I really enjoyed this short novella/story. It was great fantasy and a cool ghost story. The Characters are believable and enjoyable. I would probably pledge myself too. I loved loved loved this story. I can not wait to read more by this author. The spirit of this story is amazing. I could reread this over and over.
Allegiance to a Dead Man is a fun novelette about a modern woman who finds herself in a position to save someone who's already dead and (maybe) the whole city of San Francisco. There's a touch of the The Crow's morbidity and a touch of Terry Pratchett's Discworld policy on magic (especially books like Hogfather). The spirits keep the memories alive and remembering keeps the spirits alive. It's part urban legend and part sweet remembrance story.
