I'm numb. I'm shocked. I'm blown away.

I can't think of a better way to start this review, than using my all-time favourite quote.

“I've never been afraid of ghosts. I live with them daily, after all. All the time the ghosts flit past and through us, hiding in the future. We look in the mirror and see shades of other faces looking back through the years; we see the shape of memory, standing solid in an empty doorway. By blood and by choice, we make our own ghosts; we haunt ourselves.” Diana Gabald

Again, Karina Halle has managed to keep me enthralled from the moment I started reading this book until the very last page. I kept telling myself: one more chapter and then I REALLY need to go to sleep! But I was just unable to put it down and ended up finishing it in the early hours of the morning...

Lying Season is all about the past, about the demons that haunt you and about learning...more

I re-read this in 2012...liked it. Just trying to make my GR goal!

'tis the season of the lie. Perry gets more than she bargains for when she travels up to Seattle to spend the week living with Dex and his uber hot and sickly sweet girlfriend, Jennifer. In their tiny Belltown apartment. Not that she's a sucker for punishment (well, maybe just a little), but there's a haunted insane asylum to investigate, as well as the company (Shownet) Christmas party AND a douchey rival ghost-hunting team that...more

I loved this book!!! Its my favorite one out of the series so far!!! I don’t think I can say it enough how obsessed I am with this series!!

My emotions are all over the place. I can’t believe that just happened. I didn’t expect this book to end the way it did. I’m literally heartbroken….

Where do I even begin with this review?!?

I finished Lying Season in the wee hours of the morning (sleep? Who needs sleep?!), and now several hours later, I am still finding it difficult to put my thoughts together in order to write this review. It has been stated by several people that this series only gets better and better with each book, and that is definitely true.

Karina Halle's skill at creating a story that grabs you from the first page and forces you to ignore every a...more

I'm speechless...... *crickets*

Well that was my reaction at the end of this book. Not that I didn't absolutely LOVE IT!!!! Karina Halle is taking this story way beyond the limits of my imagination!!! And I'm loving it!!!!

Lying Season starts right where they left off after Dead Sky Morning. Dex and Perry have been back from the island of death now for a couple of weeks and bac...more

Wow, utterly amazing! Karina Halle is a genius! Experiment in Terror series are so perfect that no words can describe how much I love it. These books are definitely in my TOP 3 series of all time!

Lying Season is perfectly written book. I was absolutely amazed by the style of writing which sucked me in and I could not stop reading until I finished it all. Maybe I did not like all the events that took place, or things that were said in this book but I am sure it was inevitable for the sake of stor...more

Got a secret Can you keep it? wear this one you'll save
Better lock it, in your pocket, Taking this one to the grave
If I show you then I know you, Won't tell what I said
Cause two can keep a secret, If one of them is dead…

Or at least on this one, more than one is DEAD!!!

I know I said that Dead Sky Morning is the scariest and best book so far.. I stand corrected, LYING SEASON IS THE BEST SO FAR!!!!

In this book, Dex and Perry are battling the most evil, wicked ghost they have ever encountered which...more

I felt like I had that rare upper hand again. It was a sick, sad thing to want but couldn't help but grab at it. With Dex, you never knew how long it would be until the rug was pulled out from under you again.

4.5 STARS

It was all sh*ts and giggles... then this book happened. If I'm going to draw up an analogy to what reading this book felt like, I'm going to have to pick the "getting papercuts all over the body then getting pushed in a vat of alcohol after" scenario.

There's something very raw...more

OMG, I am exhausted! I can’t believe all that I’ve been through while reading this book! TOO MANY FEELINGS!!!!! I was ecstatic, heartbroken, and scared out of my head, over and over, the whole time I was reading. Seriously, there wasn't a 'calm down' section, it was full on from start to finish. And that ending!! OMG, what was that ending?!

But let’s backtrack a bit…

Again, the focus in this book is very much the relationship between Dex and Perry as they continue their flirty, banter-filled, dri...more

What a roller coaster! I'm lost for words but I can just say that I'm in love with Dex and I have a great admiration for Perry. She's my heroine, I've got a girl crush, yes, I just said it, Perry Palomino you rock!

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG.... I can't believe I have to wait for On Demon Wings. This series is fantastic. The buildup between the characters starts with the first book and continues on through books 2, 3, and 4! I started reading Dark House a week ago...thinking it would be just another book, but nooooooooo... I had to have Book 2: Red Fox (which I ended up getting through Goodreads, because I couldn't find it for my nook anywhere else, then Book 3: Dead Sky Morning and finally Book 4 Lying Seasons....more

I need to breathe. Lying season was a roller coaster ride which literally took my breath away. Nobody would probably believe me but I think I this is my favourite book so far. I loved loved loved it.

It's Christmas time and Perry is invited to Shownet’s Christmas Party. This is all fine and good but she has to stay with Dex and his girlfriend during this time. Painful. At the same time, the Experiment in Terror team has to shoot the next episode in a mental hospital....more

I wasn't sure I was totally onboard with the Experiment in Terror books after book #1. I liked it a lot, loved the characters and the dialog but I just wasn't feeling the paranormal aspect. But after reading how much my favorite book blogger loved this series I kept going. Am I ever glad I did!

WOW…the books kept getting better and better. Perry and Dex are default ghost hunters who document their adventures for an internet show. Lying Season, book # 4 was the best one yet…still scary, with load...more

Another fabulous tale from Karina Halle.

My first thoughts upon reading the synopsis for this one were "Oh. Dear. You are kidding me, right?"

I mean, we've heard about Dex's girlfriend Jenn a few times in the first three books. We've heard how hot she is and how much everyone lusts after her blah blah blah, including Dex (gag). But that was kind of okay because it was only talk; she wasn't right there in the picture. She was removed, vague, i...more

Is Dex Foray one of the biggest assholes ever or what?! Seriously, why are people in love with this sh!thead????!!!!

Haunted mental institution? What ghosts? Seriously, the creep factor remains intact. But for the first time ever in the series, it is completely upstaged as the tension between Dex and Perry reached unbearable proportions. Throw in bitchy little Jenn (why are she and Dex together?) in the mix and we get an ending that makes you want to kill someone (his name rhymes with sex) and th...more

Lying Season has Perry on her way to Seattle to film for her show Experiment in Terror at an asylum. So where oh where does one stay while in Seattle? With Dex and his girlfriend Jenn of course! Oy, is that awkward as hell? I tried to stomach along with Perry that increasingly precarious arrangement.

“Yep,” I said, pulling the shoes out of the box. His brows went to the heavens.

“Wow. Those are like…Jenn shoes.”

“These are not hooker shoes,” I said defensively.

“Well played,” he said.

My heart broke for Perry. And as frustrated and as pissed off as I am at Dex, I can't help but feel for him as well.

These two people are so broken and so lost and throughout this book we fall witness to all of this as it unfolds. This book is full of longing and yearning, full of hope and desperation. But most important of all, this book is filled to the rim with fear.

Yes, yes... don't you worry your little pants off. There's plenty of creepy, scary things that make you jump. The scare-level of...more

OMG! ARE YOU KIDDING ME WITH THIS?!

So, normally I try and put something together that might make some sense, but I just can't this time…. This one was FUCKING AMAZING!!! It hurt to read….it was TERRIFYING, but more than that…it was HEARTBREAKING. So now, I'm on my way to buy every nightlight and light bulb at the nearest hardware store. Then, I'm going to find out WHAT THE HELL HAPPENS NEXT??? Here are my thoughts in gif form…..

Ok, slight over reaction... but by the time i finished this book i was sat strait up and glued to the kindle, screaching blue murder!

My first 5 star rating in a while and by far the best Experiment in Terror book i've read to date. So much infact i think i will be putting book 5 to the top of my queue!

This book i think was 'less of the terror' & more of the relationship development between dear ol Dex and Kiddo Perry.

What I just read? Really, WTF I just read? I’m beyond words right now and I will do my best to write this review. Although this book is spooky as the previous of the series, it also is about something far more terrifying. Feelings. Emotions. Desires. In this story we learn more about Perry and Dex and their dark past. And then we can understand how much this past made them what they are now. So similar and so different at the same time.

Perry’s personal hell is in front of her. She has to go to...more

Well I can safely say that Lying Season left my head spinning. This series literally does get better and better with every book (and considering the high standards of the previous books that is some feat).

Lying Season takes the action to Seattle. Dex has gotten himself and Perry a gig filming at a local mental institution. Even more terrifying though, Perry has to stay with Dex and his girlfriend Jenn for the duration of the shoot. Given how Perry is desperately in love with Dex, she knows this...more

When I first started this series, I was excited. A haunted lighthouse? Yes! But then I read Red Fox with its haunted couple and thought, YES! This is awesome! THEN, I read Dead Sky Morning, with the haunted island and was jumping out of my seat. A haunted island is the BEST THING EVER! And now, I read Lying Season where Dex and Perry are going to a haunted mental institution? It just keeps getting better and better!

I was so worried starting this series, thinking that I wasn’t going to be scared,...more

Kelly first introduced me to this series and I am so glad that I have continued on. Each book in the series continues to get better as Perry’s world expands and unfolds. And yes, as soon as I finish this review, I have every intention of diving right back into this world to see what happens next.

*blinks at you* Oh my glob! Though I still have my issues with Perry’s narration, THIS BOOK is what I needed, I think, to find some footing with Perry and Dex’s relationship. Seriously. It’s making me sw...more

First, I want to thank Karina Halle for brightening a totally craptastic day. I was having a rotten, no good afternoon at work, but when I came home and found the UPS package sitting on my computer chair containing Lying Season, it became a million times better. I wanted to read it all in one sitting, but the holidays made that difficult, so I had to survive on small chunks at a time until I could finally devote an entire evening to ripping through it. It was totally worth the wait.

OF course not as much as Perry and Dex do. Much as I loved this book, there were time I just wanted to slap the 2 of them. Yell at Perry to just lay it on the line. Have "the talk". Especially if she wanted to be able to bleed out. But...more

**Mild Spoilers Ahead**

Another great novel of the Experiment in Terror series, by Karina Halle.

It was a truly amazing read! I mean, who passes a haunted mental asylum story? Certainly not me!

In the fourth installment of the "Experiment in Terror" series, Perry goes to Seattle to crash to Dex's and Jenn's apartment. Yeah, I know. Bad Idea! Anyway, Perry is not a masochist. I mean, she goes there because she and Dex are going to film Riverside, a still functioning mental asylum/hospital which is -...more
