Molly Hacker is Too Appealing!

As a single woman in a couples world, I was drawn to this novel. But it wasn't until I cyber-met the lovely Lisette Brodey when she interviewed me at her Author Chateau that I bumped this story to the top of my list. And what a funny, clever story it is.

Molly Hacker is a 32-year-old newspaper reporter whose single status seems to be of great concern to her friends and family. "Just settle down with a husband!" they say. "Stop being too picky!"

But Molly doesn't want

I received this book from the goodreads giveaway. I'm so happy that I did. I loved it so much. This book is so well written, it is a amazing experience. I would have to say the best book I've read of 2012 so far. I found the book full of real life situations as Molly looks for love, however the author has given her a humors twist on life. This book does exactly what I love most about books, it makes you feel like your there with Molly. I have to admit I did have a tissue moment at the end. Aweso ...more

Molly Hacker is Too Picky - Is she really? Fun, witty, and insightful

As so many of Lisette Brodey’s fans, I “met” Molly Hacker on her blog and was very curious to “connect” with her again in the novel. She is quite a character, witty, spunky, and a good sport. However, when it comes to finding Mr. Right, she has to overcome quite a few obstacles: her own somewhat confused ideas and feelings about love, her well-meaning but somewhat pushy friends, an important woman (the she-devil) in the media i

Reporter Molly Hacker prefers to write obituaries rather than report on the overwhelming minutiae of high society weddings. It's only a temporary project she takes on in conjunction with her usual reporting assignments, but it facilitates the beginning of relationships that could have a permanent effect on her love life and future. Could it finally mean wedding bells? Will she have to set aside her "pickiness" in order to take the trip down the aisle? Does one have to sacrifice their standards a ...more

I found Lisette Brodey's book “Molly Hacker Is Too Picky!” to be convincingly real. It drew me in as if I were there in person and an ear for Molly to confide in, sharing information as if my best friend was speaking to me. I felt privileged to be accepted into Molly’s life; that is how the book made me feel.

Lisette Brodey’s characters are so broad, diverse, and distinct that when reading the dialogue, I knew who was speaking without having to read “he said” or “she said” and it never faulted.

Molly Hacker Is Too Picky! (Lisette Brodey)

With her girlfriends trying to give her advise, four men pursing her, one ex love that won't leave her mind and her male BFF (and coworker) trying to help her along the way. Add to

I loved this book. I tried to think of another way to start this review, but that is the overwhelming thing that comes to mind. Reading Molly Hacker Is Too Picky! is like getting together with an old friend you haven't seen for a while and catching up on all that has happened in her life during the past year. You know the experience... two friends sitting down over coffee, refilling cups a few times, but then ultimately gabbing as the coffee turns stone-cold. People nearby are muttering because ...more

This is a fun book. I don't read much chick lit these days, but this book is written by an author who knows how to create realistic characters, so this is not a typical chick-lit book. It has depth. I've read both of Lisette Brodey's other books, Crooked Moon, and Squalor, New Mexico, so I already knew she was a talented author. This book proves that she is also very adept at writing in different styles and genres. In Molly Hacker Is Too Picky! Lisette Brodey has created a larger than life charac ...more

I enjoy a lot of books, but “Molly Hacker Is Too Picky!” was something truly a special read for me. After I finished it, the story stayed in my head for many days and I asked myself why. Finally, it dawned on me. The characters in this book are all so real. Molly is so relatable. I laughed out loud in so many places because when Molly spoke I could hear myself or one of my many friends saying exactly the same thing. Molly is not only funny but she is honest about her vulnerabilities. For me, Mol ...more

Lisette Brodey’s latest novel once again highlights her admirable flexibility as a writer, and her exceptional skill as one of today's great character-driven storytellers.

From the opening chapter I was drawn to Molly Hacker’s delightful wit as she sets out in pursuit for her ideal man. The group of colourful and often peculiar characters all play an important role in Molly’s life. I found myself laughing (many times) as the story develops. The story spans over a 12-month period ending with a spe

Sometimes I want a book that makes me laugh. One that brightens my mood and shows me the better side of humanity. I want a book light in mood, but not light in content. I want to care about the characters, be surprised, and be entertained. That can be a lot to ask for, but this book is all of those things and more.

Lisette Brodey gives us the chick-lit experience with literary flavor. I found myself savoring certain passages and re-reading sentences for the sheer enjoyment of the words.

This book is exceptionally well-written, not the chick-lit book I thought it would be; it was so much more. A fun read and something any woman can relate to - I just wish someone would turn into into a film. Sooner rather than later!

After following Lisette Brodey's popular character blog, 'Too picky?...(I think not!)' over the last 9 months or so and looking forward to my weekly Molly `fix', I have been eagerly awaiting the novel, 'Molly Hacker Is Too Picky!'

I was thinking it was going to be along the same lines as Molly's blog, but it wasn't. Sure it was our Molly, but it is like when you meet a friend in a completely different setting or situation - a bright light with a familiar ambiance, let's say.

Brilliantly observational rom-com!

Very sharp and witty commentary of a single woman who won't settle for `Mr Anybody' ... and believes that, despite her cynical outlook on dating and romance, she deserves `Mr Right'. She'll fiercely fend off any attempts by others to make her settle.

Molly Hacker is not for compromising!

As a reporter for The Swansea Herald, Molly turns down the opportunity to be a press-pass-carrying favour of doing the obituary column. She spurns the attempts of t

I do not often read books from this genre, but MOLLY HACKER IS TOO PICKY is not just another chick lit book. There is a lot of well thought substance to her and her dilemmas. Molly Hacker is hilarious and her situation is one every woman will enjoy and every man should take a gander into the psyche of the woman. Is she too picky, well I’m not exactly sure? She certainly has a lot of dramatic personality traits.

The story is well-written and from within the humor and drama there is a not so subtle

I loved, loved, loved this book! It's hilarious with great, quirky characters. A well developed story with a surprising twist at the end. The author's knowledge of people is evident and it's very easy to feel that you are there with Molly as her story unfolds.

Brodey has a flawless style and a great grasp on character driven stories and this book is a prime example of that.

Molly is the single, spunky, single girl that chick lit aspires to feature but always falls short of. She's razor sharp and I loved experiencing her story along with her and in such a way that makes you feel close enough to be a part of it yourself.

Molly Hacker is a delightful and unexpected main character. For too long have the women in books been whiny, out of touch, unintelligent and dull. Molly Hacker brings wit, humor, and independence to the world of love. Molly has been around the block of love before and refuses to settle for anything but her rightful ONE. But, little did Molly know that three eligible bachelors would be vying for her attention! While Molly juggles the wet-rag, preppy Allen (who could very well be set up by Molly's ...more

Molly Hacker Is Too Picky is a wonderful novel about relationships that is entertaining, intelligent, funny and full of surprises.

In the first few pages, I was catapulted back in time when, like Molly, I was the guest at a wedding hiding out from relatives waiting to pounce with their relentless “when are ya gonna get married?” mantra. The author clearly has her finger on the pulse of single women living in a married world, and, in Molly, created a character who is smart, funny, quirky and extre
In Molly Hacker Is Too Picky!, there are vibrant qualities that rival any chiklit bestseller novel – in particular, the skillful development of both a clever, invigorating storyline and a slew of entertaining characters whose interactions are memorably poignant, quirky and engaging.

Molly Hacker is an entertaining read! The characters are clever, funny and immediately likable. I loved going on the journey with Molly as she went in search of her soul mate. Her inner dialogue had me chuckling out loud and relating to her plight. This book is more than just giggles though, there’s plenty of drama and heartache to go along with the fun stuff. I couldn’t put the book down I got so wrapped up in the story! I suggest this to anyone who loves good storytelling, romance, and drama!

I finished Molly's story last night and I'm still smiling. I truly enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. Conflict of some sort on almost every page but the author keenly injected humor along with the troubles she entrenched Molly in. I laughed out loud many times. It was an okay book. Some parts were funny, others were serious, more were emotional for her and her friends but it did not affect me like it should have. The characters are well defined. I had a hard time finishing the book because for a 32 y.o. woman and a reporter on top of that she should be able to make up her mind. She lies a lot or lies by omission which is the same. The author ends the book abruptly then someone else takes over but it's not the same at all. I actually did not like the tw ...more

Lisette Brodey has written another book destined to be a best seller for years. Molly Hacker Is Too Picky! is one of the best romantic comedy that I have read. Lisette Brodey is masterful in her ability to create characters so human and full of depth, you begin to believe they're real people. Her character Molly Hacker is a dichotomy of wit and humanity.
