a good book that may be compared to Al Fitna Al Kobra by Dr. Taha Hussein. What makes it distinct is its balance between Sunni and Shiite sources. The author is realistic in emphasizing that we cannot reach a certainty if a statement by any of the protagonists was actually said or if it represents how people 200 years after these events saw what happened during this tragic period. The book is however brief and skips important issues such as the Riddance Wars completely.
