I read not just Afterworld, but the whole Afterworld trilogy. It was painful.
First of all, virtually every page has at least one misspelling, or the use of an incorrect word. (Often the incorrect word is a homonym of the correct one.)
His dialogues are tedious to put it mildly. The first book was worst, but they were all bad; they just repeat things over and over. Here's the general formula:
