He leaned me back, his hand entwined in mine, his other arm beneath my back. His long dark hair brushed against my skin like satin, as he pressed his ruby lips to my neck. My breathing was erratic, my pulse raced."Are you ready for forever?"

A race against time to save the one she loves. Will she make it?

The second volume of Pretty in Black installment goes deeper into the mysteries left from the first book.Ellie is left out to confront all the questions that were raised while trying to cope with life in the absence of Marcus. The history of Evermores and Hunters was so beautifully told, which I think it was the landmark of this volume. As the mysteries began to unravel ,the mixed signal that Ellie received begin to conflict her heart.

An important fact this volume is the love triangle born with the...more

I enjoyed both Pretty in Black and Black Satin, but liked this one slightly more, despite the absence of Marcus. It just had more intensity and conflict and the ending is stunning.

I really love the character Marcus and wish he’d had a bigger presence in Black Satin. He’s almost absent in the book. I got really drawn into his POV in the beginning. What I love about this series is it has the familiar and well-worn construct of hunter in love with hunted and visa versa, but it still maintains a fr...more

Black Satin is the second book in the Pretty In Black series by Rae Hachton; the series gets even better in this second book which tales the tale of the passionate young lovers Marcus Marble and Ellie Piper. In this book, Marcus has restored Ellie’s life, giving her the life she always wanted. Her mother happily married nice home and her sister Darcy alive. All is well, could be considered perfect except for the fact that Marcus has left. He believes in order to protect Ellie, that he must leave...more

RATING : 4 STARS!!

I was a little confused at the start of this book, but then I got where Rae was coming from. I did expect it to continue from where Pretty In Black finished, it kind of reverted to back pedaling and being seen through Marcus's eyes, which did answer some questions from book 1.

Once we are caught up again....Walter has entered the scene.

Black Satin follows the Pretty in Black installment of this series. The ending of Pretty in Black was surprising and unexpected; Ellie's sister Darcy is now alive and readers get a look into Marcus' world. Black Satin begins in Marcus' voice, but I could not decide what point in time I was entering his world. It was from his point of view that we see Marcus and Ellie first meet, but didn't we already read something similar at the end of Pretty in Black? Don'...more

I was expecting the story to pick up from where Ellie left off, meaning after she woke up from death. What I didn't expect was the rather exceptional recap of Pretty in Black that not only reminded me of all the drama that went down, but also enlightened me with some very new and gripping details told from the perspective of Marcus.

Rae gave quite a lot of insight on the existence of evermores, corvidaes and goyls, and I do mean a lot. I'm just happy she made it interest...more

Black Satin is the sequel of Pretty in Black. I really enjoyed the first book of this series and I was eager to learn what happened with Marcus! I was anticipating this sequel because I fell for Pretty in Black: Totally my kind of read: depress, wicked and lonely young girl/ a mysterious encounter in a cemetery/ as a fallen angel, Marcus is sexy and have a dark side/ supernatural creatures and events at every turns/ a thrilling plot/ interesting and convincing secondary characters/ an incredible...more

Black Satin tour, here it is! So here I am, listening to some Cocteau Twins to set the mood, and I’m just going to type it out. And in many ways, it fits the Cocteau Twins’ music. It was dreamy, it flowed well, and it transported you to another place. HERE is my review of Pretty in Black.

Black Satin is the sequel to Pretty In Black. The beginning kind of reviews some of the first book, which I appreciated. Not so much because I needed the refresher, I read them back to back. But I appreciated it...more

*This I actually would rate as 3.5 stars.

After reading the first book in this series I was really curious to see where the story would go. You can see my review here. I love how this one starts off from Marcus's POV and we get to see how some of the events that unfolded were in his eyes. We also get a bit of background on some of the stuff in Nevermore and how he actually died and came to be an Evermore. After that we jump right back into the story where book one left off in Ellie's POV. She is...more

Well, I've been debating it and this was an incredibly hard choice to make on how to rate this book, because even though it has Gargoyles (& a very sexy one named Walter, at that!) a steampunk flare, and a dramatic and explosive ending that will forever remain the most gorgeous ending to a book that I have ever read, and also my most favorite to write, I STILL have to give this book 4 stars because let's just face it, Marcus Marble doesn't have too many appearances in this segment of the ser...more

As it usually is with sequels, Black Satin delves deeper into the world of Nevermore: the evermores, the Corvidae hunters and the Gargoyles. It explored more despite being more fast paced and with more action. Ellie gets to know more of her past; meets people who know more about the land of Nevermore and the Land of the Naught (Gargoyle's residence) and uncover the mystery surrounding her life.

Ellie, being a mature protagonist, knows that she has to move on somehow now that Marcus has disappear...more

'Black Satin' is the second book in the Pretty in Black series that follows Ellie Piper and Marcus Marble. In this book, Marcus seemingly disappears from Ellie's life, leaving her devastated. On top of dealing with a broken heart, girls from her school are starting to be viciously murdered and the culprit is coming for her next. Ellie has some huge revelations in this novel that completely change her life. She finally comes to terms with her destiny and must decide which path she will c...more

Black Satin is the second book in Rae Hachton's Pretty In Black series. For starters, I want to comment on the covers. Both books have eerie, beautiful covers. They are what first grabbed my attention when deciding to sign up for the tour.

Rae Hachton writes in a lovely, flowing style that paints pictures in your head of the events happening in the story. She has a lovely gothic flare that stands out among today's young adult paranormal writers. The plot moves along at a fast pace and I couldn't...more

After reading the first book in Rae Hachton's Pretty in Black series, I was looking forward to finding out what was going on with Ellie and Marcus Marble "swoon." Black Satin starts out with Marcus Marble's point of view. It was very interesting to find out some of the history that takes place before Ellie and Marcus' first encounter in Pretty in Black. We also get to find out more about Nevermore and some of the other characters that we were introduced to in the first book. Marcus has been thre...more

Well as always Rae has managed to create a beautiful world I totally get lost in. Her writing leaves a feeling of dark and beautiful. With the second book in the Pretty in black series I have come to like all the characters a bit more. Ellie is funny and very inquisitive, never keeps her mouth shut for no one. She is intense and that intensiveness is matched by Marcus and then enters Mr Wagner (swoon) Gorgeous and wow did he make me laugh. I enjoyed everything about this book, it started off bea...more

It's hard for me to put into words why I love this series so much. I suppose it could be how the author connects me to the characters. I feel their emotions as if they were my own. It could also be the detailed world-building that lets me see exactly the environment in which the characters dwell. Or possibly, it's the staccatic writing style that really seems to work for me. I know some people would describe Hachton's writing style as choppy, but again, I really enjoy it, as I feel it's a true r...more

I loved Black Satin! This was a perfect sequel to Pretty In Black and the beginning was written wonderfully with Marcus' point of view of details that happened in Pretty In Black. I do however recommend reading Pretty In Black first because you will miss out on other important details. I love Rae's writing style and the imaginative dark world that she has created. The characters were interesting, however Marcus wasnt in this book as much as I liked. Ellie remains to be a wonderful character and...more

this has gargoyles! not too many books have gargoyles and the scene where he jumps through window to save girl is awesome. and when they are on the train and that is action packed. this is good book.

I really enjoyed this segment of the quartet. The author gave us a refreshing reminder of book one and then dove headfirst into the deep end of the pool with the story. There were twists and turns that I never would have expected. I loved following my favorite characters through this part of the story and was totally disappointed when it ended. I can't wait to see where the author takes us in book three! I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good action packed Goth story :)
