I bought this book sight unseen because it was on sale and I enjoy Maya Banks's KGI series. Imagine my surprise.
Although this series is probably put in the erotic genre, I am making my own romantic fantasy genre because these folks do not live in any reality I know. Basically it's an emotional utopia where no one feels jealous, inadequate, slighted, or wronged. Everyone is filled with a warm and fuzzy unconditional love in which its presence is never in doubt or its withdrawal ever considered....more

I read the entire series to date over a 10 day period.
This latest installment reads like an epilogue of the entire story to date. Much like the rest of the series, plot line is thin. There are few, if any, plot surprises or twists in any if the installments and this book is no exception. Bit at this point, if you've read the other 3, you probably have some interest in the characters. This book gives you another glimpse into their lives and resolves one if the "issues" left with Lily and her men...more

Fourth in the Colters' Legacy erotic romance series based in Clyde, Colorado in the Rocky Mountains. The couple focus is mostly on Lily with her men---Dillon, Michael, and Sean. A secondary focus is on Holly with her men---Ryan, Ethan, and Adam along with Callie Colter and her husband Max Wilder.
My Take
Sweet, but very short. More of a bridge novel with everyone settling in. It's not about sex, although, with three "couples", two of whom are composed of one woman and three men, sex is a given. It...more

I was so excited to get this latest installment of Maya Banks’ Colter family. I’ve enjoyed reading about this unique family since the first book. Not many authors are able to give readers a balanced read with romance, the erotic, and a good storyline, but not so the case with this Colters’ Legacy series from Ms. Banks. Each book has been thoroughly enjoyable to read, and it’s nice to know there’s more to come.

This books give us the whole Colter family POV in one book. We get to see what is going on in the lives of Holly, Adam, Ethan and Ryan. Its been 30 years since they found her lying in that ditch. Holly has become the matriarch of the family. But when something happens to her the family struggles to keep it together.

This was a shorter book than the others in the series. It read more like a very extended epilogue where we get to catch up with all the Colter characters.
What I did not like: There really was no storyline or obvious plot to follow, no actual conflicts. Most scenes were too sugary, I lost count how many times the word "loving" came up.
What I liked: The author's writing is very good, her style works for me and is very pleasant and easy to follow. I also loved getting updated on everyone because...more
This story was like going to a family reunion for me. For the past few years I have enjoyed The Colter Family's stories written by Maya Banks. This last book was short and sweet, and gave fans an update on the lives of all of our beloved characters from the series. The whole Colter family is going to be together for Christmas, and there are a few surprises in store. There is also an additional character as well, and that is Callie's husband Max's sister; Lauren. She has been recently physically...more
This reads like one giant epilogue for the series, or perhaps serves as a spin-off for a new series about Max Wilder's (Colters' Daughter) abused sister Lauren. For fans of the series I suppose it's an okay read, but I was hoping for more of a plot and a little more heat.
Anyhow, it's almost Christmas, and all the Colters and their spouses are finally home in Clyde, Colorado at the same time. Holly and her husbands --Adam, Ryan, and Ethan (Colters' Woman) and their offspring Dillon, Seth, and Mic...more

This latest Colters’ story gives us a peek at what the family’s up to, what’s going on in their lives and introduces us to Lauren, Max’s sister. The book goes back and forth from each couples point of view, but really follows the women: Holly, Callie, Lily and a small glimpse at Lauren.
Holly, ever the mama bear, wants to finally give her family a home cooked meal and as the story is set around the holidays, she enlists Lily’s help in le...more

Colters’ Promise is a wonderful new book in the Colters’ Legacy series. There wasn’t any one focal point of the story, but a little from each family. We meet Lily again from Colters’ Lady after she has been living with Seth, Michael and Dillon as their wife and they as her husbands. From her story we learn her fear of having another child after losing her daughter, Rose, to SIDS. This fear translates into this story when she realizes she is pregnant again. The terror she feels, but also the love...more
This was a short book and I'm in a hurry so I'll do a quick and dirty review:
I love the Colters' legacy series. More so because it was my first experience with the whole "menage" genre of romance. Colters' Promise was a very enjoyable book, although not as much as fun as the first two. There was really only one sex scene--and for an erotic romance, you need at least 3! Also, there were too many plot lines going on for such a short book. I have no idea why Lauren had to be inserted into the book,...more

I love the Colter series but this story was a big disappointment. It was sugar poured on syrup over a candy bar - so sweet it made my teeth ache. A lot of serious subjects were touched on but were avoided to keep you swimming in an ocean of honey. I really looked forward to reading this story but I was seriously disappointed. Where was the conflict? And where was the resolution?

This was my first Maya Banks book, and I obviously should have started somewhere else. I’m not saying that this one wasn’t good, because it was, it was just telling the reader a later storyline to plotlines that I should have known already. I do plan to read the previous books, and this did kind of tell me which ones I would like to know more, but it still would have been better to start with the first one.

Okay, I feel a little weird reviewing this.
I've read the whole series and well, Angie {Smut Book Club} has me embracing my love of a little bit of smut.
The series is not for the faint of heart. If you're not into erotica, with pretty explicit descriptions, this isn't the book for you. Also, if you're not a fan of multiple partners or BDSM, you won't like this either. You have been warned.

A very nice (what I’m considering) conclusion to the Colters’ series. I felt that Ms. Banks tied up a lot of nice HEAs with this book while giving the reader a chance to once again visit with some of her favorite characters, Colters’ and Wilder alike. This was a pretty quick read for me, I finished it in close to two hours, but it was a very enjoyable two hours. Somehow I missed the books in the middle of the series but now I’m intrigued enough to go back and pick them up. In fact, I would love...more
This was a great introduction for me to the Colters. It was warm, sweet, funny and even included one sexy love scene between Lily and her three husbands – Seth, Dillon and Michael.
Those familiar with the Colter family will feel an even greater connection to Colters’ Promise than I did. It was great getting to spend time with three different sets of people and I hope Max’s sister, Lauren, gets her own happy ending in a future Maya Banks story.

I believe this was my 1st book my MB.It was a surprise due to its menage theme. I give it 3-3.5 stars. I do plan to read the beginning of this series. I want to know how things came to be from the original main characters. Smiles.

I'm such a fan girl of Maya Banks Colter's series and was over the flipping moon when I realised there was a 4th book. I loved cacthing up with the Colter family. Colter's Promise is set 2 years after book #3 and it features characters from the first three books and new characters for book #5 which I'm so happy for but sad I have to wait until April 2013 to read Lauren's story.

(August) 3.5* While this book was really a whole lotta nothing, it was still very sweet. I love how MB makes the families appear completely normal - sorry, don't really think it's possible for 3 brothers to hook up with one woman and their family be accepted as just a normal, average everyday family (small town living?!). That said, glad the book didn't focus to much on Callie and Max, as they are not my favorites. This should really be billed as a Xmas story, because that is really what it was....more
I'll put this around a 3.5 to a 4.
This one reads like an extended epilogue to the Colters and I didn't mind that. There's a few low-key drama bits, one sexy scene (a departure from the rest of the series), and a hint that more may be in store for this family.
This is definitely only for the big fans of the series. I could see it being read as a waste of time for some, but it was a nice glimpse into the future of these couples. Luckily, I waited for the sale and bought it for $2.99. If it were a...more

The next chapter in Lily's life, and the jump in Callie's life takes you by surprise if you haven't read the book set between Colters' Lady and Colters' Promise. It weaves everyone into each others' lives more solidly and more solidly introduces Max's sister Lauren into the family fold. Now with Lily expecting, and the guys (Dillon, Seth, and Michael) are thrilled and determined to be there for everything. Lily has blossomed under their love and care, and Holly can cook!!! WOOT!

Sorry but only three stars from me. I loved all the previous Colter books, but overall, though it was nice to catch up with all the families and see what was happening to them, at over £4.00 this was seriously overpriced!! Nothing much happened in the book, not much story and not much sex, it was just as if the publishers told Maya Banks to "knock out"a book quickly and we will rake in the pounds. Because of the previous books in the series and it was nice to catch up, I gave three stars, but if...more
I got this book thinking that it was another Colters' story with the grandchildren (I hadn't read the blurb) but was pretty disappointed when I found that it was really a Christmas story. Pretty much nothing overly interesting happened.

Maya Banks is full of awesome. She creates these characters that make me smile. I'm coming into this series with book 4 and I still felt like I knew these people from page 1. They're just *cuddles them all* so lovely.
At heart, this is a book about family. The relationships might be a bit unconventional but they love each other like there's no tomorrow. It's sweet and beautiful. This book follows the Colter mama and her three husbands, the three Colter sons and their special lady, and the Colter...more

This is one of many series by Maya Banks that I just love! With an point of view from all the characters I was so happy to get a glimpse in their happy ever afters. You do not always get that in most stories or just a short epilogue but Banks took it a step further and gave us a whole book.

What can I say about this book?It was absolutely amazing!I think Maya banks gets better every times she writes another book for the Colters legacy series.
The books is from pretty much everyones POV and it's like a christmas special episode for the series. In this book we see the Colter's family Christmas together. We also see Lauren,Max's sister whose story probably is going to be on the fifth book.
The book starts with Lily at the doctor's office as she thinks(or rather she knows)that she is pregn
If you're a fan of the Colters' Legacy series by Maya Banks, this is definitely something you'll want to read. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

The Colters is one of my all time favourite menage series. Banks had turned strong men into real people with genuine emotions and thoughts.
This book is the story of all the married kids and spouses home for Christmas and Holly wanting it to be special.

Maya Banks lives in Texas with her husband, three children and assortment of cats. When she's not writing, she can be found hunting, fishing or playing poker. A southern girl born and bred, Maya loves life below the Mason Dixon, and more importantly, loves bringing southern characters and settings to life in her stories.
