Have you ever read a book that reminded you to be grateful for the family that loves you? To appreciate just a bit more the sacrifices that your parents have made for you? To try and be a better daughter, sister, mother one day?
This is a story about love - not only the romantic type, but also between mothers and daughters and all the people we take for granted in our everyday lives. It is also a story of finding one’s identity, putting all the puzzle pieces together that make up the picture of w...more

This book really touched me. It's told from Sydney's POV and Grace's POV. Sydney is the mother and Grace is her daughter. I felt for both of them and could relate to each in different ways.
Sydney was likable to me. She makes mistakes and her behavior isn't always perfect. I appreciated the realistic situations that Sydney puts herself in. She had a really great boyfriend in Ethan. I mean, this guy is the real deal. BUT, I could understand where Sydney was coming from wanting to have some experi...more

What a lovely lovely story! This was quite different to a lot of books I've read lately. It wasn't a cut and dry romance.
There was romance, but this is so much more. It is about love on so many other levels too. Love between a mother and daughter, lost love, love denied, unrequited love, inconvenient love, sibling love, love between friends and ultimately, inevitable love...

I really liked this despite the "lifetime/hallmark/abc family" vibe that it gave off. It was a predictable read although the author does keep you wondering for a bit as to who the father (oh come on with a title like this you KNEW it was about a surprise pregnancy) really is. I will admit to thinking for a spell that it could very well have been the boyfriend but realized that wasn't true when the character got to explaining how she had conceived her surprise baby. I also will admit that I was a...more

Predictable but good.
I read this book in about 24 hrs. It would have been much less if I did not have to spend Easter with my family. :) The story is not told from two different sides but two different women tell two different stories. Sydney's story is told from 1991-about 93. She was a carefree college student with a long distance boyfriend. One night she slipps up and become pregnant. She decides to have the baby and she looks for support from familiar faces.

This is not your typical romance, which is where I came across it (in Amazon's romance section) but it is a priceless gem of a novel. Ethan loves Sidney, Sidney loves Ethan but she makes a bad decision that affects their lives. Every character in this story has depth - they have both good and bad aspects and this depth makes them very real. Take Sidney's mom, for example. We learn early on that she's not the most nurturing mom - of course, this is from a HS/college age daughter's perspective. As...more
Aww, so overall I really liked the book. The biggest strength it had without a doubt was the ridiculously realistic and lovable characters it employed. Sydney, one of two protagonists, was so frustrating at times but I think that's what made me like her so much in the end. She had her faults as a college student (like any of us has) but in the end, she figured out her life. It wasn't always easy, but the makeshift picture perfect life she created for herself was pretty inspiring. Then, of course...more
I would like to thank ATOMR Blog Tours for allowing me to be a part of this tour. I have to say that One Pink Line was a roller coaster read for me. Told in a dual point of view I loved reading the mother's point of view and then the daughter's point of view.
Sydney had it all. She is a senior in college and has the best boyfriend ever. She has friends and is living the college life. That is until she is in her senior year and her and her boyfriend are doing the long distance dating. Not sure if...more

I choose this book, because it sounded very different and I loved the cover, it's so pink, it catches you eye immediately. The moment I sat to read the book, I had no idea what it was about, I have completely forgotten about it. But that made it more interesting, it was like watching a movie without knowing what the movie was about, and yes that happens a lot to me.
Anyway, about the book:

The synopsis of this book caught my attention because I was faced with the very scary reality of an unplanned pregnancy at a young age. The premise of the story is a good one, and the topics discussed are timeless in their relevance, but I walked away from this book feeling as if something were missing.

First off, I read this book in only a few hours. I stayed up till the wee hours of the night finishing it and I was pulled in from the beginning. This is not usually a genre that I read and definitely not one I usually review, but I am a big girl now and I guess it’s time for more big girl books. I have to say I really loved this book. I was pulled in by the emotions and at times I even felt them a long with Sydney. This wasn’t a highly descriptive story, which I think worked ok for it, but at t...more
The story starts out with Sydney studying for college finals but as we move forward in her life, we also go into the past to see how she got to where she is today. So we get to see when she meets the love of her life, Ethan, and how things progressed between them that got us to where she starts off the book.

This is a DNF review. Below you will find the reasons I could not finish this book.
Honestly, I could tell from the first chapter that I would hate One Pink Line , but I stuck with it for my typical 50% before I called it quits. I like to give books a shot, at least.
Number one, this isn’t well written. There weren’t any typos or grammar issues, but Silver’s narration was very weak and juvenile. The moment the narrating protagonist says “Hi, my name is Mary Sue and I’m going to summarize my life f...more

I'll just get straight to it then. This book lacks the emotional depth that this topic requires. It does not do justice to the actual difficult heart-wrenching plight faced by young single mothers.

If you've ever taken a home pregnancy test, you know the nerves involved. If you want it to be positive, you are terrified it won't be. If you want it to be negative, well, that's even more stressful. A wanted pregnancy is one thing; an unwanted pregnancy is a disaster.
So it is with Sydney Shepherd, who, while mired in final exams during her senior year, flunks a pregnancy test. Her story is told in flashbacks, as we are walked through Sydney's romantic history with high school boyfriend Ethan,...more

I downloaded this one for the kindle after seeing some positive reviews by friends on Goodreads. This novel alternates between the voices of Sydney, who finds herself with an unplanned pregnancy at the very end of her college career, and Grace, Sydney’s daughter who was the result of that pregnancy. The book covers the struggles Sydney goes through during her pregnancy, including romantic relationships, and also Grace’s concerns about her relationship with her biological father as she grows up.

Sydney Shephard is finishing up her senior year at Purdue when she realizes that she's pregnant. And the baby is not for her longtime boyfriend Ethan; it's the result of a drunken night with a friend named Kevin. Just when Sidney thinks her life can't get worse, Kevin declares that he wants absolutely nothing to do with Sydney or her child. Her parents don't have the nicest reaction to her news, either. Sydney must toughen up and face adulthood to make a life for herself and her daughter.

This was a cute story thats easy and enjoyable to read. The writing wasn't anything great and at times felt very procedural like "I told my mom xyz and she was pleased and said she would do abc" but I actually liked the writing style in that it felt like Sydney was opening up to tell a friend her story. I understand from a plot perspective why the author included Grace's point of view, but every time she started narrating I wanted to go back to Sydney.

I honestly have mixed feelings about this book as well. The cover, title and synopsis were an intriguing mix, which obviously compelled me to request it. Though, it's completely different than I had expected it to be.
Alright, well, Dina's writing wasn't bad, and the story in itself was a quick read, which was good. The book went back and forth in time as well as in between characters that it got confusing. Though, it was an interesting choice of writing skill. I would have appreciated it more, h...more
