Your Life Has Just Begun, Again...

3.5 stars. Finn doesn't fit the "reaper" stereotype. This former WWII fighter pilot turned undead escort is just another guy stuck in the inbetween. It's too bad the love of his life has been reincarnated back into the world of the living and she seems to be unable to avoid nearly missing death over and over. I guess that's what happens when ....CRAP... I can't say anything else or it will be a massive spoiler!

Wow! What a pleasant surprise and huge shocker considering I've never thought to pick up a book about reapers. So glad I was invited on this blog tour because I truly enjoyed Inbetween by Tara Fuller.

Wow! What a pleasant surprise and huge shocker considering I've never thought to pick up a book about reapers. So glad I was invited on this blog tour because I truly enjoyed Inbetween by Tara Fuller.

Never have I thought I'd fall this hard for a reaper. I mean how can you drool or squee over a guy that wields a scythe and transports souls to their next destination point? What's intriguing about that? HA! Well, leave it to Tara Fuller to create a unique cast of characters and a well paced storyline that had me hooked from the prologue all the way to the last page. I mean, I was so engrossed in the story that when I stumbled from one sentence to the "Acknowledgements"... I was like NOOOOO!! Not because there was a painful cliffy, don't get me wrong I want more, but I was really drawn into Fuller's storytelling. Well done!

So let me tell you a little bit about this book. Inbetween introduces us to four reapers - Scout, Easton, Anaya and Finn. Their job is to transport fallen souls to their next stopping ground which can be Heaven, Hell or somewhere Inbetween. For the last two years, Finn has gone against the rules of his role and risked his existence to protect a girl's soul from an evil reaper named Maeve. See these three souls all met once before where Finn made a decision that determined Emma's fate and earned her an enemy from the Inbetween. So when Maeve exacts her revenge on Finn through Emma, he and his band of reapers combine forces to set things right.

Overall, I loved how Fuller paced her novel. There were so many layers to this story that she developed and executed with precision. It never felt rushed, but when secrets were revealed and actions were set in motion, it was like being glued to a movie where I was left sitting at the edge of my seat.

Also, I have to give credit where credit is due. Tara Fuller might incorporate the concepts of Heaven, Hell and the Inbetween, but there's nothing religious or philosophical about her setting. In fact, it's merely that - a place to execute her plot. No hidden agendas or personal opinions - just straight up storytelling with her own unique element of awesome.

I can't wait to read her next book where we hopefully get to see what happens with Cash as he recovers from his own encounter with the reapers. He surely wasn't left unscathed and I'm eager to see how it all plays out.

So, if you're looking for something different coupled with a layer of splendid, give Inbetween by Tara Fuller a try. You won't regret it.

Words cannot describe how much I love this love story about life (or the after life) after death... For me, INBETWEEN by Tara Fuller compares to the novels for What Dreams May Come or Wings of Desire/City of Angels... for teens.

I got so sucked into this book and didn't want to let go. I haven't read many reaper stories but this one to me was by far the best. I loved the telling of this story and the fact that it was basically teens dealing with this situation. I loved that this story was told through both Emma and Finn;'s points of view. It was great seeing things from both sides.

We start this book out by meeting Finn who is in the process of saving Emma's life because she reminds him of someone. We learn that Finn is a reaper and he should have let Emma die. Finn's love for Emma causes him to let her live and he spends his time from there trying to keep her safe. Finn was so swoon worthy and I am totally in love. He was just so caring and yet so powerful. He made sure that Emma was taken care of at all costs even when it put himself at risk. The love that he had for Emma was off the charts amazing.

Emma was a tough character. I loved that she was willing to fit through her issues and not just chalk up her accidents to chance. She realized something wasn't right and wasn't ok with just being pigeonholed into being crazy. I loved to see her and Cash together as he was a great friend. He really made her feel ok about herself. Cash was another character in himself and so like able. He was so witty and adorable. There were a lot of really good supporting characters in this book like Anaya and Easton. It is very rare that I love the supporting characters as much as the leading ones but the author's writing made me love them all equally.

The story progresses and Emma and Finn fall in love and learn to interact with each other even more. I loved seeing them together. Their love seemed so geniune and pure. I loved the risks they were willing to take to stand up against the challenges they had against them. The choices that they put into place leads to some pretty unexpected consequences though and I am anxious to see how they will handle them all. Overall I loved this book and am saying bravo to the author for writing such a phenomenal piece of work. I loved this book and can't wait to see what else will happen with Emma and Finn. I mean in all honesty all I really need is more Finn in my life like now. I will definitely be grabbing the next book in this series when it comes out. I highly recommend this book to readers that want a great plot with some amazing characters and a great romance mixed in. You will not be disappointed with this book.

This book just makes me want to say AWWWWWWWW! I mean, there's some action, there's some paranormal stuff going on, but basically I love Finn and Emma. It's so hard for them, so you really want to root for them! This was the ARC so it needs some editing, but I really enjoyed this story more than I thought I would! At first, I wasn't going to even read this book. Reapers? I wasn't so sure. But when I got a chance to read the e-ARC, I jumped at the chance.

I'm not usually into reaper boy-human girl story. I remember reading some but not many. I don’t really have problem with them but I wasn’t really that inclined to pick them up. Still, when I saw the blurb of Inbetween there something about it that had me hooked. I was intrigued and interested and very curious to find out the story of Finn and Emma. So I was really glad when I was able to join a blog tour for this book and got a review copy of it.

Still, when I saw the blurb of Inbetween there something about it that had me hooked. I was intrigued and interested and very curious to find out the story of Finn and Emma. So I was really glad when I was able to join a blog tour for this book and got a review copy of it.

The plot line of this book kinda reminded me of some angel books like Fallen and Daughter of Smoke and Bone. The girl being reincarnated as a human who doesn't remember anything from her past life and the guy who knows and remembers everything but torn and guilty from moving back to the girl's new life. Although it wasn't very original I think it still delivered some quite unique stuffs that I find enjoyable and amusing.

Finn was an endearing and interesting character. His guilt and sadness about the things that he did in the past and his love for Emma was so heartbreaking and touching that I wanted to comfort him and hug him. Emma although likable I did find a bit dull. I would love for her to developed more personality, something that would make her character more striking.

The story of Finn and Emma was a very sweet and heartbreaking one. I was curious and intrigued as to why Finn can't go near and reveal himself to Emma and why he feels guilty and responsible for her. I wanted to learn what had really happened in the past. And when I finally learned it I was sad and sympathetic for the two.

However, I think I wasn't completely that invested in their love story. There were moments that I get so fond of it then moments that I just don't quite care. In a story, I love seeing two characters fall in love, how it developed and grew. But in this book, having that part happened in the past, I wasn't able to see more of it. The author did provide flash backs that showed how the two met, moments between them and how the conflict came but I think it wasn't really that enough for me to completely connect and invest in their romance.

The secondary characters were my favorite! Especially Cash (!!!), Anaya, Easton and even Scout. I love that they did make an impression in me and didn't just fade into the background.

Despite all the slight issues I was still satisfied and happy with how things turned out. The ending, I think, was a bit too nice. But it was a happy ending so I guess I should be happy about it. lol! The overall I enjoyed and I do still think that this is a nice and decent read, although not mind blowing but absolutely lovely.

/Inbetween is such a nice story. I read it what felt like one quick sitting. It just flew by. It was such a nice love story and the world of the reapers and the inbetween was really cool!

Yes people, this happened. Inbetween did an AMAZING job of holding my attention and keeping me awake and I was sad when I had to put it down!

When I first read the description for the book, I had a feeling I might like it but I didn’t realise just how much I would ADORE it and now it’s right up there with the other books-I-loved-like-woah which are - Anew (by Chelsea Fine), Larkstorm (by Dawn Rae Miller) and Beautiful Disaster (by Jamie McGuire) with how I feel about it. The book is actually a little close to a story I’ve been working on for years (maybe that’s why I like it so much) but thankfully, there are enough differences to separate the stories. There are no reapers in my book!

One of the things I liked most about Inbetween was the fact that whilst it was generally about the afterlife, refreshingly, there were no angels and demons as this story was all about reapers. We find out that there are three different kinds of reapers who collect souls and send them on their way – a reaper for heaven, a reaper for hell and a reaper for the “inbetween”. Our main protagonist Finn is a reaper who just so happens to be in love with one of the living. He’s made it his mission to protect her at any cost but it’s interfering with his job and when the boss finds out he’s tampering with things he has no business tampering with, there’s going to be trouble. But can Finn let go of the girl he loves?

I have to say that I absolutely adored Finn and had a lot of fun picturing Zac Effron (like he was in Charlie St. Cloud, before he bulked up) in the role. He was swoonworthy and a half but what makes him so appealing is his personality (the guy doesn’t have a body after all) but he would literally go to hell to protect Emma.

Our other protagonist, Emma AKA the clueless object of Finn’s affection, keeps having “accidents” that basically nearly kill her but she keeps escaping unharmed, thanks to Finn, only she’s never met him and doesn’t know he’s there...until now.

I loved ALL the characters in the book and I have to give a quick shout out for Scout as I LOVED the scene in his uncle’s garage which had me giggling. Out of all of them though, I especially had a soft spot for Cash who felt so damn real. I loved his sexy, snarky self although I often wondered if there was more or potentially more between him and Emma and if not, why not?! Was it because they’d grown up together and felt more like brother and sister? Cash did say at one point that if he “went there” with Emma, he’d ruin their relationship and he definitely didn’t want to do that so maybe that’s why. I did love the hints at a possible relationship between him and Anaya and I believe this may be explored in the sequel entitled Blurred, which will be written in dual perspective again but from Cash and Anaya’s point of view this time (Cash gets his own book!)

Inbetween was a fabulous story with great primary and secondary characters. I was a little frustrated (only because of how much I love the story) to find several spelling mistakes towards the end of the book and I even found a small continuity error but thankfully, it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the book. I’m really glad I ended up buying a finished copy (rather than an eBook) and I cannot wait to read the sequel which will be out next summer. I’ve just downloaded Tara’s other book, Perigee Moon onto my kindle as I think I’m her newest fan and proud to be so.(less)

When I first read the synopsis for Inbetween months before its release, I immediately added it to my to-read list. To put it simply, it sounded like exactly my type of book. I waited impatiently and as I waited my expectations grew. Inbetween was exactly what I expected it to be; a great paranormal romance that will make readers weak in the knees and keep them on the edge of their seats.

In my opinion, the best thing about Inbetween is simply the characters. Each and every one of them is great in their own way. From our hero Finn to the villain Maeve, they all have something intriguing about them. It is probably best I start with Finn, since he is our hero and love interest. Finn is probably one of the sweetest characters I have ever encountered. He is charming, devoted, protective, determined, and willing to go to extraordinary lengths for Emma. Speaking of Emma, she is a very likable character. She is thrust into a supernatural world, and does her very best to keep up with it, even resorting to some ridiculous/desperate solutions. She may not be strong in the “I can kick your butt” sense, but she is definitely a survivor and a strong one at that. Now, on to my favorite character Cash. Cash is Emma’s best friend and he is a good one at that. He is funny, sarcastic, witty, and loyal. He is Emma’s rock, whether she realizes it or not. He was my favorite for all of these reasons and it is clear that there is much more to his story.

The romance in this book will not disappoint you! It is the ultimate forbidden romance that comes with numerous consequences and asks the question: can love defy the odds? Well, I’m not going to tell if it can or not, you will just have to read this fabulous book and find out for yourself. I will say that the romance will make you sigh and swoon and wish for your own personal Finn. There is nothing better than a good romance, and when it is forbidden it is even better.

Tara Fuller manages to grab the reader’s attention from the get go and she keeps it until the very end. She does this by switching up the perspectives as the book progresses. She allows the reader to get inside both Finn and Emma’s head. I always enjoy when a story switches perspectives, because it allows the reader to see exactly what is going on inside the character’s heads. I knew exactly how both Finn and Emma felt and was able to therefore understand their motivations better. Also, by switching from Finn to Emma, the reader is not stuck inside one characters bubble and is able to see events going on outside of one characters path.

Overall, Inbetween is a book that pararomance fans need to read. It is everything you want in a paranormal romance. It is sweet, gripping, fast paced, and packed with wonderful characters. Pararomance fans will not be disappointed with Inbetween; it is everything you want and more.

OMG.....The book has just blown me away. I have never been through such an emotional journey before and trust me I doubt I will ever do. Reaper Finn was not supposed to save Emma from the car accident that took her father’s life three years ago, but Emma outlived the fate. She has been living in trauma of the accident, with scars and memories invading her dreams. Now her life is in danger again, and Finn will protect her again, from evil he has accidently unleashed.

The story might seem simple but it is not. The characters seem to leap out of pages and turn into life. They feel so tormenting and comforting in equal amount. I have previously read few Reaper boy-human girl love story but this is very unlikely beautiful and heart rending. The author has shown us an existence of trance place called “inbetween”, somewhere in between heaven and hell, the world building was lovely and very unique.

Emma was broken and living with fragments of her memory from another life, where she was Alison, the girl Finn loved. Emma thinks all her memories are just her insane imagination which is truing her into some crazy person. She is soft and delicate, where Finn is emotionally broken too but head strong and yes….damn romantic. My heart seems to pound against my rib cage every time I saw his name mentioned in pages. He is that swoon worthy, and it’s not a secret I have a thing for green eyed guys.

Cas is the most enlighten as well as concerning character of the book. He stole my attentions every now and then with his charming personality, Sorry Finn..you got a competition.

The narration splits between both Finn and Emma, so we get to know the story from both of their perspective and I was completely found myself attached with their pain, love and emotions. Inbetween was one of my most favorite read of the year. I really really do want to get my hands on the second book.

I could hardly put Inbetween down! It was breath taking! The reapers’ world was so full of intrigue and the plot of a soul’s revenge was captivating. One step into this novel’s pages, and I was hooked.

Inbetween is set in our world but also in a location parallel to our world, aptly named the Inbetween, as it is that gray area between Heaven and Hell. It is the place where souls are sent if they haven't quite earned their spot in Heaven or Hell, though if they are truly exceptional souls, they may be given the opportunity to return to the land of the living to really prove their worth.

This novel is told as a dual narrative, from the perspectives of Emma and Finn. They may not have known each other in this lifetime, but each feels a deep connection to the other after a chance encounter that leaves Emma without her father and reminds Finn of a painful loss he suffered some fifteen years earlier. As a reaper, Finn takes some serious risks to ensure Emma's safety once he realizes who she is. And Emma is in danger quite often, which leads to a lot of trouble for Finn, since he's not supposed to interfere in human affairs or "go corporeal" because his boss can sense it and will require a full report.

Emma is a sneaky little minx, digging deep to discover things about Finn that he won't divulge himself. Yet, she never quite figured out what I had deduced nearly from the onset of the novel. I'm not going to sugar-coat it…this novel was a tad predictable, but that only kept the first half of the novel from being as enjoyable as it could have been. Once the action -- aka attempts on Emma's life -- really got going, the book became a bit more suspenseful and engaging.

The romance was sweet and cuddly but in the way a sad puppy at the pound is because there can't be a future for these two. Emma is of the living, and well, Finn is most definitely not. He's a reaper, meant not to develop feelings for a human but instead to send them on to the Inbetween to await their fates. But he can't help himself. His reaper friends -- Easton of Hell's domain and Anaya of Heaven's -- both try to convince him his intentions are fool-hardy, that he's wasting his time and causing trouble for all of them, but he's a lost cause. He'd try anything, do anything to be with Emma. I kind of have to wonder if this guy has ANY scruples after some of the things he's done for her or even contemplated so that he can be close to her.

Although this book is focused on the reapers and a rather forbidden romance, it has a little bit of everything in there, just to keep you on your toes: possible body-snatching, Ouija boards, psychotic ghosts, overbearing mothers…you name it. Oh, and a hot, if somewhat pervy, best friend who remains strictly in Emma's friend zone. So, no love triangle…well, not in the most literal sense, anyway, so yay! Wait, wait, wait. I just remembered there's no cliffhanger either -- though I did feel that the ending was a little too perfect, a little too easy. I guess this novel doesn't have everything then, but in this case, that's not a bad thing. All in all, Inbetween is a great start to a new series that I definitely plan to continue.

I really liked this book. It was a fun read. I normally don't read books about afterlife and death because they always seem to go to much into religion, but this book managed to surprise me. Gosh, I absolutely loved this book. In the beginning I had to get into the world of reapers a little bit (jup first reapers book for me), but throughout the whole book things about Finn's world are explained so that makes it a lot easier.

Here's the thing about Inbetween by Tara Fuller, I didn't dislike it, but I didn't really love it either. I finished the book feeling pretty indifferent about the entirety of the book, not becoming emotionally attached or invested to the characters or the story at all.

I struggled with this book. There some things that I really loved about it but some things that just couldn't hold my attention. Emma doesn't know what to think about all of the accidents happening around her lately or the fact that every night when she dreams, she hears voices, and remembers things that she's never done. While attempting to figure out all of the strange things going on around her, she pretends to be normal so her mom will not send her back to the mental instution.

Finn's reaper friends are pretty awesome. Each of his friends know that Finn shouldn't follow Emma around and put off his reaper duties, but any time Finn asks for a favor they are always willing to help. Even if it's not always in Finn's best interest, it's what he wanted. Those are some pretty great friends to have. Easton is a reaper for hell, he is pretty emotionless. He believes that everyone makes their beds, so they can lie in them. Despite that belief, he really does not want to see Finn get into more trouble than he already is. Or end up in hell where, he knows exactly how horrible it is, even for just a quick visit to drop off souls. I really like Easton, he's one of those dark characters that just draw me in for some reason. Anaya is a reaper for Heaven and while she tells Finn it's a bad idea to get close to Emma and silently follow her around, she silently watches Cash. It's kind of like Anaya and Easton are Finn's own walking and talking conscious.

Cash is Emma's best friend who doesn't appear to be as damaged as he really is. He is Emma's opposite and their friendship really works. Even if Emma won't tell Cash what's truly going on with her. He's willing to do just about anything for her, even if Emma may seem crazy.

Inbetween is a fresh breath of creativity amongst the vast amount of paranormal books. The romance is torturous (but so good) where Finn can't touch Emma without breaking the rules and your'e just dying for him to break those rules. Ms. Fuller seriously knows how to write Heaven, Hell, and everything Inbetween. (less)

This story closely follows the tale of a reaper named Finn. He’s a former WWII pilot who lost his life in combat and then finds himself sentenced to be a personal escort for the souls destined to land in the Inbetween instead of securing himself a spot in Hell for the murders he committed in the war. The Inbetween is a grey realm where souls go to await their sentence– Heaven, Hell, the Shadow Lands, or reincarnation– when they were too young to have matured into the person they were supposed to be. Once upon a time, Finn was sent to collect a soul, Allison, and upon dropping her off at the gates of the Inbetween, she made a simple request for him to come back to see her. Even though there are strict rules about Reapers having a relationship with humans/souls, over time, Finn can’t help but finding himself falling for her, and this ends up dooming Allison’s soul. With a ten year shelf life in the Inbetween, Finn watches Allison become a dreaded Shadow and finding himself out of options, he does the unthinkable. He pushes her through the portal and allows her soul to be reincarnated in the place of another soul, Maeve, and this sets in motion a chain of events that makes for an interesting story.

Fifteen years goes by and Finn has only the hope that Allison is out there existing among the living, but he holds on to the love that he has for her. It’s only when he’s called to a wreck, where he finds a father and his daughter, Emma, that his world comes to a grinding halt and his hope quickly evaporates. What are the chances that Emma is Allison’s soul reincarnated and that he’s been sent to collect her soul for a second time? It seems impossible, but that’s the case; however, he’s not letting her die without a fight. He may save her this time, but the bitter, angry Maeve has been waiting all this time, and now that Finn’s lead her directly to the body that was suppose to be her second chance at life, she’s going to do everything in her power to get back the life that she feels was rightfully hers all those years ago.

Never having read a reaper story prior to this, I jumped at the chance to get to preview of this title. The premise seemed like something that had a lot of imagination, so I was excited to get to read it. The beginning started off a bit slow for me, but eventually picked up towards the end, and I actually think I may have ended up liking the book because of this. The biggest problem was that I found the romance to be a bit lackluster, if not predictable in the aspect of “the crazy relationship with all these obstacles so it’ll never work, but somehow it does,’ yet it was good enough to keep me reading. The main characters, Finn and Emma, were only marginally developed and I felt like they could have been interchangeable with any story. There wasn’t anything that really stood out to me about them, and I found it rather difficult to connect to their characters. In fact, it was the secondary characters- Heaven reaper, Anaya; Hell reaper, Easton; a Emma’s best friend, Cash- that stole the spotlight in every scene they were featured in, and I felt a greater pull to their circumstances and story-lines.

I will say that I enjoyed Fuller’s creative versions of Heaven, Hell, and the Inbetween. I could easily picture the worlds she described, and oddly enough, found myself drawn to these aspects of the story. Had she wrote more about Finn’s and Allison’s time in the Inbetween, I think I would have enjoyed the book a bit more. It was a greater tragic, heartfelt love story and the brief glimpses we were given of the time Finn and Allison shared together there that seemed to be where I connected to them and pulled for their love the most.

All this being said, I will say that I think I’m in the minority with my opinion and shelf-rating. Inbetween gets raving reviews on Goodreads, and perhaps this just isn’t the story for me. I didn’t necessarily dislike it, but I wasn’t in a hurry to finish it either.

I really liked Inbetween! The story itself, was pretty nice. I enjoyed reading about the different characters, especially Finn and Emma. They both in ways, are different, and reading from both of their POVs was really great and I think necessary because it's both of their story. The girl, Allison, whom Finn has loved for years is not with him anymore, because now she is living as... It might sound creepish but I think it's sweet, because he, Finn, a reaper, has finally found his love, and some way or another, he is going to try to somehow communicate with her.

Now, Emma, has no idea at first who this cute guy with green eyes, who has saved her twice, is. When they actually really get to know each other, she tries to understand Finn, and what he is saying; that he's only a soul, and is not alive. Poor Emma; I felt for her at times, because of the trauma she faced when she lost her father; she even had to go to a mental institution for a few months, what that's just pretty hard. Aww well at least she has a good friend, Cash, who is really like a brother to her, and is her next door neighbor. Cash is definitely a great character, that I loved reading!

Anyways, as the story goes, there are perfect amounts of flashbacks, when Emma was well Allison, and I understand some of the decisions that Finn made that made Allison, Emma. Their romance was nice and sweet and there was definitely some tension there, oh yes! There was of of course a good dose of conflict, so what out for someone who intends on killing Emma! Lastly, what I really liked was the ending; I really just loved it. Something extraordinary happens, something that from the beginning you might wish happen, but it probably won't but when it actually does happen, wow! Emma is a simple and funny girl who enjoys photography and who has absolutely no interest in boys. But since her father's death she spends most of her time escaping near miss death experiences, and rationalising that she is most definitely not seeing a very cute green eyed boy, who is sparkly round the edges and who disappears in the blink of an eye.

Finn is a world war II soul recycled as an inbetween reaper, who has to convince and restrain himself, protecting Emma from a safe distance and in an invisible state. Because breaking all the rules to even only allow himself to be seen, let alone touch her would award him a direct and speedy ticket to hell, leaving no-one to protect her against an uncontrollable evil soul.

However the bond these two share is too strong. It has challenged life, death and the inbetween, and Finn will risk everything he is and his soul if it means he can protect her and be in his personal paradise. Feeling one more touch, one more breath from the sole purpose of his existence are worth eternal torture.

Tara Fuller approached this very sweet paranormal romance in a somewhat unusual way, focusing on where such an impossible relationship could possibly go as opposed to its construction, as the premises was that the bond was already present. What's more, it was written in alternate chapters from Finn's and Emma's point of view, therefore allowing for a more complete picture of their feelings, thoughts and concerns. I particularly enjoyed this as most paranormal romance books do not often allow regular insight into the feelings of the young hero as he falls, protects, loves and saves the girl that has become the centre of his universe.

In this well written and ever so sweet novel Tara Fuller spoke of a love that went beyond, life, the afterlife and perhaps even reincarnation. It was a very much enjoyed read for a soppy romantic, like myself, and I look forward to reading more.
