Mind-blowing!
Gabe is just so damn cute not too mention hot, loveable, sweet, funny.... Well you get the picture!!
I can't believe what happened to him there at the end!! Pity!
He changed for the best throughut all these books and you watch him get to grips with all of these new emotions and experiences and he ends up fit back to where he was at the beginning!
Wow yeah brilliant ending though-not perfect- but yeah.

Frannie Cavanaugh’s life hasn’t been the same since millennia old demon, Luc walked into her life – she’s since found out that her father’s a fallen angel making her a Nephilim, she discovered that she has the power to Sway demons,angels and humans to do whatever she wants and she fell in love for the first time. Luc was sent by Lucifer to seduce Frannie in order to send her to hell, he failed to follow through with Lucifer’s orders after falling in love with Frannie. Frannie’s powers and love for Luc turned him human and thus powerless to protect her from demons.
Lucifer and his demons are hell-bent on getting Frannie on hell’s side and set out to claim her by any means necessary. Newly human Luc and Frannie’s guardian angel, Gabe try and protect Frannie from Lucifer’s clutches by hiding her in Florida. Unsurprisingly, it’s not very long though before Lucifer and his demons track Frannie down and attempt to manipulate her to their own endgame.
The first half of the book is utterly boring (though the second half’s not much better) – Frannie, Luc and Gabriel just lounge around doing nothing apart from angsting over their love life, complaining about their uselessness, moaning about their lack of power, giving each other mixed signals, having childish nightmares, feeling sorry for themselves and occasionally forming half baked plans to defeat Lucifer and his demons. You’d think that a millennia old demon and an angel would get their priorities straight, they know time is running out and that Lucifer’s closing in on them so you’d think they’d spend all their time dedicated to coming up with a plan but oh no they instead spend most of their time thinking about Frannie and longing for her. It’s just ridiculous, what’s the point of bothering to write about characters being in danger from all of hell and its minions only to have the characters forget about their impending doom and instead have them whinge nonstop about their feelings for each other, the author might as well have written a contemporary novel.
By far the biggest problem I had with this book was the idiocy that is Frannie Cavanaugh. Frannie is a self pitying, dull, pathetic idiot. She blames herself for every little thing. She acts like Luc is an innocent child and blames herself for putting him in the middle of the war between heaven and hell. The girl is stupid, she conveniently forgets that Luc was the one that dragged her into the whole mess, if it wasn’t for him she would never have been in danger in the first place. She doesn’t take into consideration that Luc’s no innocent bystander and that he was in actual fact a millennia old demon who did terrible things and hurt countless people. The idiot even blames herself for him sleeping with someone else – when he only had himself to blame, he was a powerful old demon and lived his years surrounded by demons and other immoral, evil creatures so he should have been able to spot a succubus and be able to see through Lilith’s disguise, but like Frannie he was too stupid to notice anything untoward.
Frannie really has no common sense whatsoever, knowing that demons are after her and that she and the rest of humanity are in danger, she says nothing when she sees her demon brother in her bedroom. The dolt just writes it off as her mind playing tricks on her, it’s utterly absurd she knows that all of hell’s after her and she also knows her brother hates her yet instead of thinking that the demons have found her she just thinks she’s dreaming and imagining things. Her idiocy doesn’t stop there, she keeps important things from Gabe and Luc, things that could put them all in danger - when another demon finds her, does she tell them -hell no, she just foolishly thinks that the demon won’t hurt her even though he’s hurt her in the past. Her stupidity carries on when she doesn’t think to mention that she’s dreaming about a weird angel that she’s inexplicably drawn to or that a demonic necklace keeps appearing on her neck. Any non stupid person would have divulged that tidbit of information to her protectors especially if the legions of hell were hunting them and if they were specifically told that the necklace and dreams could attract the attentions of hell…but the alarm bells don’t seem to go off in Frannie’s head – she just keeps her mouth shut because she thinks that the necklace, the demons and dreams won’t harm her. With demons hunting her, you’d think she’d stay with her protectors but she stupidly runs off with her demon brother without telling Luc or Gabe. She also fails to notice that every time her brother wants her to do something she suddenly feels gut wrenching pain and guilt, again she doesn’t put 2 and 2 together and realize that he’s making her feel that way so he can get her to do whatever he wants. Her idiocy just doesn’t stop, when she stays with her grandfather she notices that he smells like a demon and that he’s acting strangely – again, knowing demons are after her she doesn’t even think to consider that her grandfather could be possessed by a demon instead she just thinks it’s her bloody imagination. My hatred of Frannie increased tenfold when it’s revealed that Frannie’s no ordinary speshul snowflake she’s the speshulest snowflake in all the land…ugh...Frannie was truly sickening. I was further sickened when God assigns Frannie to be the diplomat between heaven and hell…WTF?? How does it make any sense that the dumbest dumbo that ever was, is the intermediary between heaven and hell...No, just no.
The worst thing about Frannie is how she lets Luc treat her like dirt, he talks down to her and is emotionally abuses her for days and then when he deigns to treat her like a human being for all of a minute she’s just oh so grateful that he still wants her. Er hello Frannie...the guy treated like crap and you didn’t even have the dignity and self respect to walk away from him or at the very least demand an apology and warn him never to treat you like dirt again.
Luc is an absolute douche, he does what every effing YA hero does – treat the girl he loves with utter contempt and emotionally abuse her because that’s the only way to protect her. Fair enough, if that’s the only way he feels he can protect, by all means do it, but what does the douche end up doing… he turns around and confuses her by giving her hope that he still has feelings for her. What’s the point of giving mixed signals?? his objective was to make Frannie hate him so he proceeds to show her how little she means to him by acting like a bast**rd but then he spoils his own ‘genius’ plan by later acting like he still has feelings for her - so what was the bloody point of him acting like a bast**rd – it just makes me think that he enjoyed emotionally abusing her. What sort of message does this send out to impressionable young girls, that if a guy demeans them and is cruel, that it’s all ok and forgotten as soon as he shows that he’s mildly interested in them. I think a lot of authors make their love interests jerks and make them act hot and cold because that’s the only way they can make them seem dark, tortured and brooding. A good author can create a swoon-worthy love interest without resorting to cheap measures, just look at Tod in the Soul Screamers series, Terrible in the Downside Ghosts series or Clay and Lucas from the Women of the Otherworld series.
On a different note, Luc's constant use of the words unholy hell bugged me no end, I hate when characters use repetitive phrases.
I abhor Frannie and Luc’s relationship. The relationship seemed largely based on Frannie’s Sway. I honestly don’t think that Luc would be all that interested in Frannie if not for her Sway compelling him to feel things for her. Luc and Frannie have zero chemistry or charm. I couldn’t understand why everyone loved Frannie, she was so blah. I actually wanted Faith to end up with Gabe or Luc, she had more personality and charisma than Frannie. I was disappointed that Gabe thought so little of Faith after she sacrificed herself for him, she deserved a better ending than she got.
I’m relieved the series is finally over, I honestly don’t know why I read the whole trilogy – I didn’t like the storyline, the characters or the weak writing. Admittedly, I sometimes find myself wanting to read a rubbish book, I think it’s a bit like a car crash – I just can’t look away. Thankfully my friend lent me the last 2 books, so I didn’t waste much money on this rubbish. I think there are readers that will enjoy this but since I read a lot of YA, it takes more than a cookie cutter blah heroine, a crappy love triangle and a couple of ‘super hawt’ love interests to impress me. I strongly suspect that the author might write a spin off series about one of Frannie’s sisters. God help us all if she does.

In this whole series, Gabe has been my favorite. I fell in love with him the second he came into the picture, and this book ruined everything, every love (or lust) I had for this character. His relationship with Frannie meant more to me than Luc ever did--and Lisa Desrochers blew this up in my face.

Katie wrote a letter to your author, Lisa Desrochers, after she finished Original Sin, because let’s face it, Katie was in still in shock at the ending.

I decided to write this letter to you because you are no longer the naïve, young girl we met in Personal Demons. Oh no, Frannie, you are mature and apprehensive and fiercely protective of the ones you love. And Mundie Moms have to love that.

When all Hell, literally breaks loose, you hold your own. Okay quick aside, kiddo. Gabe? Gabe? Gabe! I didn’t expect he’d cause me to tear up. I know why you love him – his protection and safety (okay, and hotness) made me understand the sacrifice he made to stay with you. He spells trouble in an entirely different way.

I don’t want to give anything away, but there’s a Really Bad Guy in the story and the way Lisa presented him quickly made him one of my very favorite antagonists. I have a long list, trust me on this, and he remains near the top. He was untrustworthy and seductive and OMHeavens funny. Yes, in the middle of a holy-heck-what-is-going-to-happen-here scene, I found myself giggling out loud. Be sure to tell Lisa that part because her comic timing was pitch-perfect.

Frannie, may I mention your family? You know how much I love them (and particularly, Grandpa) and there’s a lovely back-story that made everything make so much sense. Again, I have to thank Lisa because she revealed pieces of a puzzle in the midst of an action sequence that didn’t let up, and I got to have that amazing feeling of “OOOOOOH, I get it.”

I need to end this before I give up spoilers (I’ve already edited out a few). I only have one question left – who was the better kisser, Luc or Gabe? Oh, never mind, I think a little demon may have whispered the answer in my ear.

(Aside to MMs: If you love angel-demon mythology (and I know you do), go pick up the Personal Demons series. You guys need to meet Luc, Gabe and Frannie. This summer, turn up the air conditioning and enjoy one hell of a ride.)

Great finale for an a very very very very good series!!

Frannie just kicks some major ass and everything works out in the end. Amazingly well written, I couldn´t put it down, this one is seriously a page turner.

If you haven´t read this series, shame on you...you´re missing on a great story, a unique female lead and of course ubber yummy bad and good boys. You can start the Personal Demons roller coaster with Personal Demons and continue with Original Sin and end this thrilling ride with Last Rit ...more

Lisa D. did such an amazing job with the last book in the PD series. I was moved to tears with the agonizing exchanges between Frannie and Luc, and every moment they spent apart was like a waste of a second in hell. There were moments where I just wanted to look the other way when Frannie and Gabe got close; he's my pure angel. :) I didn't want him tainted.

It's definitely. Luc and Gabe definitely make a spectacular love triangle but the cliche-ness of it upset me. There's evil Lucifer Cain (how original) oh and Gabriel, the angel but not angel (also not original) and they both against their rules by falling in love with Frannie, Luc running from, well, Lucifer and Gabe running from himself. Frannie is a desperately aggravating character. I found myself hating her on more than occasion. She's so impulsive and so "Girl Power" that I just couldn't take it sometimes. Gabe is also extremely frustrating. The "Perverted, Dirty Angel." I found myself getting sick of him whining over his obsession with Frannie. I didn't like him at all.

Then there's Luc. This demon-turned-human-turned-demon-turned-human who is tortured and hurt and finds everything he thought didn't exist in Frannie and just falls so deeply in love with her. He couldn't be more perfect, really. As good as he was and as hard as was trying to be what Frannie needed, I felt like he didn't get enough positive attention in this book. I think Frannie and Gabe really just let him have it. I feel like they were unnecessarily cruel, though Frannie claimed to be in love. I hurt for him. I really did. Am I spoiling? I feel like I'm spoiling.

The story line, while upbeat and relative and as good as the other books, also pissed me off, but in a good way. Aaron was a favorite of mine, who you will see later. But I felt like the overall goal of the book was completely insane. I feel like no matter who you are, doing what these amateurs were trying to do is seemingly impossible. I mean, come on. Really. But they gave it their best shot, and the end left me pretty satisfied, after all. Some sad twists and turns, but a decent ending.

Don't take my ranting about the awfulness of the characters as a reason not to read the book. I mean, all characters are frustrating, right? It went well with the other books in the series (if you read those) and that's really all that matters because I loved those. An excellent end to the whole Demons/Angels thing. I really enjoyed it, overall. (less)

A crazy thrill ride for this conclusion to the series. Frannie , Luc, and Gabe are on the run, trying to hide from the demons who are trying to capture her for satan. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to sound like I didn't like this book. It's just Frannie up until the last part of the book was not my favorite of characters. Everyone blamed Luc through the whole book. since he was a demon trying to tag her for hell, and that started the whole thing. I look at it a bit differently. Frannie couldn't keep her sexual urges from going in overdrive not only with Luc, a demon. but Gabe, a angel.I mean most of the book she was trying to get both of them in her bed. Kudos to Luc for becoming good. yes frannie's "Sway" did it but he did want to be good even before. Then there was Gabe...hello? your an angel, why were you allowing this human girl to feel you up, cuddle with you, and pull you into her bed at her every whim? So after all that happened I say she redeamed herself as well as everyone els so it was all good. great writing regardless I felt a rainbow of emotions reading this so it was a good read.

Well, wow! I didn't exactly see all that coming! I mean, Last Rite was packed with action. Especially a HUGE final battle between Heaven and Hell, which I think we all knew had to happen. I have to say, I'm pretty happy with the way things turned out. I think each character served his/her purpose, and we finally see what Frannie's actual purpose is.

this book was a good wrap up of the personal demons series!! altough i did that the book had TOO much conflict.... there was happy times w/ Luc... then there were the sad times..... then happy .......then sad.... then happy.... then sad and then happy!! i mean seriously!! No book character has that many relationship problems within the course of, like, 2 months!! completely unrealistic!! i was rootin' for Gabe... turns out he was a d-bag..... i rooted for luc... turns out hes a d-bag as well.. s...more

This book wraps up the “Personal Demons” trilogy after Lisa DesRochers first introduced the series two years ago.

I read the first two books in this trilogy last year, in fairly quick succession. I read the first book a week or two before BEA and was full of hope that I'd be able to get book two at BEA, saving me from having to wait a few extra weeks to read it. (I was not that lucky.) Every time a series comes to an end, I feel a bit of sadness. This book had so much in it. It felt like a journey had ended. I mean it utterly made me feel so many emotions. Books that are truly awesome do this. They make you feel something. What each character does in this book is really fantastic as it is the grand finale so to speak. There are things that make this book special to me.

I really love how both Gabe and Luc both realize that they do love Frannie. Love how Gabe is back in this book and starts to realize that things are not always black and white. He also seems much more powerful and determined than he was in the first two books. I think Gabe even begins to realize that he’s not perfect or completely noble. Somehow he’s made mistakes. He feels like he has to do something.

Also love the conflict that Luc and Frannie have to deal with it in their relationship since the last book just ripped them apart. They both love each other and can’t see it. Luc and Frannie are both noble characters in their own ways. What I love about their relationship is that both of them are hurt and you can see these are two people who care about each other. It’s very evident.

The use of the other angels and Grigori, were excellent. I love how they all help Frannie train in different ways. Like these scenes because Frannie will need it later on in the book. Frannie takes these lessons to heart and starts to practice them. Also like how she worries about her family.

Her family dynamic was interesting. I was so torn about my feelings about her brother, Matt. Liked that he was trying to earn forgiveness and did something really mean and underhanded, yet it was understandable. Also liked the surprised regarding her sisters. I didn’t see that coming. Other characters also made the last 50 or so pages fly by because you were like…what was that or why did you do that.

Overall a great ending to a great series. Maybe there will be a spin off series.

Wow! Lisa Desrochers does it again! Last Rite, the conclusion to the Personal Demons trilogy goes out with a wicked bang!

Not only do we pick up where we leave off again, but are in the middle of a chase! Frannie, Luc and Gabriel are running from the demons who are out to get Frannie to deliver to Lucifer. They escape to Florida since Gabe believes it'll be safe for Frannie there, but nothing goes as planned!

I can’t believe I’m actually giving this one less than five stars. After enjoying Personal Demons and Original Sin so much, I was expecting the final book in this series to be amazing. But Last Rite was a let down for me. Almost nothing happened in the first half of the book. Pretty much all Frannie, Luc and Gabe did was obsess over their tragic love lives, which annoyed me. You’d think that with the army of hell after them, they’d have more pressing things to worry about, but nope.

I think this was my favorite book of the trilogy. I had issues with book 2 (of my own making - damn you, spoilers!), but this one took all the tension and build up and turned it into something dangerous and kickass. The resolution worked nicely and something that had been bugging me since book 2 was addressed and laid to rest.

Everything seems to be amped up to the tenth degree and it just does not disappoint. It all leads up to a surprise ending that readers will not see coming their way.

Lisa Desrochers has taken this series to new explosive heights with this final novel. She's delivered new and interesting characters, while developing her more complext main characters over time throughout the series. I personally felt like she has breathed new life into young adult paranormal fiction with this stunning and gorgeous thrilling series.

Fans of Rachel Vincent's Soul Screamer's trilogy or even Lauren Kate's Fallen series will findselves falling head over feet for this epicly amazing series.(less)

In Personal Demons, we met the wonderful trio; Gabe, an angel, Luc, a demon, and Frannie, a really special human. She's special enough for Lucifer (you know, that bad guy that lives in Hell) to actually send demons after her.

Last Rite was the conclusion to this series. And it was awesome! The story took so many crazy turns that I never saw coming! Both Gabe and Luc struggle with their feelings for Frannie and trying to the the right thing. Frannie's family also played a much bigger role in this book and it was nice to see. Some big decisions were made here and not everyone survives!

I'm not sure how I feel about this finale. I'm really quite torn. I was so freaking frustrated while reading this book. Luc wouldn't open up, but at least he was the only one of the MCs not doing anything overly stupid. Frannie kept lying and hiding things and Gabe didn't even try to keep himself from being changed mortal. I really wanted to throttle Frannie and Gabe. Eventually, I wanted something bad to happen so that they would stop being such idiots.
