Until There Was You is the second book in Jessica Scott’s Coming Home series and another great story. The characters, the plot, everything about this book drew me in and didn't let me go.
One of the things I most enjoy about this author’s way of telling a story is the unique, candid look we get into the behind-the-scenes, decision making process. Evan and Claire are career army officers, Evan having graduated from West Point, Claire stepping from enlisted to officer via OCS(Officer Candidate School). Do you ever get your hands on a book that everyone seems to love, and then you start reading it and wonder, Huh. Am I missing something? That’s exactly what happened to me with this book.

I had some trouble getting into UNTIL THERE WAS YOU. I felt that it was missing some of the passion and emotional attachment that I was hoping for. As I read, I was going through the motions, but never actually felt the same emotions that Claire and Evan experienced. I enjoyed the sexual tension at first, but most of the book felt dry. I need to think about this for a while before finalizing my review. This isn't a dreamy fairy tale fantasy romance. It is raw, and gritty, and real. While I might be a slut for angsty reads, I'm also a slut for the fantasy. And UNTIL THERE WAS YOU has no fantasy.

Jessica Scott is a brilliant writer who is clearly aware of the military world, the war, the internal politics and differences yet whereas this book is great with the details it is disappointing with the romance. As a reader I do not want sugary sweet romance all the time, I do not even mind bantering but in this book what the characters did was bicker, they bickered so much that they annoyed me and I wanted to slap them.

If you have not read this author, you really should. I love her. I haven't read another story that really compares to her depiction of the returning war "hero" struggling with injury and PTSD. She really does a remarkable job and it is a Loveswept!

Jessica Scott outdid herself with this second book in the Coming Home series. I absolutely loved Evan and Claire's story. Watching them grow and develop as I read each page was a very emotional experience. I really connected with Claire. Scott nailed my own emotions completely, which made this character so real to me. Jessica Scott has again delivered a military love story that rings true. When we first meet Evan and Claire the sparks are there but not acted on, mainly because of the differences the two have. Read the eARC copy and loved it. I didn't think Jessica Scott could top BECAUSE OF YOU, but she did. These were not characters in her book, they were people. Funny, stressed, flawed, HOT, they gave those of us not in the military a wonderful look at the lives they lead.
The romantic scenes were smoking hot. The dialogue was fast and descriptive. The book flowed from scene to scene so smoothly. Definitely a must read.

This is an amazing book. Not only do you have a wonderful love story, you see what true friendship is about; those whom you to choose to be your family, those who touch your heart that you would walk through fire for. The author does an amazing job of getting you into the character's heads and hearts. I enjoyed this book with its realistic characters and story line.

I'm new to Jessica Scott's books, but I have to say that I really liked this one. Her writing is very emotionally and psychologically deep. If you are expecting a lot of drama and action like in many romances this book is not for you. In this book the romance is subtle and difficult to develop. The main characters have a lot of personal, professional and mental obstacles that they have to overcome in order to be able to open themselves to love.
