I'm going to have to let this one sink in for a little first...
Intially, 3's (Rounded up to 4 for GoodReads)

This song kept going through my head while I was reading:

Hot N Cold by Katy Perry

"Someone call the doctor
Got a case of a love bi-polar
Stuck on a roller coaster
Can't get off this ride

You change your mind
Like a girl changes clothes"

There is even a quote to back this up:
"He ran hot and cold; fire or ice."

Okay, I've let this sink it, and I'm still torn b

The year is 2020, and just 4 yrs prior the vampires were given their civil rights. There is an International Vampire Council and 20 of the oldest and most powerful vamps make up the council. The vamps have managed to take over the pharmaceutical industry and many more. They have provided cures from every thing from the common cold to cancer.

Rising to the top of the food chain, vampires no longer have to hide who, and what, they are. The government is held tightly under their thumb, as well as the pharmaceutical and entertainment industry. Hell, they control the entire world, for that matter.

Manon Mourey has led a dull life, always wondering what it is that she exists for. Working the Let It Ride tables at the Transylvania Hotel, Spa & Casino, she's known no other way of life. Her brother has been her primary caretaker, somethin

I'm the author so what else would you expect me to say? It isn't a masterpiece but it is a genuinely great piece of escapist fiction. Everything you can ask for in a vampire series geared toward the 18 to 34 demographic though if you are a mature sixteen or seventeen year old, you'll handle all the different aspects just fine.

Happy reading! ;-)

An Amazing book! A unmatched realistic take on the vampire world. The characters are extremely developed, and relatable. Incredibly smart, and I enjoyed the look into the vampire society that Ms. Blanchard had created. The plot and pace, was relentless (in a good way). I could not stop reading. The sexually intense moments will have you steaming up your reading glasses. So take caution. This is a great book to recommend.

My Rating 5 Stars!

Are there enough vampire books in your world? It seems so in mine. It also seems that each redefines the vampire, but most modern incarnations are proverbial bad boys that bite. Exceptions are books like Jim Butcher's Dresden series where he has bad girls that bite. Some vampires glitter, some don't, but in the end men fear them and women fear them a little but also captivated by them. It's sometimes hard to know whether it was Bram Stoker or James Dean who invented the vampire.

I was thrilled when I realized that this was a vampire book NOT written for young adults. Death Wish is a phenomenal start to an exciting new series geared toward adult readers.

Smartly written and extremely well thought out, this story has everything I like to see in a thrilling paranormal read:

- A cast of unique and intricately created characters that fascinate and command the reader's attention, including a heroine to whom readers can relate. She begins the story as an ordinary girl but is tra
3.5 Stars!! Vampires, werewolves, warlocks and the like are out in the open and running many of the companies and the infrastructure. There is a new world order in 2020 and the author, gratefully, included a who's who in her world in the front of the story to alleviate confusion about her world.

This is Manon's story set in Vegas. She's called into work on her day off because the owner, a vamp, wants to play the game only she deals at her table. After a playing a few hours, he tells her she is th

This was definitely an original take on vampires. I loved all of the vampire politics and world building. The book was written in a readable style, with just the right amount of information coming at you.

I think, ultimately, this story just wasn't for me. I had a hard time connecting with the main character, which will always make or break a book for me. Manon was sort of all or none in every direction. Her beliefs and emotions transitioned from one extreme to the next too rapidly for me to kee

Definitely a story well written. I'm so thankful that I was able to read this and I'm looking forward to future books by this author!

The main characters were well developed. I am struggling to decide which characters are truly the good guys and which are the bad guys. It seems they all have something to hide. This book would have ranked higher on the star level for me if there was a bit more action.

The writing style of the author is great! This was another book that I was able to read and feel

I used to be a HUGE vampire fan, I guess I just got a little worn out on them. They became rather boring and tame and then they began sparkling....ok I'm not going down that road, because Death Wish is not about sparkling vampires. It is about vampires who are very close to what I think of when I think vampire. They are very primal, extremely sexual and intensely violent. They control the government, the pharmaceutical industry and soon the world.

This read is full of bad-ass vampire action, no wussy vampires in sight. It was a little slow at the start, you have a rather large chunk of information thrust upon you and it is a little taxing to get through it but once you do, you get quite caught up in the story. There were some twists and turns throughout the read that I didn’t see coming, I don’t think I have ever come across a vampire read quite like this one, which was refreshing. The characters were easy to keep up with and even though ...more

What person goes from dating a werewolf to marrying a vampire in a heartbeat, her name is Manon. She was born by design and a victim of circumstance being a half breed but she did not know it. She had endured a hard life, no real family to help her beside her warlock brother until Mikkel a very old vampire wants to turn her and make her his bride. She would have a life she could never dream of, becoming rich and powerful and an immortal on top of the food chain. Sounds too good to be true - well ...more

Manon Mourey hasn't led the easiest of lives after being orphaned at an early age and separated from her twin brother, but she thought she had her path all figured out. That comes to a crashing halt when she discovers she is a half-vampire at the ripe age of twenty-eight. Something she never suspected before, despite a severe anemia problem. Not only this, but an elder vampire, Mikkel, wants to turn her fully and marry her. How does one react to going from poor and unwanted to rich and envied? M ...more

I had a tough time getting through the first part of this book. There is a virtual wealth of information thrown at you involving how the world has changed since vampires came out into the open and I was overwhelmed by it. While the foundation of this new world order is helpful later on as you begin to meet the different elder vamps that make up the council, I spent a good portion of the beginning of the book trying to figure out how everything fit together and whether I'd need to remember what t ...more

Death Wish takes place in the year 2020, vampires have won the same rights as humans. They have helped develop cures for diseases and have divided the world into six districts known as the Global six. I know a lot of people don't care for "info-dumps" but I like the way the author describes all of these changes right at the beginning.

Manon is asked to deal at the Let It Ride Table at the Transylvania Hotel, Casino and Spa for Mikkel Damgaard, a member of the vampire council. He asks her to be h

I had the benefit of interviewing Ms. Blanchard on a WLC blog. At the time, I had not heard of her or her book. While working on her interview, I found myself interested in the real details of her story.

I am a lover of the Paranormal and I am always looking out for vampire novels that move away from the softness of young adult. I like passion, depth and adult details to fill the pages of a book. Ms. Blanchard's novel, Death Wish, The Vamp Saga, #1 was exactly that.

Long story short, I received a free copy of this book through the Goodreads First Read program. Special thanks to Ms. Blanchard-Benson!

Unlike so many other books in the vampire genre that have flooded the market in recent memory, this one does a great job of dealing with both the cultural and historical backgrounds of vampires. For that fact alone, I'd recommend this to any Twi-hard or fan of Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood.
