Of all the men in this series, Gray Donohue was the last one I was expecting to find so... so... wildly-freaking-awesome! My knees give up a little (too much) just thinking about this hot fighter who's not hot just because of his handsome presence, but for being such a strong believer of the equality of the species, too. ETERNAL BEAST is the fourth novel (August 2012 release) in Laura Wright’s Mark of the Vampire series and, Gray and Dillon’s story. Gray Donohue is the current leader of the Impure Resistance-originally founded by his father Jeremy, Gray and his band of warriors (Rio, Vincent and Piper) pool their resources and powers to rescue the Impures held in the Paleo by The Order. The Order is the powerful and self-appointed judge, jury and executioner of everything vampire related. Only now, Gray’s connections to the Resistance are known by the Order and a plan to secure his whereabouts will be aided by someone close enough to call family. But a warning of intent will come from a very unlikely source.

As a pureblood veana, Dillon has never had to worry about The Order, but now that her ‘alter ego’ has been revealed, Dillon is no longer safe. Hunted like a wild animal, Dillon discovers that the man she once called father, is pure evil. And the lies that she and her brothers have been told, only served to add fuel to their need for revenge.

The relationship between Gray and Dillon has been disconcerting throughout the series. There is an obvious attraction between the pair, but more so on the side of Gray. But in Eternal Beast, Dillon reaches a ‘maturity’ of sorts and needs her mate to help sustain her humanity. Without a True-Mate, Dillon’s circumstances will change and what is uncovered was never revealed but kept secret by the man who is more like Dillon than anyone could have imagined.

The mutores (Vampire Shape-shifters) figure prominently in Eternal Beast, as they aid the Roman brothers with their attempts to locate and secure a run-away Cruen. But it will be the relationship between mutore and vampire that will force everyone to look at one another differently from now on. But it will be Erion’s relationship with Ladd that sparks the next instalment in the Mark of the Vampire series-ETERNAL DEMON- set for release in May 2013.

Eighty two pages in - OMG! So laughing over the scene between Lucian - the lovable a@$hole - and the mutore! Oh man the entire interaction had me cracking a smile!

Luca and Phane! Oh man it seems Luca found the ideal peeps to sharpen his verbal taunts on! And the mutore takes them with ease.

And it's grate to see Nicholas with Kate, Alexander with Sara, and Lucian with Bronwyn - along with their little baby girl! And the way Lucian took to fatherhood. Awww moment!!

I had high hopes for this book. The romance between Gray and Dillon has been teasing me for ages. Both main characters have a great tortured history, so I expected angst, passion, and a whopping dose of sexual tension. What I got was... a bit of disappointment.

As the story begins, Dillon is stuck in her beast form of a jaguar. She thinks the only way she will be able to return to her vampire form is to kill the senator behind the beating that prompted her change. Instead, Gray ends up killing him and she is furious. The thing is, though, she quickly discovers another way to alter her form... with Gray's touch. She reaches out to him to help her, and for me, this is where the story went downhill.

I understand that Dillon has been the one to shut Gray down in the past, but that did not excuse the way he lorded his control over her. He tried to force her to be submissive to him in order for him to give her what she needed. It was unsettling to see this woman with a history of abuse have to kowtow to a man who supposedly has feelings for her. Why? Because he is trying to get even? Make a point? Granted, he didn't know what happened to her, but he had an idea. And when he pulled out a leash and collar, I was ready to throw rotten tomatoes at him.

Not that Dillon was much better. Even knowing about her baggage, she was difficult to like. She was single-mindedly focused on herself, just like Gray was obsessed with his mission to save the Impures. Neither seemed remotely capable of making the other a priority. Most of the time, they weren't even nice to each other. Basically, I found that didn't like either one of them, which made it really hard to root for their romance.

On top of that, the sex scenes didn't do it for me. Gray's attempts at talking dirty were just over the top and not at all sexy.

"The other fingers are getting lonely, D," he groaned, his voice rabid and raw. "They want to be together. They want to fuck you too. They want inside your silky wet pussy so badly. Can they all come to the party baby?"
...
When all five of his fingers entered her, Gray cursed. "The way your cunt took me in, inch by inch of drenched heat. Fuck and the way it's suckling my fingers."
...
"God baby, you're so beautiful. So wet, so tight. The way your pussy sucks me in." He cursed, moaned. "Oh shit. I knew you would feel like this. The perfect fit, your candy walls fisting around me."

I think you get the idea. If a guy talked to me like that in bed... ok, never mind. Suffice it to say, this did not do it for me.

I am still interested in the world. Specifically, I am very intrigued by Dillon's brothers. Erion, in particular, was a real scene stealer. The story that served as the backdrop for the romance was pretty cool and I like that series may be turning toward the mutore brothers. I really liked the last book, so between that, and the big cliffhanger epilogue, I will be back for Eternal Demon. This one, however, was a miss for me.

I should note that most of the reviews for this book have been very positive. I know I am in the minority.

Even though I've loved this series from the first book, I was almost afraid to read this one. It seemed like Gray and Dillon wouldn't have much of a romance left to write since their romance has teased us from the first book. I have to admit (gladly) that my fears were unfounded. This book builds beautifully on the first three and brings more in for future stories.

I did not care for either the H or the h in earlier books--or in their novella, but knew that in order to keep up with the larger story, I needed to read this one. I LOVED this book and the others that come in the series! Its rare to find a book that has so much surprises around every corner, always keeping you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what's next. This book is full of drama, suspense, love, humour and super sexy scenes that make you want a Paven or Impure of your own ;)

Laura Wright has written a love story in "Eternal Beast" that will have you mesmerized. If you are into vampires and love stories that embrace the supernatural, this story is for you. This was a was a good book but not as good as the first three. The first books spent more time on the main couple. I didn't feel the connection between Dillon and Gray that I felt in the previous books. It did set things up nicely for the next book, though. In fact I think this was a gateway book for Dillon's muture (beast) brothers to have their own books.

I really wanted to give this 4.5 stars as it was the best one yet and WHAT AN ENDING!! Holy cliffhanger, Batman. Now I gotta wait til may '13?? Oh well, gives me something to look forward to. Loved the Gray/Dillon struggle and action. I am still not happy with certain derogatory words used in a romantic/sensual way (which is the primary reason for the lack of a fifth star). From the first moment Dillon and Gray made their entry in to this series they pulled at my heartstrings. Their turmoil, their life force, their attitude, it all appealed to me. Gray and Dillon have their premise told during the first four books and it contained a promise for their own story. While Eternal Beast can be read on its own, as always, I feel the story will be that much richer if you’ve read the previous entries in this series. Not only for the romance but also for the ongoing plot.

Every time, Laura Wright puts two strong minded characters together the developing feelings go with challenges, fierceness, sharp-edged dialogues and full-blown passion. Gray and Dillon gave all that and more! The source of Dillon’s emotional damage is evil to the core and instantly triggers the desire for revenge. I wanted lots of pain for the villains to match their heinous acts! While Dillon was a victim she got out of it stronger, a warrior woman and I liked her barbed personality. She doesn’t allow people to get close to her but some of them eventually just do. Gray is gruff and has a single-minded focus on leading the Impures to freedom. His attraction to Dillon has been palpable from the moment they met. Even though it seems impossible for them to fall in love it is in each encounter the attraction is like a live wire of fierce emotions connecting them together.

The romance development is spectacular. So are the erotic scenes! The whirlwind of feelings, the slowly earning of trust, the chemistry ablaze with sexual energy, it drew me in and kept me anchored in the story. In Eternal Beast they put it all out there for the reader. Layer by layer got peeled away for me to see inside their hearts and I loved the connection it forged with me. Dillon and Gray have some of the hottest dialogues to draw each other out and to acknowledge what is between them. They both have their journey which made me flip the pages as fast as I could, wondering where it would lead to. Difficult characters such as them don’t “do” instant love. Through all the difficulties in both romance as well as the plot a love is forged so strong, so deep, that when they finally get to that high-stake moment of surrender, it becomes a toe-curling and utterly satisfying moment for the reader. Just the way I like it!

The plot was gradual, but this is something I came to expect from Laura Wright. She builds the tension to a height with explosive action scenes, obstacles to overcome and mystery. Sometimes the suspension subsides in favor of the romance but by the last third of the novel I was riveted. As the reader I knew much, how key characters were involved and what their plans were. However, it was a puzzle to solve how things were to play out, keeping me on the edge of my seat. Again, just the way I like it!

By now, in the fifth story, there is a rich cast of characters with the Roman brothers and their beloved wives, the Mutores, the vampire race and its Order. I’m especially liking the Mutores, shapeshifters whom never meant to be but with larger than life personalities. The taunting banter between them and the Roman brothers made me smile. Egos can clash but at the end of the day, they got each other’s back.

In Eternal Beast there is a riveting plot, steeped with a scorching sexual tension between star-crossed lovers who are guaranteed to capture the heart from the start. Another winner in this series!(less)

The MARK OF THE VAMPIRE world is opened up immensely in this release. There is additional information learned about all facets of the world and its inhabitants and each and every tidbit is titilating and incredible.

For those of you that are up-to-speed on the series, the previous eNovella release, "Eternal Blood", revealed to us that Gray's father was the leader of the Impure Resistance. In Eternal Beast we see Gray with a singleminded purpose and an incredible passion, and not only for his cause!

Dillon is still messed up over the trauma she endured at the end of the last book at the hands of the Senator and just isn't herself. She seeks Grays help as a form of therapy and inevitably, though they fight it every step of the way, they grow even closer.

I can't say much more without ruining things, but I can tell you all this... Dillon and Gray together are UNBELIEVABLE! Smokin' hot, smart, snarky, sexy, sarcastic and just about every other fabulous "S" adjective I can think of. ;-)

There are a lot of new characters introduced in Eternal Beast, as well as additional information on ones that we've met briefly before. It was an incredible installment to the series and there are TONS of directions that Laura could go with things now. I'm SO excited to see what the future holds!

LITERAL ADDICTION gives Eternal Beast a well deserved 5 Skulls. If you haven't experienced this series yet, you are TOTALLY missing out, and you REALLY need to add it to your TBR and find it from your favorite bookseller ASAP! (less)

I was so excited to finally be able to read Eternal Beast. Waited a while and it was worth it. Another amazing story by Ms. Wright. This one was centered around Gray and Dillon.

And what a story it was. Full of so much action, drama, humor and very romantic sizzling scenes. I have to say it was one of my favorites so far.

Reading about Dillon's past helped me understand why she's so closed off and untrusting of everyone. I can totally sympathize with her. What a horrible past. It's amazing she's b...more

I’ve just been drawn to him from being the mysterious brother of Sarah who went through such a tragic event that locked him in his mind and nonspeaking, to his mind being unlocked and discovering and having to deal with being an Impure Vampire to finding out secrets about his own family...more I loooove this series & I love Gray ;)

Eternal Beast is the 4th book in Mark of the Vampire series, and I swear, each book just gets better and better! I have been anxiously awaiting Gray’s book since book 1. I’ve just been drawn to him from being the mysterious brother of Sarah who went through such a tragic event that locked him in his mind and nonspeaking, to his mind being unlocked and discovering and having to deal with being an Impure Vampire to finding out secrets about his own family that has led him to the point where we start off in Eternal Beast.

Grayson Donahue is the leader of the Impure Resistance, as his father was before him. He has been working with a small group of Impure Vampires to rescue other Impures from the authority of The Order. He is very strong minded and focused on his cause and won’t let anything deter him from his mission, even Dillon.

Dillon and Gray always seem to have intense interactions and that doesn’t fade in this book. Dillon has had a traumatic past and she has learned to shut off her feelings and prefers to be closed off and pushes others away. When she finds herself stuck in her mutore form as a jaguar and it seems the only thing to help her make the shift back to vampire is Gray’s touch, she seeks his help but Gray is determined to not be used by her anymore and is determined to try and discover what this attraction is between them. They butt heads a lot and one importantly is Gray’s mission. I loved the struggles these two had to work through and how Gray wouldn’t give up on Dillon no matter how much she tries to run away or push him away.

I loved that we get to see plenty of the other characters that we love and are still involved with them even when some parts of the story isn’t tied directly to Gray or Dillon, it all ties in together very nicely and helps give the story a rounded look at everything going on. We discover a few interesting twists and look forward to those playing out more in future books.

If you are new to this series I would HIGHLY recommend starting from the beginning. Each book builds on to the last and I think that you would miss out on some crucial events and story lines to full appreciate this book… well and can’t forget to mention getting to know these hot, sexy, loveable vampires through each book ;) The Epilogue left off with a great introduction to the next book Eternal Demon, can’t wait to read about Erion!!!

All I can say is WOW!! After I read Eternal Captive, the third book in the MARK OF THE VAMPIRE Series, I thought "it just can't get any better than this"! Then I was extremely lucky and got to read Laura's upcoming release, Eternal Beast very early and Hot Damn!! Laura Wright has done it again and totally blew me away. Then I was extremely lucky and got to read Laura's upcoming release, Eternal Beast very early and Hot Damn!! Laura Wright has done it again and totally blew me away. This book is by far the EPIC book of the series and everything changes in the world of the Purebloods, Impures and Mutores.

In the enovella "Eternal Blood" Gray learned that his father, Jeremy Donohue was the leader of the Impure Resistance. Now Gray has a new purpose in his life. He has become the new Leader of the Impure Resistance and will do anything to save the Impures from being Blood Castrated and controlled by the Order. He's just got one problem….he can't let Dillon go.

Dillon is still recovering from the horrible beating the Senator and his men gave her. She's stuck in her "other" form and cannot shift back. She seeks Grays helping and in doing so they become even closer, which is something that scares the hell out of Dillon. Dillon has to make a choice; let Gray in or push him away forever.

That's all I'm going to say on the storyline. SO much happens and I don't want to give away any more details of the story. I will say this though…..Gray and Dillon are SMOKIN' HOT together!!

We also get to see more of the other members of the Impure Resistance (Rio, Vincent & Piper) and we gets LOTS more of the Mutore in this book. We learn more about the beasts; Lycos, Helo, Phane & Erion. The ending of this book leads into Erion's book, which is coming up next and I am DYING to learn more about him.

If you still have not experienced the awesomeness that is the Mark of the Vampire Series you are truly missing out. Every book is phenomenal and they just get better and better. I look forward to every release. Laura Wright has created an original and extraordinary world and I am her fan girl for life!!

LOVE my Roman brothers, but Gray and Dillon's story was a fabulous read and a great addition to the series.

I loved the main couple's back-and-forth, it was a bit like a cat and mouse game between them. Interesting and heart-wrenching at times to read. Written with Wright's sexy flare and style, along with enough action sprinkled throughout to keep you on the edge. All that could mean I'm totally biased when I say this but... ETERNAL BEAST is the best in the series! Laura Wright did my two favorite characters justice and gave them an awesome story. Their relationship has been building for a while now and it's already gone through some ups and downs. Gray has had a puppy dog love and attraction forever, Dillon has a hard shell to crack. But not once do they give up on each other (well at least not completely) and they just didn't fight what was obviously between them.

At the end of Eternal Captive we discovered a few things, one of them was that Dillon is a mutore. She's still a pureblood veana but she's also a jaguar. When she finds herself almost feral and not able to shift back to human after traumatic events, she finds out that only Gray's touch can help her shift. She asks, he gives. He doesn't have to ask, she volunteers. Aside from what Dillon is I find the new set of characters in this book to be very interesting and I'd love to see more of each one of them. After all they are family.

I love when a kick ass heroine shows a softer side and that's where Dillon is at in this book. But she's still funny, flirty and lethal. And then there's Gray *cue swooning*. That impure is amazing! He fights to free his own people, risking even his life for his cause. He would do whatever is necessary to keep his female at his side. But he shows Dillon he cares in more ways than just the physical. And together, well they are perfect!

While this book was heavy on the romance it still managed to tell such a complete story. And it had me laughing more than once! New developments in the overall story. Someone is pregnant, someone's mom comes to visit, the Order is causing havoc, more rescuing is needed at the Paleo. We get to see others points of view, some of those I just can't wait to read more about.

I did myself a favor this time around and didn't read the teaser at the end for ETERNAL DEMON. But I can't wait for it! Now, I'm running to lock Gray in my harem of claimed men.

Each of her books may focus on a different couple, but all the characters are involved in the plot in some way and the overall story arc has had a continuous flow from book one and takes the books to a whole other level.

Dillon and Gray have been the couple I have been waiting for. I was not sure it was ever going to happen though because Dillon is so stubborn! She has had a very difficult past though, and has been burned so many times that she has spent her life shutting down her emotions. She does not want to feel anything because if she doesn’t then no one can hurt her. She also has the Order searching for her because of her status as a mutore, which is a pureblood vampire shape-shifter. They are considered the lowest form of life and are often killed after birth. Not exactly something that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside if you happen to be one.

Gray on the other hand does not want to tame his feelings. He is loyal, passionate and fights for what he believes in. He knows he can help Dillon deal with what she is going through, but she never lets him get close enough to try. He wants to help her so badly, but her constant rejection is turning him cold and he is not sure how much longer he can wait for her to trust him.

Watching these two struggle with trying to be strong on their own but be together was tough. They did not have many obstacles in their way except internal ones. Both of them did not know if they could truly trust the other and it was hard for them to work through that barrier. It took time, but they slowly started opening up to one another and towards the end they experienced some truly heart wrenching moments together. They also shared quite a few explosive scenes together. One in particular took place in a cave. ;) That Gray was one dirty talker and I am not sure why it surprised me, but it was definitely a good surprise.

The action, as it always is in Laura’s books, was constant and very intense. I cannot say too much without spoilers, but I will say that someone is pregnant, someone’s mom comes to visit, we get to see a lot of rescues from the Paleo and the Order is reaping all sorts of havoc on the vampire community. All of these things and more come together to make one astonishing story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

I loved getting to know all of Dillon’s brothers in this book as well. They are mutore too and could shift into some pretty cool things. Laura has always been good at giving each character a distinct and unique voice when it comes to the Roman brothers and that carries over into Dillon’s brothers as well. There were points when they were talking at the same time, but I could still pick out which brother it was speaking.

Holy cow the ending of this book was awesome! Actually it was the epilogue that really got me excited. It is not a cliffhanger, but it sets up the next book perfectly. I am not going to say who it is about and ruin the fun for you, but I cannot believe I have to wait until next May to find out what is going to happen next!

Overall, Eternal Beast was just flat out amazing! I have a couple authors in the paranormal romance genre that I go to when I want a book that is going to exceed all my expectations and Laura Wright is one of them. Her books have everything, amazing characters, a well-developed story that continues from book to book, scorching hot romance, fantastic action and the aspect that always gets me the most is the genuine emotion you feel when reading about the lives of these characters. I don’t know how to encourage you enough to go check out these books without going into total fan girl mode. They are just that good. So do yourself a favor and read these books. I promise you it will be worth it!

This was a really good books. I put off reading it because I didn't think Gray's story could be half as good as the others because he is an impure vampire, therefore not as powerful or in my case, not as interesting as the pures. (Guess I am guilty of predjudice, too) However, I was very wrong. Gray has his own power and appeal. Dillon, who is a mangy old shifter vampire, is his lifemate and she fights the attraction. All in all, this is a fabulous book.
