Fantastic battlefield action and clearer attempts at emotional resolution highlight this third installment of Kurimoto's The Guin Saga. Granted, readers will be forced to wade through dozens and dozens of pages of boring fare, but this far into the franchise, it's to be expected. In this volume, readers will spend time tiptoeing around danger in the valley of the yidoh until at last coming back to Lady Amnelis and her errant crew of fifteen thousand soldiers.

About halfway through I found the laguage started making the story drag on. I felt it was much too wordy and pushed through to finish it. Perhaps it was just a bad seed in an epic series. I will continue to finish the series in hopes the flowery language dies a little.
