A king (shown here as a pig in fine clothes) zealously guards his apple tree, the only one in the kingdom and one which bears gloriously sweet fruit. Despite his efforts to keep the tree pristine, it becomes infested with worms. When he discovers the reason, the whole kingdom benefits from the solution.

This is a great story. The apple king is selfish with his apples until one day his precious tree is overtaken with worms. The worms teach the king a lesson. Great way to introduce fairy tales and it's a different kind of "one upon a time" to keep kid's interest. PreK-3
