Pride is a tracker, kept in a cellar by her master. She always hopes to one day escape and find freedom, so when her master plans to force her to breed to tame her, Pride knows she must run. As pride is on the run with a boy she feels a connection to but also the boy she was sent to track, she not only has to be on the look out for her masters handler and tracker but also the Paranormal Task Force, who is trained to shoot first ask later.

Pride's Run is deep, dark and a tad bit disturbing. I really enjoyed it! Pride is an amazing character that is a complete joy to read about. Her struggles with her "flaws" and trust are realistic. The connection between Pride and Logan is also realistic, slow and iffy, not rushed or forced. Logan is kind and caring when it comes to Pride. As anyone who knows me will tell you, I'm a large fan of the shifter genre. Wolves, cats, hyenas, whatever...if it's shifter books, chances are I'll at least give it a read. I'm glad I gave this one a chance.

So I read the blurb of this book and the words popping into my head were 'thrill', 'trauma', 'escape' and 'hunt.' All of which are pretty promising for a book to have...Four star material? And then of course the word 'romance' cropped up...made me think that maybe,this book had what it takes to get up into the Hollywood star of fame region; Completely legendary.

In the beginning, reading this book was nearly like reading a handbook. BUT the moment Logan came in it started getting better.
Werewolves. I love them... These ones... notso much.
This book was fast, yet slow. I mean progress was slow because most of it was when Pride and Logan were in the forest, trying to get to wherever.

Where to start. I enjoyed reading Pride's Run. It has a different twist on the whole werewolf world. There are humans who have enslaved werewolves to do their bidding. Pride who was born into enslavement is sent out on a mission to track a boy and kill him. But things do not go as planned. The characters were thoroughly written and there's a plot twist (or two, I guess?) that make you do a double take, but all in all this is just a solid lead into the next book.

Let me first state that this would have been a four star if it hadn't been for major - and I do mean major- lay out issues in the kindle version. As this is a self published book, that does hit the ratings because it's something the author is responsible for. This greatly diminished my ability to enjoy the story.

I'm becoming more and more hesitant when selecting a YA read as opposed to the hotter and meatier adult paranormal / Indie books. Yet I was so very relieved to discover, after just the first couple of chapters of Pride's Run, that this book was a keeper!

I liked it.
It was a nice easy read with a new take on werewolves. It was really imaginative. And I really liked Pride as the main character. She's a very believable character for the situation she's in. And you could emapathize with her plight.
I especially liked her growth as a person throughout the story.
My only peeve (which is my general peeve toward teen reads) is the WHAM BAM I THINK I LOVE YOU MA'AM manner in which the romance occurs. They meet and 60 pages pages later (aka 4 days later...more

I truly enjoyed this book. The characters are well developed and easy to invest in. The story is wonderfully written and nicely edited. Cate Kalen has a way with words and the ability to put the reader on the edge of their seat. I never would have guessed that this was a debut novel, this is quality writing!

I value my sleep and will only very rarely give-up my 8 hours of rest for a book. A sacrifice that I was more than happy to make for Pride's Run. The title might have you thinking "cats" but don't be fooled; this story is 100% werewolf! The main character's point of view is raw and primal. i think the problem for me with this book is that i just wanted more. i loved the concept and when i began reading i was so involved with the story- i loved Pride and fell in love with Logan- but i just kept waiting for there to be more and more danger or for the bad guys (who she kept refering to) to show up...but they didnt! some other problems were some repetitive phrases like the 'pewter flecks in his eyes' and the PTF people were constantly refered to as the 'guys who shoot fi...more

This book is really intense n it grows on as u read.
I loved Pride's character..she is a stronghead,bad ass werewolf...but she has her weakness,she has trust issues - "Trust No One But Family"(I love this quote),she longs for bring a normal girl ...yet she know her responsibilities.
And She try to overcome all those through the journey with Logan.
Logan is a strong character - a Alpha ..who knows how to handle pride n make her trust him n open her to love!

I was caught up immediately in Pride's character and the tension of the first few chapters. The novel had lovely attention to detail that captured Pride's strength and desires superbly well.

Started out really good and went downhill from there. I really like the premise, but it doesn't deliver. Most of the story is spent on the budding relationship between Pride and Logan. There's a lot of telling and not much showing about how great of a tracker/hunter Pride us. She spends a lot of time complaining about her appearance. There are some laughable and weird scenes between them when they are both in wolf form. What turned me off the most was that I read the reviews about books 2 and 3...more

Pride's Run is outstanding! It's not like anything I've read lately, and it is definitely not your average werewolf book. I was hooked from the first chapter. Which I have to say is probably the best first chapter ever! Cat Kalen created an extraordinary setting, and awesome characters. I can't wait to start the next book!

I have not had much experience with wolf/shifter books. I'm not really sure, but I have always been hesitant of them in the past. Pride's Run is my first experience where a wolf is the main focus. And I have to say that I really enjoyed it!

So, I'm looking at all the 4 and 5 star reviews for this book and thinking, "Huh? Did I miss something? Are we reading the same book?"
I don't know. It's not like it was bad or anything. Again, it was a book to kill time and it delivered in that respect. It's just that it didn't really do anything I didn't expect it to do. And the writing was okay. But it didn't make me fall all over myself just to read it again. So.

This was the first book where the main characters are werewolves. I wasn't sure if this was one story I could get in to but I LOVED it! After a few pages of getting to know Pride, I was hooked! I had to see what was in store for her! I really liked Logan and how patient he was with her trusting him. The end kind of sneaks up on you though. I thought I had 10% left and the book ended at 89% on my Kindle. That always throws me because I expected more story at the end based on that alone. Otherwise...more
