I just got this in the mail, thanks to the First Reads program. The author was kind enough to send a note and some worksheets for my kids that go along with the storyline, so that was pretty neat too.

The illustrations are cute, the message is good. You can do all of these things...you just have to try and be yourself.

My six year old loved it. He told me it needed to get five stars.

My five year old thought it was good, but not great. He said three stars.

Great book for teaching English or Spanish as a second language. I've used it to teach kids English and ESL teachers Spanish in a training workshop. Easy text for adult students to break down and analyze. Key text offers enough repetition to aid the language learner with out too much to bore the learner. Illustrations are easy to understand and interesting. Great overall moral to the story. Length of story is also perfect for inside or outside the classroom use.

I received this little excellent book through First Reads. The text isn't too challenging for emerging readers, and it has a great message. It introduces readers to Spanish in print. I have the worst time trying to correctly pronounce Spanish, so that was the only draw back for me. Merrick (4 yr old) loved it and requested it again. Check it out!
