4.5 stars Oooo, smut smut smut smut smut. :D Is it terribly shallow to admit that I snapped up this book because I heard there was hot *whispers* dragon sex in it? I rarely read paranormal romances these days, but all of the reviews I saw for this book were raves, so I was wild with curiosity. Besides, I have a serious weakness for shapeshifters, which has sometimes led to disastrous reads and sometimes led to really fun ones. I'm happy to report that in this case, the book more than lives up to...more

Dragon Bound was an awesome book. I loved just about everything about it. I'm not even going to pretend that my favorite element wasn't Dragos, 'cause it was! I have an unnatural attraction to possessive, jealous, stalkerific heroes who are scary as heck, and Dragos is going on my list of favorite heroes of this type. I liked that although Pia started out as a thief who dared to steal from him, she became his own personal hoard. He acted like a dragon of old, used to having his way in all things...more

★★★★★ Yes, five full stars! One of the best paranormal/fantasy books I’ve read this year! I wanted to read it faster, but real life got in the way. As it was, I had it planned for a future “buddy read” and peeked at the first few pages. Three chapters later I was e-mailing my GR friend to hint around about moving this one up in our queue; luckily, she agreed. Ha! Indeed, she finished the book before I did. This is the first...more
“I am jealous, selfish, acquisitive, territorial and possessive. I have a terrible temper, and I know I can be a cruel son of a bitch.” He cocked his head. “I used to eat people, you know.”

An alpha, a predator falling like a ton of bricks check, a heroine who challenges him and calls him on it check, some sexy back-up sentinels check and an extremely well done world-building and romance check. I had never heard of this author before. I came across her name in Amazon's paranormal romance forum. She was getting some buzz as a good new PNR author. I'm thrilled that I found her! I've read all of the major PNR series and many of the minor ones, and I struggle to find new great books to read in the genre. So many of the ones I've tried lately have just been good/ok, but not this one--it was great! I enjoyed it as much as...more

I promise, not even I would go looking for Jane Austen socio-economic class stratification and Eldridge Cleaver-style sexual politics (because, ick) in my Dragon fantasy/paranormal romances. I don't. Really. I promise. Because that crosses the line of would you just lighten up a little too far, even for me. I couldn't help it though. This book is fascinating and it was totally unexpected.

One million romance bloggers can't all be wrong. Honestly, I hardly ever read other people's reviews until after I finish a book. I'm always afraid it will color my opinions. But you would have had to be living under a rock to miss the huge response to this book when it came out. Reviewer after reviewer, gushed on how epic and awesome they thought it was. Holy crackers, I loved this book! The world that Thea Harrison has created is flat out unique and amazing. It was so refreshing and so engrossing. There were amazingly tender moments, extremely sexy moments, laugh out loud moments and moments where our hero and heroine kicked some serious ass. I'm a sucker for a great fantasy novel, and Harrison does not disappoint with Dragon Bound.

Well, not so much the first half - that was just meh. The writing was good, but I just could not get into it. Pia was annoying, but Dragos (insert besotted smile here) was cute from the very beginning.

First off I must admit I'm not a fan of this genre - paranormal urban fantasy/shapeshifters. I read this due to the great reviews it got and curiosity. I'm glad I read it and I will try to read the whole series. That said, I did like it. It wasn't a WOW 5 star read for me but I did like it. I did feel that something was missing, though. I can't quite put my finger on it. Something about the "romance" didn't quite work. Maybe if the author built the characters a little more. Show who they were an...more
I ADORED this book! I think it has topped my best debut author and books this year. The worldbuilding, which features fae/elves and wyrs (shifters) was well thought out and was solid but the real joy was with the romance. I got a funny feeling that this will become an uber popular series amongst PNR/Romance fans. I have been burned out on PNR the past year or so and I rarely picked up a new series because of this but I am so glad I bought this due to the pre-release buzz! The dialogue was snappy...more
Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison is the first book in the Elder Races series. It is a wonderfully rich and entertaining story written in a world that is intriguing and unique. I absolutely loved this book. It has all the elements that I look for in a paranormal romance, a protective and strong Alpha male, a smart heroine that gives as good as she gets, outstanding secondary characters and a story that grabs your attention and doesn't let go. It's exciting, witty, erotic, creative and romantic.

A different take on the Dragon theme. I liked most of it, but the story really took off for me at about the halfway mark, when they got back to New York. After that, I was pretty invested in the story. The first sex scene needed a little more finesse; all that thrusting and digging of tongues, and 'gobbling her to a climax' gave me the giggles. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of some of the silly sex language, and because it was dreadfully slooowww up until the the 50% point....more

I made a mistake before reading this book and I wish I wouldn’t have. Usually when I know that I’ll be reading a book soon, I stay far away from reviews and conversations about the book. It’s not that I’m afraid I’ll be spoiled, it’s just that I don’t want to go into a book looking for a positive or a negative that someone else had. Often I’ll find myself focusing on things that I never would have noticed on my own, and I hate that. I want to go in blind and see what my raw reaction is.

5 stars. What can I say... it lived up to its hype, and that is coming from someone who doesn't usually read paranormal romances anymore. Actually, as of late, paranormals are my lowest rated books.
I loved, loved, loved both Pia and Dragos and I loved them more (if that is possible) together. This book feels like a guilty pleasure, though I don't think it's really all that bad for you, even given its super Alpha hero and the "mating" business. For one thing, it makes sense that Dragos would be kinda possessive and medieval--he's a friggin' milleniums-old DRAGON (shapeshifter). And the heroine calls him out and is herself no fainting daisy.
Hot stuff. With amusing first-person (hers) narration and dialogue. Also, he's a friggin' DRAGON. Ahahahaha!
