I know it's been a while since I read this book (started on February 27 and finished on March 2) from the time I am writing this review, but things have been busy lately, and haven't had the time.

I was reluctant at first. Even though I live in Toronto I grew up in the States where hockey was not big deal, at least not in my neighborhood. But once I started reading I couldn't put it down. This is far more than a hockey book -- though hockey fans and especially fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs will be thrilled to own this. It's really about the history of a relatively new city, finding its place in the world, about a young war veteran's ambition, who started with nothing but absolute drive....more
