Eleven Rooms. Ten Bodies. One Empty Grave.

Brandon Fisher never expected this when he signed up as a Special Agent for the FBI. Eleven graves have been found, but only ten are filled. What is the significance of eleven? You'll feel like you are right there with the team of FBI agents as they race against time to stop the serial killer from filling the final grave. Their prime suspect is behind bars. Who is killing in his stead--and why? The ending will not disappoint.

Carolyn Arnold writes in a quick-paced style that I love. She has great dialogue. Her ability to build suspense hooks you from the first chapter. Arnold is...more

3.5 stars.

Brandon Fisher is on his probationary period with the FBI and his first case is one for the record books. This is a rather dark story (Hannibal Lecter worthy serial killer and a very imperfect main character). Early in the investigation, this case gets personal for Special Agent Fisher. We as readers get a first person view into the FBI procedures as well as the mind of our special agent. The plot and pacing were spot on, and nothing is given away too early.

Here is where my review tak...more

I was very intrigued by the premise of this book based on its description. I think the author paced the story very well to keep you reading to find out what would happen next.

We join Special Agent Brandon Fisher on his first case working in the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit. Ten bodies are discovered in a hidden bunker that we find out parallels an old cold case and this sets in motion a series of events that eventually bring the things a bit too close to home for Brandon.

He has to deal with a...more

I love suspense novels and even more than that I love ones involving FBI agents. I don't really know why, but it is what it is. When I first discovered this book I was a little more than excited to read it and I am happy to say that now that I have finished it I am even more excited!

My first reaction to this suspense filled book is that it was like reading an episode of Criminal Minds, and if you have seen that show then you already know how awesome this book is going to be. From the moment I p...more

When I read TIES THAT BIND by Carolyn Arnold a few months ago, I was very impressed with many aspects of the book. Now I've read her latest mystery, ELEVEN, and I have to say she has outdone herself. This is one tremendous book.

ELEVEN is an FBI procedural novel about a serial killer. The man's crimes are so gruesome, even the CSI and FBI professionals are feeling queasy. What is fascinating about ELEVEN from a structural viewpoint is that the killer is already in prison and his identity is alrea...more

Carolyn Arnold has written a lot more books than I have. She seems very supportive of other authors. I follow her on Twitter and read her tweets. She seems like a nice person. All of which means I really wanted to like her book, but I didn't. The concept of finding a whole series of hidden burial chambers under a house is great, and a whole bunch of the twists and turns of the novels were pretty good too. But what lost it for me was the characters themselves. I just didn't like Brandon Fisher. T...more

Eleven is a police procedural thriller based on the investigation of a current serial killer with narcissistic tendencies. It follows the investigation through several viewpoints, but chiefly through the eyes of Brandon Fisher, a trainee special agent.

While I don't normally read police procedurals (and don't tend to watch "CSI"-type shows), I enjoyed Eleven. It moved at a cracking pace, but was still a complex story with several sub plots, such as Brandon's troubled relationship with his wife an...more

As a fellow Indie author, I picked up Eleven by Carolyn Arnold for two reasons: one, to support a fellow trailblazer and two, because this is my favorite genre.

I am SO glad that I did!

This mystery/thriller was very fast paced, written as if from the hands and mind of a former FBI agent! Carolyn's ability to layer the spellbinding suspense from one chapter to the next was fantastic. I found myself awake twice at 2:00 in the morning, on work nights no less, to finish.

The interplay between the cen...more

Carolyn Arnold weaves a frustratingly teasing tale in Eleven. Brandon Fisher, rookie agent, struggling husband and a man with a good eye for detail gets dropped into the deep end with his first major case. Eleven grave sites, Ten bodies, this gruesome case has him spooked from the beginning, and when he realises he could BE number 11, the stakes get even higher.....

Under the command and grudging wing of Jack Harper, the man he respects but is infuriated by, they navigate the twists and turns of...more

The number “Eleven”, its spiritual meaning and its place in the science of numerology, adds depth and intrigue to this fascinating tale. I admire Ms. Arnold’s ability to weave symbolism into a skillfully written story. The relationship between Paige, Brandon, and Zachery provides light relief in the midst of a riveting plot.

Veteran FBI agent, Jack Harper, gives his rookie partner, Brandon Fisher, a hard time when they are assigned to investigate the discovery of ten dead bodies and eleven grave...more

Eleven is an FBI thriller that has great character development, a unique writing style that dares to "break the rules", and an excellent overall story.

Character Development

I think this is where I enjoyed Eleven the most. The characters in Eleven were very well-written. They each had their own unique personalities and it is evident that Carolyn Arnold put a lot of time and care into developing them. They were created in a way that didn't overwhelm you with a lengthy back story or flashbacks, but...more

I actually just around to marking this book today are reading. I liked it alot although it did remind me a great deal of Crimnal Minds. Maybe it was fashioned after this show. It took me awhile to sink my teeth into it. Once I got there I didn't want to put it down. I love books that keep me guessing and when I haven't guessed the ending.

3.5 stars. Fairly formulaic, but still a good read. I definitely didn't guess the villain till the end. I don't know why, but it just didn't fire me up like other similar books. I will try the next in the series though, as this is just the first.

picture an underground chamber with eleven graves and ten decomposing bodies making up a grizzly scene. Meet the FBI agents called in to solve the case of serial murders. The catch is that the person they suspect for the heinous crimes is doing time for killing a cow and assault. He sees himself as judge, jury and executioner; redemption of sin through death is the only way. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep the readers attention. I give this 5 gold stars for a rivetting thriller.

Loved this book just could not put it down for a minute

I do not read a lot of serial killer books because I guess I've read so many and watched so many Criminal Minds episodes that I just got tired with the whole serial killer thing. However, Eleven caught my eye so I downloaded the sample chapters and was hooked. The premise is good and a little different. The characters are well developed and it kept me turning the pages. Well worth the read. It reminded me how much better a book is than a movie or TV episode.

Carolyn Arnold had a love for writing back in her teen years, but her passion was reignited in 2006 when a fellow employee said, "tell me a story". Since then, Carolyn has written 8 novels, 2 short stories, 1 novella, and has plans for many more.

Her Madison Knight series has become an international Kindle best-seller, with all three hitting the top 100 in Police Procedurals in the US. Set in the f...more
