IMPORTANT NOTE FROM DELILAH MARVELLE’S WEBSITE:

Bonus Chapters from Forever Mine that were not included in this Prequel Novella are available for free download. These two bonus chapters are the untold story of what happened to Nathaniel from Augustine's point of view. The publisher removed these two chapters from Forever Mine, despite my insisting upon their importance to the series and the novella. Which is why I am offering them for free. I feel this story and the entire series is incomplete wi...more

Forever Mine

Review : 5x5 Throw in a SWOON too
So I won the 1st book in this series and wanted to know if there was anything before it... Well there was Forever Mine! Also there are bonus chapters that go along with it and you need to read those FIRST, and they are free. I will say that I'm not sure I would have gotten the depth of Augustine if not for the bonus chapters...

Overview:

Forever Mine starts out in New York City in 1800 where we are introduced to Lady Augustine Jane Ascott and her family. Augustine is a 17-year-old young woman with a 10-year-old brother, Nathaniel, and a mother and father who don’t have the best relationship. Her father, the earl of Sumner, partakes in some extra curricular activities that are very disrespectful to their mother and prove to be a danger to their family. After a strange man is seen outside the window of Nathaniel’s bedcham...more

I have to say, this novella, sets up a fascinating series and I'm excited to delve right into the first book. It was a quick read, with touches of angst and humor, and beautifully written, but what really made me give this the 5 star was what WASN'T in it. Delilah Marvelle apparently has two chapters on her website that were not included for some gosh darn reason in this novella. To me, those two chapters is what made this novella an incredible read. Don't know why it wasn't included in the nove...more

"Forever Mine" by Delilah Marvelle

Lady Augustine Jane Ascott has been suffering with the loss of her brother who was kidnapped in New York over two years ago. He was the one person that she could trust and confide in. Now, two years later, Lady Augustine's mother insists that she meet a man and get married so she can put the past of her brothers disappearance behind her for good. Lady Augustine would love nothing more than to give her heart to someone, but she knows that she will never be able

I really liked this novella, a set up for Delilah Marvelle's Rumor series. Lady Augustine still, two years later, cannot move beyond the mysterious kidnapping of her younger brother Nathaniel. The Duke recognizes the sadness in her and feels he has found a perfect match as he is trying to still move on from the death of his beloved first wife many years ago. As always is the case with novellas that I like, this one was too short! I would have liked to see some scenes of when the Duke first met A...more

This is my first read by Delilah Marvelle. I thought it would be a good primer for the first full length book in the series, which I recently purchased. Unfortunately this novella was just OK for me. It did not feel like this novella had a complete beginning, middle, or end. Rather, if feels like we’re dropped right into the middle of things with no back story to make sense of it all. There is little romance in the story. By the time the novella starts, Wentworth is already in love with Augustin...more

Even though this novella takes place 20-some odd years before the first book in the Rumor series, Forever and a Day, I would suggest reading Forever and a Day first. That way, you are not spoiling some of the story from Forever and a Day. Plus, I personally enjoyed seeing Leonard first as an older gentleman in the role of Roderick's father, and then in the novella as his younger self finding love for the second time.

Leonard, the Duke of Wentworth, has set his eyes on Lady Augustine. He is ready...more

This was not even a novella. It was like picking up a book that was missing the entire first half. I wanted to read a love story. She skipped all the fun parts. And to top it all off, we didn't get to find out what happened to her brother. I checked out the missing chapters that precede the events in the novella, and they didn't really add much. I assume the next in the series will continue the storyline. I hope so, because this was hardly enough to whet an appetite. Not really worth reading.

FOREVER MINE is the prequel novella to the Rumor Series. You don't have to read this prequel to understand the series, but it adds a depth that would otherwise go unnoticed. FOREVER MINE and the events within its pages, haunts the entire series. This novella and each book within the series (FOREVER AND A DAY, FOREVER A LADY and FOREVER A LORD) are strategic puzzle pieces. They read alone to create a story, yes, but when you put them all together, it creates a much bigger story to provide a deepe...more

In the words of the Goodreads stars..this was "ok"

Felt like one big set up for future books maybe...I don't know. The romance was rushed...and there is a lot of time spent in the beginning setting up Lady Augustine's evil father and missing brother - and not really any resolution to it all. The story just didn't feel complete or wrapped up.

Now, this was a Novella that was great from the beginning to the end. It didn't lull or greg on. I adored the relationship between Leonard and Augustine. I am intrigued regarding the whereabouts of her brother, who has him and why. I will read this one again and I recommend it as a lite quick enjoyable read.

It's always a joy to read a Delilah Marvelle novel, and this novella is no exception. Lady Augustine Jane Ascott and the Duke of Wentworth are characters you can't help falling in love with. I rooted for their happy-ever-after from the very first page. A must read.
Sophia
It was really really short. I felt that this could have been a whole book on its own, but instead it was written as a prequel. But it totally did it's job, I want to read the next book now. So I guess it was well written after all.

In the words of Drunk Hulk "WHAT POINT"

a) I accept that this is essentially a prologue to another story.
b) That is no excuse for illogical plotting, flimsy characterization, and inattention to detail.
c) At least it was short.

Very nice intro to the new series, and definitely got me more intrigued than I already was! (I started Forever and a Day immediately after reading it.) My only complaint is that it was too short! But it is a novella, so really, what did I expect? :)
Shh I'm reading!
I was a little hesitant to read this after my disgust with the scandal series, but this novella was enjoyable and peaked my curiosity about the rumor series. What happened to Nathaniel? I can't wait to find out.

I'm glad I read it for the background to the next book, but I'm not sure I would go much beyond that.

I just wasn't crazy about this novella. There wasn't much depth. It's whole purpose seemed to be to set up the subsequent books. This is alright, but the story should at least stand up on its own.
Jenny
Way too short. This is why I try to stay away from novellas.

An interesting introduction to what could be a good series.

It would have been better had it been a little longer.

A short novella, leading up to a new series.
Lorraine
It was a good lead in story to what I hope is a promising series.

I spent my youth studying various languages, reading voraciously, and playing the pianoforte. I confess that here ends the extent of my gentle breeding. I was a naughty child who was forever torturing her parents with countless adventures that they did not deem respectable. Confined to my room on many occasions due to these misadventures, I soon discovered the quill and its amazing power. I scribe...more
