to overcome through out this book - thinking he is Nobody's Hero.

There were two main things that always prevented Adam from giving in to his feelings for Karla and starting a relationship. His guilt over his dead wife Joni and the 25 year age difference between them. As he was recovering from saving Karla from a cougar his defensive's were down and in the midst of a dream and days of being on pain killers made love to Karla. I think the author did a fantastic job of showing us both sides of a relationship between two people with such a vast age difference. Adam has 50 years of pain and regret on his soul where as Karla has all the insecurities of a woman her age. I am in my mid forties and I could still remember having all those feelings and thoughts that Karla did - no matter the age men and women never seem to look or feel they same about something that happens in the relationship. Most of the times the guy is left scratching his head wondering what he did he wrong as Adam did through most of this book. I loved being on the journey with this two as Adam finally conquered all of his demons from the past and Karla finally got her man.

As with with the first book this book doesn't just deal with one couple. We get to see how Marc and Angelina's relationship is progressing. And then when something tragic happens in Damian's family that takes him back to CA this reunites him with Savannah who is now a mother and a counselor but who wants nothing to do with him until something sends her running for his protection at the end of the book setting up there book that comes out this year.

I loved this book and I am looking forward to all the future ones in this series. (less)

That was one hell of an emotional roller coaster- I can’t remember when I last read a book that made me...feel SO much. I did feel everyone’s emotions in this one as if they were my own: Karla’s, Adam’s, Damian’s, Savi’s, Marc’s, Angelina’s, Luke’s, Cassie’s, even Grant’s…they were all so clear and heart-wrenching, I felt like residing in their heads. Brilliant job!

I have had a bit of a crush on Adam since the first book and was so looking forward to his story!! Adam is truly a tortured and damaged soul in desperate need of fixing and this paired with him being total alpha male gorgeousness completely appeals to me! But....unfortunately through most of the story (well until 2/3 in really) I was left frustrated at the constant lack of communication and unnecessary drama. So that is why Adam's book fell short for me. I will say though that I did love the characters and their respective emotions and journey's, it's the massively screwed up way they went about it I had a problem with. As for the yummy scenes all I'll say is HOT!!!!

Adam is 25 years older than Karla and is in major denial about his feelings for her. He keeps rescuing her, the first being when she was 16, and they have kept in touch ever since. Adam feels extremely protective of her and she is a life line to him and unbeknownst to him, at the start, she rescued him too on several occasions. It is not until she enters his club 9 years later that he sees her for the woman she has become and acknowledges that he is attracted to her. However he wants to continue to view her as the 16 year old he met nine years ago and is disgusted with himself for the attraction he has to her now. Adam is so scared to love again and refuses for anyone to get close. His insecurities and troubled soul has built a brick wall round him for protection which results in actions that completely go against the honorable man that he is.

Karla is madly in love with Adam, has been since she was sweet 16. She'd do anything to secure his love - as a man loves a woman. I truly felt for Karla, the amount of times her heart was ripped from her chest I am surprised she came out of this intact! At first I was shouting at her (well my kindle) for being weak and to stand up for herself, however I then asked myself how far would you go/what would you try to reach the man you loved and receive his love back in return??!!

So yes this story was frustrating, but I did enjoy it and Adam came good for me in the end so I am no longer mad at him LOL, it was a close call though!!

I couldn't get into this book. There was too much back story of the cougar attack, not likely, cougars are very solitary and stay away from people, but anyway. This attack is mentioned something like five times by the chapter three with no additional bits of info pertinent to the story revealed. And then, of all things, Adam is in the hospital, laying ON HIS BACK, after this wild animal RIPPED the skin off his back and Karla is laying ON TOP OF HIM?!?! I have to say the author made the characters FEEL SO ALIVE that I felt that I was right there watching everything play out. All the characters in the series seem SO REAL that you feel that they are actual people who are sharing their experiences with you.

Adam may be 50 years and feels that he is too old for 25 year old Karla, but his body sure doesn't show it. Not only does he still have a ripped physique with steel hard muscles and a six pack he has the stamina of a young stallion who really enjoys rough sex. YOWZA!!! Now where can we find men like him!!!

From beginning to end this book had me completely engrossed as Karla tried to prove to Adam that she wasn't a little girl anymore and that the only man she ever loved and will love is him. However, not only does Adam feel that he is too old for her (despite that his body aches for her) he feels that he would be betraying her parents' trust, his loyalty to his dead wife and he truly feels that he cannot offer Karla wants she needs which is love. Due to past trauma in his life he feels that he is incapable of giving someone love (caring, protecting, showing passion yes, but not love) because he has put a wall around his heart and refuses to ever feel vulnerable again.

Eventually Karla manages to break his defenses and engages in a very hot sexual relationship with Adam. On one hand Adam craves for her, but on the other he tries to push her away by setting up a Master/slave (TPE=Total Power Exchange) relationship thinking that it will cause her to run out the door. Little does Adam know that Karla loves him so deeply and completely that she will do anything for him to be with him including total submission. As they engage in the Master/slave relationship Karla discovers she does has a submissive side that she embraces openly which at the same time makes Adam feel completely drawn to her submission to him. Of course things do not go smoothly as the book progresses and obstacles occur which will have you wanting to scream at Adam to give in to his heart.

This book will definitely puts you on an emotional rollercoaster ride where there will be times that you will need a cold shower to cool off from the very hot scenes (my God Adam is such a HOT, ALPHA DOM SEX EXPERT!!!) to grabbing tissues because of both Adam and Karla's heartaches (I wanted so badly to hold Adam in my arms so many times).

The secondary characters were fantastic in adding sustenance to the story with their warmth, care and supportive nature. This book provides a glimpse into Damian and Savi's story which is the next book in the series which I can't wait to read.

There are some surprises in this story which I will not disclose, you will have to read the book to find out, but I truly hope that Kallypso gives us more Adam in the future, maybe another book with him and Karla (please Kallypso we love Adam so much we need more of him, he is the perfect male)! :)(less)

There were some aspects that frustrated me after awhile. There was conflict because of vague, or the total lack of, communication which create unnecessary drama in the mind of Karla for about 80% of the book. In retrospect the whole point of this book seem to stem on the fact that neither Adam nor Karla spent much time being open with each other, more so Adam, which could have saved them a lot of grief. For example, and this part is what really gets this while mess started, was that Adam suggested 24/7 to teach Karla a lesson. Because of her love for him she accepts and when he ends the façade he was less than honest for his reason which sent her tail spinning for excuses and pondering the if/thens. However, I totally blame Adam for the majority of the strife in this whole book. And while Karla spent her time coming up with reasons or excuses for Adam’s actions or comments he spent the whole book denying that he even wanted Karla, or just full out lying to himself and Karla. This just exacerbated the whole issue between the two, like there weren’t enough issue with the fact they were both broken people. I spent a lot of time yelling “just talk to each other” at my iPad! (at least I didn't want it throw it!)

Some might view Karla as being weak, but I see her as far more emotionally stronger of the two. That poor girl dealt with a lot of past issues and in the span of a couple weeks has a lot thrown her way. Yet she remains the rock from start to finish, she had her moments but it only made her human, not frail.

In the end… It’s rare for me to want this, but I was actually hoping she found closure with him and walked away. But Kallypso found a way to carve out a HEA for these two… and I did enjoy it, even if I still felt she was better off leaving. Oh, and the paranormal bits at the end got a little ‘whoo-hoo” crazy for me. Which sort of sent this off into an unbelievable bit when Karla starts quoting her? What’s up with THAT?!?! Started to give me a debbie downer to my story high. /sigh

The BDSM was more intense in this book over the previous books, which I truly enjoyed. Reading rope bondage is a lot of fun, even if I do get lost half the time with their current position in my mind. Oh and hot sex scenes… CHECK!!!!

I’m really looking forward to the next story… since the ending of book one! I foresee lots of action!

This series obviously isn't for me - the main characters have a significant age gap, that wasn't an issue for me until the author kept bringing it up over and over until I felt a little creeped out on behalf of the pair.

Sometimes in a D/s book I find it hard to connect to the characters because of the dynamic in the bedroom - the author is often required to tell us how the sub is feeling and that they're enjoying themselves as the visual telling of the scene may indicate otherwise.

She knew how she felt even if he didn’t. While she was persistent, she was able to see a lost cause when there was one. She wasn’t going to sacrifice being herself for him. Even if it is the Marine she has loved for 9 years. Adam did have a lot of demons to work through being a widower. I really liked Joni’s voice in the story and that she was still so much a part of Adam’s life and his new relationship. What did bother me... okay, here goes... there was too much sex. There, I said it. There was scene after scene, to the point where I started skimming. I think it bothered me because I was so invested in them already that I was anticipating more of the relationship part of their story, not just the Dom/sub part. Which was good, the fourth and fifth time...

Ms. Masters has a way of keeping you on your toes waiting for the next installment! She gave me just enough of Damian to make me want more. I loved Adam and Karla in book 1 but have been most excited about reading Damian and Savannah’s story.

Book 3 in the "Rescue Me/Masters at Arms" series,finally the set-up in the 1st book pans out into a touching story of damaged souls and the strength it takes to allow yourself to change. You'll need tissues for this one, but it's well worth it- and the set up for the next book looks promising.

These books are not stand-alone, be sure to read them in order, or you'll be confused and miss a lot..I wasn't thrilled with the 1st book when I read it, but now I see.....so don't be dissuaded.

This story was of Adam Montague and Karla Paxton who met nine years prior at a bus station in Chicago, Illinois in which Adam saved Karla from a pimp in the bus station and she dubbed him as her hero. But because of all the loss Adam endured during his life, he doesn't consider himself a hero to anyone. Adam just lost his wife Joni of more than twenty years and when he lost her, he had no one left, nothing to live for, but Karla made him see that his life wasn't over and she breathed life into him once again. They kept in touch over the years through letters but it's not until nine years later when she shows up at his club Masters At Arms that Adams starts to see Karla as a woman and not a child. Their age difference is a big obstacle here since Adam is twenty five years older than Karla and Adam doesn't think he has it in his heart again to love another but Karla has decided to wage war on his heart. He even at one point suggests and master/slave agreement just to get Karla to not want a relationship with him, but Karla sticks to the agreement wanting to be with Adam no matter what it took.

While this book does have BDSM in it, it's more of a love story than anything else. The sex scenes are hot, the relationship between Adam and Karla is an emotional one and I loved it. I can't wait to read Nobody's Perfect but I will have to go back and read Nobody's Angel first to read the story that took place prior to the events that occurred in Nobody's Hero. If you enjoyed reading this series, I also recommend reading the Club Shadowlands series by Cherise Sinclair.(less)

Ok, so I loved Kallypso Masters’ debut novel, Masters At Arms, and her second in the series, Nobody’s Angel. So once I finished those, I was waiting for Adam and Karla’s story, Nobody’s Hero. Ok, so I loved Kallypso Masters’ debut novel, Masters At Arms, and her second in the series, Nobody’s Angel. So once I finished those, I was waiting for Adam and Karla’s story, Nobody’s Hero. It felt like forever… (September to December… that’s forever, right?? It is according to my kids anyway.) But it’s finally here!! And it is gooood!

When Karla Paxton ran away from home at 16, she didn’t expect to get into a bad situation, nor did she expect a passing Marine, by the name of Adam Montague, to save her. After he made sure she got home, safe and sound, to her parents, they exchanged letters over the next nine years, helping each other through some tough times. When Karla unexpectedly finds herself working in the BDSM club that Adam co-owns, she realizes her teenage crush has turned into more. If only she can get past Adam’s good intentions and show him that she’s not a girl anymore.

So I loved this book. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to slap Adam upside the head a few…several times. It’s such a sweet story. But it’s also hot and steamy. (I think Ms Masters made Santa’s naughty list.) The characters awesome and well rounded. Some of the fantasies were very very um… yeah… there’s a reason that they are fantasies. :) I loved seeing Marc and Angie again, and learning a bit about what’s coming up for Damian.

Now, as much as I loved the story, I did wish that there weren’t Damian views in the midst of Adam and Karla’s story. I enjoyed learning about what was going on with Damian from Adam and Karla’s POV, and having his POV at the end worked great. But leaving Adam and Karla and going to Damian doing something entirely unrelated, just pulled me out of Adam and Karla’s story a bit. It wasn’t a huge issue, just a bit of an irksome moment or two.

Having said that, READ this book!! Did you get an e-reader for Christmas? This should be the first book you put on it. :) Oh, and jarhead… you better be careful in a few months, she’s not going to be happy if you let those silly notions actually come to fruition. Just sayin’.(less)

I finished Kallypso Masters' book Nobody's Hero and it was beyond my expectations!. I knew this book was good when I went to sleep and the book continues to play in my head. It was very emotional for me. You will need tissues at all times. There are very few authors that have moved me so much that it takes me a few days to recover from reading their books - Kallypso Masters is now among them. MAKE IT RIGHT JARHEAD!!!!

ADAM and KARLA’S STORY…

Ok… so glad I read the beginning FREE book “Masters At Arms,” so that I could understand these characters and why and how they interact with each other… it also was a nice teaser to have the end of “Nobody’s Angel” kind of start out Adam and Karla’s story… just a bit…

ADAM and KARLA’S STORY…

Ok… so glad I read the beginning FREE book “Masters At Arms,” so that I could understand these characters and why and how they interact with each other… it also was a nice teaser to have the end of “Nobody’s Angel” kind of start out Adam and Karla’s story… just a bit…

There is so much to this story… so much past hurt… so much past regrets… so much each person has to learn from the other… I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this story for my brief time reading it…

I was laughing, crying, and getting pissed all in the same 10 minutes… My heart was breaking for Karla. All she wants if for Adam to love her… she’s wanted it ever since she was 16 years old, but he’s professed to be incapable of that, so of course Karla settles for whatever she can get from him… which by the way is killing her (and me) in the process!!!!

I was uber pissed at Adam for agreeing to teach Karla the lifestyle, but making it extreme and hard in hopes that she would “safeword” and it would be all over… my heart was aching for Karla… man if I could have reached in that book and slapped the crap out of Adam, I think I would have done it several times!!! You know what it’s like when you do something for someone that you really don’t want to do, but you do it just so they’ll like/love you, but it’s killing you and making you sad…Selling your soul to win someone’s love is just too painful and usually doesn’t work!!! Can you imagine saying… “He’ll always have my heart even though he left it bruised”??? I sobbed just typing that!!!

It’s always my favorite part when the dude realizes he effed up and has to figure out how to win his woman back… grovel, beg, crawl, etc…

All in all, I really enjoyed this story… and I’m glad to see that Damien and Savannah will be the next book… that beginning for them in “Master At Arms” really pulled on my heart strings… I need more Damien/Savy time!!!

Like a lot of romance the issues in this story could have been resolved in the characters had just sat down and actually talked. But, then there would be no story. Having these two met at such an epic moment with the heroine, , is only 16 caused a lot of this stories tension. It was certainly an epic first meeting, and only got better from there. I Decided to read this series for Master Adam, a charismatic, charming, mature character, and I was curious to read His Story with Karla saw the age difference. If Mark Master had problems with the sincerity, Master Adam Them with the control and communication because the Karla said her feelings since he made a mistake after another ... Odd, given the age and experience. I do not think it was very "ethical" to propose a TPE to Karla just to scare her, Them much less carry it in the first scene...more

All that she knew was that Adam is the love of her life and she would do anything to please him untill she realizes that she is comprising who she is as an individual.They dev a Master/slave relationship which fails ,then a DOM/sub relationship which in the end works for them.Once again,simply amazing read for me.I am looking forward to reading more by this author,going to read book #2 now.(less)

He is a Master to top all masters and completely unapologetic. He is dominating but protective and just a tiny bit stubborn. It’s a good thing that Karla is just as stubborn as Master Adam because she wants him, she plans to have him, and nothing is going to stop her. The results are electrifying and so pleasingly naughty!

I wholeheartedly with great pleasure and much fan girl love Joyfully Recommend Nobody’s Hero by Kallypso Masters! Nobody’s Heroencompasses everything I hoped for Master Adam. He deserves his happily ever after and with Karla by his side, I believe he has finally found the peace and balance he needs. Please be aware that Nobody’s Hero is the third book of Ms. Masters’ Rescue Me series and it does tie into books one (Masters at Arms) and two (Nobody’s Angel). I highly encourage reading those installments first before reading Nobody’s Hero in order to get character plotlines and back stories. You won’t be sorry!

A tearjerker. I didn't read the previous books since the first one did not guarantee a HEA and the second one didn't appeal to me. But I'm a sucker for Diana Palmer gruff older heroes and young virgin heroines who go after the man they want. There were a lot of previous characters and backstory mentioned in the first chapter but I didn't have a problem catching up with how each character related to each other and the history leading up to the story's main characters.

The book has a wonderful HEA and not just a simple HEA and the end, but the ending was amazing, and loving and just really romantic. It was not easy getting to that however and I learned a lot more about the BDSM lifestyle including the differences between Master/Slave relationships versus Dom/Sub relationships.
