Roseline Enescue didn't ask to become an Immortal, to have all of the guests at her wedding slaughtered, or be forced into marriage with a man whose lust for blood would one day ignite the vampire legend.
Willing to risk everything for a chance at a normal life, Roseline escapes to America. Terrified her husband Vladimir will find her, Roseline enrolls as a senior in Chica...more

Interesting take on the vampire myth, the Immortals aren't vampires but they need blood. There isn't much detail written about the Immortals and so all the readers were left with just the vague feeling of Immortals being powerful and superior to humans in every physical way. I thought the romance line between Gabriel and Rose was believable, though why are they bound? Hopefully it'll be answered in the second book.

Why did I pick up this random book? It was part of the Kindle Lending Library thing. And I needed to use up this month’s library use. And I apparently I didn’t do much research. I really don’t get how the average rating is 4.10 stars.
The book is about a vampire Immortal who is married to Dracula Vladmir. So, somehow Roseline escapes and moves to a town. She instantly gets lots of friends and finds a boy. And then its Tru Lv 4ever and stuff (that’s by fifty percent mind you). They fight some and...more

Some parts of the story are questionable and the characters' developments and motives were unclear at times, but an exciting read nonetheless. I look forward to finding out what happens next in part two of the trilogy.
There were grammar mistakes throughout the Kindle edition, so I hope they get corrected in the future.

I have always loved the idea of Dracula. I immensely enjoy seeing others' representation of the legendary mythical figure. So this book was a special treat for me.So this story centers around Roseline, the unwilling bride of Bladamir, who we know as Dracula. He's sadistic and brutal, having slaughtered her family on the night of their wedding. At that time, she was only a teenager herself, and hadn't really lived her own life yet. She was forced into immortality and became Vladamir's captive. An...more
Two things I liked:
1. Good intro. The blood bath introduction to the main character, Roseline, is certainly reminiscent of Kill Bill Vol. 1; vampire hubby dispatches her entire wedding audience in a brutal blood bath, then turns her into a vampire...
2. Great concept! Roseline escapes from Romania and her cruel, blood-lusting vampire husband to disguise herself as a student at a Chicago Prep School. She might be 400 years old, but she looks a lusty seventeen and quickly makes friends with a Goth...more

Sometimes there are books that just call to a reader, and this is one of those reads for me. Roseline was traumatically changed to an immortal on the say of her wedding. Vladimir, her tyrant of a husband, slaughtered her entire family while making her watch that day. After that, he subjected Rose to centuries of abuse until she managed...more

ugh. i made it about 20% through this one and just had to stop. so many things just didn't work for me. a few:
1. editing. i can look past a few typos here and there but this was pretty rough.
2. the female protagonist made my teeth grate. she's supposedly a 300 year old vampire (close enough - in the book they are called Immortals) but she's about as bad ass as a wet dish rag.
so the thing about vampire (and vamp-like) books (and i read a lot of these). vampires (and the like) need to be bad ass...more

I am not sure why authors' don't take advantage of every single avenue of publication open to them. I know that if I come across a recommendation from goodreads or a friend I check the book out right away, if it is available and is interesting to me, I buy it. If it is not available for me to buy on the Nook, I don't and then...I forget about it. Essentially the author has lost the chance at a sale, because I am not going to remember that I wanted a particular book 1 week from now much less 3 mo...more
So, this was my first Amy Miles book. In a quest to read more of the authors attending the Boston Author Event, I found her name and recognized it from the Facebook group for the event and decided she would be next. Also in her favor was the fact that I’ve been a complete cover whore lately and I loved the cover for this book.

Forbidden is an interesting take on the vampire myth and is more old-school vampire style. Roseline Dragomir Enescue has been married against her will to her husband Vladimir for over 300 years. Made Immortal at the age of 17 by Vladimir on their wedding night in a blood bath, Roseline has always dreamed of escaping him. She took a chance and fled Romania for Chicago. There Roseline forged unlikely friendships with Sadie and her brother William. She also falls in love with Gabriel, a human boy w...more
Roseline has lived for nearly 300 years but what kind of life? On the night of her wedding her family was slaughtered and she was turned into an Immortal, something like a vampire, by Vladamir ... the one we know as Dracula. For those long 300 years she has endured her husbands brutality, secrecy, and controlling actions. Roseline has found a way out and she settles on America as the place to start a new. She enrolls in high school, makes friends with a fun and spunky brother and sister, and sta...more

I'll have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The story plunges you right into the action, beginning with Roseline's birth and ends on a bang for sure.
Roseline isn't your average girl. She is Immortal and married to a man that relishes in death. So she does what any sane girl would do - escape. Her journey takes her to Chicago where she does everything to blend in, but she can't help but stand out. She's a reluctant heroine, and with good reason. She's come f...more

Roseline Enescue is just a 17-year-olg girl in Romania in 1689, when her father orders her to marry the wealthy Vladimir Enescue, brother to the equally wealthy and equally sadistic Lucien Enescue. Lured in by their wealth her father can't deny giving Roseline's hand, but he comes to regret it as he, along with all guests at the wedding are killed by the two monsters of brothers. Not even her little sister, Adela, isn't spared by their homicidal rampage and Roseline, having seen everyone she lov...more

From the very first chapter, I was captured, hook, line, and sinker. The fate of Roseline's family/friends was just so raw, I could picture it in my head, and it made me shudder. I read as fast as I could to find out what happened to her as she started her new life in the U.S. as Rose. Her new-found friends, the strange connection she feels with the star quarterback, and her worries of being found definitely kept m...more

I made it 30% of the way through this shitshow and actually returned it and got my 99 cents back. That is the first time I've ever done that. I'm going to ignore the stupid plot (seriously? A 300 year immortal with an unending bank account decides to sleep on a stained second-hand mattress and go to high school?) and get right to why this should never have been published, self or otherwise.

Ok so this book is one of those free on Amazon specials that I picked up when I was bored and wanted something that would be a quick easy read. I hated it at first, absolutely HATED it. There are quite a few free on Amazon books that have this problem - that they start off with a poorly written opening chapter. But, if you can make it through that, you are rewarded with a good story. It's only because I've dealt with that before that I made it through. This story was an interesting twist on the...more
Well, not sure what to say about this one. I really didn't get into it....not the characters or the storyline. Several things reminded me of a certain vampire saga we all have read...you know which one that is. Anyway, I also didn't like the writing style. One minute the characters were having a conversation and the next minute it was like there was a narrator telling what the characters were doing....it was almost to me like stage directions in a play. I don't know, maybe it was just me but I d...more
another great book to add to the many ive read. rose was 17 and given to a monster by her own father. Vladimir murdered her whole family just to have her to himself. for centuries he tortured her and made her witness his wrath. she finally got away and ran to Chicago. she entered in school and made her first friends. living as a human was hard for rose but she was happier than shes ever been allowed to be. she Keats Gabriel and feels an instant connection. she shouldn't feel this way because hes...more
I usually don't read vampire novels, but in this case I wouldn't file it under that. First of all, they are even vampires, just immortals who survive on the same things we do, including the blood of life. Second of all, it not only shows the ideas people now days have about vampires, but it also shows levels. It shows contradictions, different view points, and false beliefs. Really interesting also, because it's about a girl running from a terrible past, and how relationships with other people c...more
I wonder if this author had an editor... It was so full of word errors and grammatical errors and even, at times, errors in the type of tense of a word. It seemed to happen more when something exciting was happening in the book.
The book itself was okay. It is definately not a crossover young adult novel like so many others out there (no bridging any age gaps here). It was not a bad book but just nothing memorable. I won't be reading the next one in the installment because I just don't care about...more

Oh for crying out loud!!
After weeks of crawling through this book, like a dying man crawls through the desert, I have finally finished.
WHY DID I EVER BOTHER?
It. Just. GRRRRRRRRRr
No. Please, no.
I mean, I've been neglecting my homework so I can read tons of books/manga this weekend. Well, not neglecting... And I've read a lot, and all of it was good. Except this damn book :L
Seriously, it's the whole instantaneous love thing. And did I mention the vampires? And the vampire hunter?

I was a little disappointed about this book hoping it wouldn't be like any other typical fantasy vampire book. Instead it played out exactly like it. Girl feel irresistibly drawn to guy blah, blah, forbidden love and everything like that. The first half wasn't that bad though and kept me interested enough to keep reading. Towards the second though the main character Roseline acted really stupid going from one guy to the next. I would recommend this book to people who are looking for the typical...more
This book was okay, I felt like there really wasnt a middle to it, and that the relationship between Rose and Gabe evolved really fast, from one minute shes trying to stay away from him to the next minute shes in love with him, just didnt really work for me. Also it left some un answered questions and yes I realize there is suppossed to be two more books, but this book brought up "The Prophecy" and then never said anything more about it, so that was kind of strange too. Again the book was okay b...more

This book was okay. It's the vampire story, just a different version. It wasn't bad, and I was interested in the ending, but there were a lot of parts where I found myself confused as to what was happening. I didn't like how the story wasn't told from one certain person. A paragraph would be about one person, and their feelings, and then the next paragraph would be someone else's feelings. The dialogue was fairly weak, and the story definitely had the potential to be better.

I really enjoyed reading forbidden, it is a great story with a really good storyline it has some amazing characters that I'm sure each person will find one that they like. I really enjoyed the twists and turns within the story and was very shocked that from the beginning the action started straight away. We were thrown into the story we wasn't slowly introduced, Which made for a surprising likeable beginning. The love interest in this story is really heart whelming, the two main characters have...more
I liked this book. I thought the main character Roseline was a bit of a tortured character. Gabriel saved this book. He knew what he wanted and spent most of his time trying to deal with Roseline who kept making it hard on him. It was fast paced which I appreciate I hate when things lag forever with a bunch of inner dialogue. I look forward to the next book to see what this prophecy is all about.
This book had the potential to be really good. However, the dialogue was awkward, the editing was terrible, and some scenes just fell completely flat. For those who enjoyed Twilight, this would have been a great recommendation, but I just can't see myself recommending it. If it were to be overhauled, it would be phenomenal. The overall premise is great, but the execution... just wasn't enough.
