A funny, smart, and thought-provoking memoir of growing up female in the 'burbs. It makes you think hard about the social pressures and expectations for girls and young women in our society. It's fascinating to see how the author bumbled her way through adolescence and managed to create an identity that felt right to her as a young woman.

This would be a great book club pick. Most women in their 30s (my age), and probably 20's and 40's, too, will find lots to relate to in the book. I'm guessing

This book is a must read - an honest account of a girl's awkward moments as she navigates adolescence, college, and early adulthood. She remains likeable through all of her experiences, even as she navigates difficult feelings about herself and her family. She's unapologetic about her mistakes as she grows up, and deftly brings the reader with her as she enters new stages of life.
