This is the 4th Molly Harper title that I have read and it's official, I'm a fan! I will definitely be checking out her Nice Girls series sooner than later. That being said, The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires is a feel-good-read that's sure to put a smile on your face. Amanda Ronconi's narration is cheerful and bouncy, the how-to tips at the beginning of each chapter are giggle-worthy and Harper's writing is injected with some good ol' fashion Southern charm. The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires was just the cute, light and humorous read that I needed. In this 'Nice Girls...' spin off, leading lady and errand girl to the undead, Iris, is not as funny as Jane but Iris is still very likable - and in a first person story that is so key. I liked the fact that Iris gets a vamp of her very own, despite her breaking her own rules about fraternizing with 'the fanged' and even though Cal, who is not one to take notice of humans, is grumpy enough that the re...more

As always Molly Harper has brought the snark and sassy in The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires. This is the second book in the Half Moon Hollow series, which is a spin-off from Harper’s Jane Jameson series.
TCFSV almost read like the 1st book in the spin-off series instead of the second. There was more mention of Jane in this one than Driving Mr. Dead. And Iris was thinking of adding a transport service to her vampire concierge business. But Driving Mr. Dead was the start of the transp...more

In this, the first novel in the Half Moon Hollow books, which are a spin off from the Nice Girls Don't series we meet Iris Scanlon, the Half-Moon Hollow's only daytime vampire concierge. Basically, her job is to do all the things that vampires can't/don't want to do--which usually involve things like getting tax papers, letting in the plumber, shopping for them, finding antique porcelein dolls. . . No, seriously, that's one of the things she has to do--which I totally loved, btw--a vampire that...more
Iris Scanlon runs a daylight help service for vampires, their every fickle, bizarre and obscure demand she patiently fulfills and asks no questions. It isn't very glamourous but she fills a niche in the business of making money from vampires, and she sticks to a few very strict rules, like never meeting her vampire clients, never being in the vampire neighbourhood when the sun goes down and never inviting them to her home. Of course, after dripping over a poisoned (but very sexy) vampire named C...more
Second in the Half Moon Hollow paranormal romance series with ties to characters in Harper's Jane Jameson series. The couple focus in this story is on Iris Scanlon and Cal Calix. Hmmm, flowery names...

This is a fun read with slightly nuts characters in a warm small town setting with a great sense of life. Yeah, a vampire-centric novel with life in it! The twist that vampires put on it simply makes it more interesting. I love that Harper has included, even in this small way, the primary Ja...more

THere is something about Molly Harper's story and writing style that keeps me laughing and satisfied. This lady could might as well be a stand-up comedian skript writer because of her witty dialogues and great sense of humour.
“Wait, he’s injured? Your vampire is injured? Iris, you didn’t pick this guy up while he was hitchhiking or something, did you?”
“Yes, Jane, I did. In fact, he was holding a sign that said, ‘I need a ride, and I’m probably going to end up draining the moron who stops for me...more

Iris is the concierge to vampires in Half Moon Hallow this means she does all the things vampires cannot do in the day time, event planning. delivering blood, shipping packages, etc. On top of running her business she is the guardian to her sister and she is trying to manager her on/off again relationship with an ex boyfriend. Then one day Iris is in the middle of her very long to do list when she trips over Calix also known as Cal. Cal is a vampire, he has come to Half Moon Hallow to investigat...more

I liked Iris in Driving Mr. Dead and, while I didn't find myself loving her a quickly as I did Miranda from that novella, I came to completely adore her in The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires. Iris was good, humorous, a hard worker and wary of vampires. Her healthy uncertainty and fear of vampires was actually what drew me to her. So often in UF/PNR the heroines are so brave and fearless from the get go that they act stupidly. They insist on being part of fights where they stand no chance, ig...more
I listened to this book a few months back on my kindle and totally forgot to review it!!! Not sure how I could forget to review such a great book! Molly Harper is one of my all time favorite authors and I love her snarky, fun writing style that just has me laughing. Listening to her books is so much better than just reading them, I mean it adds so much because they have an awesome narrator.

Another awesomely funny tale from Molly Harper. With all the wit and snark of her other books and an uptight Vampire..you have to read this.

I like a book with a sense of humor, and this one hits the mark. Banter between all the characters is well-done throughout the book. So many laugh-out-loud moments, and a few great tongue-in-cheek references to traditional urban fantasy tropes.
The male lead was a nice change of pace from other soft erotica - not only sexy and good-looking, but also an interesting *person*. The female lead was strong and competent, able to save herself and work in concert with the male lead to accomplish plot goa...more

I’ll start off by saying first off I love Molly Harper. I fell in love with her “Naked Werewolf” series, and when I saw the title to her latest book, I was sold. I can always count on Molly Harper for a fun, entertaining read and The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires is no exception. I could not lay this book down! While some of the topics in TCAFSV are not new, the Great Coming Out, which has been done by several vampire authors Harper’s approach to her vampire world is unique. What I loved mo...more
I'll be straight up with you: Iris is not Jane. She has some similarities to her, but this is not Jane. I'm saying this because I know that some of us will be going into this hoping to read a voice very similar to Jane. I didn't realize it until about halfway through, but I was kind of one of those people.
The good is that I do like Iris. I'd never really thought of her as anything other than an uber-efficient vampire concierge. This book teases out more of her character and I'm glad about that....more

Read this in one day, and it's over 300 pages. Funny, plenty of mystery and some action. Very little language, and the little bit of sex is relatively clean. Sarcastic humor, just like in the Jane Jameson series also by Harper. Jane, Andrea, & Jolene are in this book for a really cute & funny scene. Their husbands are mentioned, but not in the book. This is book 2, and is about Iris & Cal. Iris runs a concierage service for vampires. Picking up drycleaning, letting in workers fixing...more
The title of this book first caught my eye in a small SciFi/Gaming bookstore in Cambridge, MA, however the cover gave me pause as it looked like the rejected stock photo for a cheesy Harlequin story. I kept it in mind but didn't pick it up until Eloisa James listed it in one of her Barnes & Noble Romance Reader Columns. Fortunately, this book turned out to be one that proves the rule to not judge a book by its cover. I took the plunge one day at about 10 pm, little realizing I wouldn't be ab...more
There is a famous movie that I'm sure you all know just by hearing the words "You had me at hello". I was enthralled (good word for a vampire book, eh?) from the moment I read : I grunted, sliding my hands under his shoulders and thrusting my arms up with all my strength. I barely budged him, and when my arms gave out, he slumped down over my chest making it even more difficult to breathe. And I'd sent the one other person with the key away for several days. I would die on my bathroom floor, cov...more
Let me start by saying that I am a huge Molly Harper fan. When I purchased this book I thought it was going to be a continuation of “Driving Mr. Dead” and her antics with Collin Sutherland. I wish it had been.
I love Molly’s books because I can escape from reality and laugh out loud. I kinda, sorta did that with this book but it was not as funny as her others. It did have the mixture of funny situations, bossy vampire and feisty female, annoying teenager and had me laughing but not out loud like...more

Molly Harper has done it again. I love this author and her Nice Girls series, featuring Jane Jameson. The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires is a spin-off set in the world of Jane Jameson. Iris Scanlon is human. She works for vampires, doing their "day walking". Taking care of things they cant, filling their sometimes strange requests.

First book I've read by this author.
I liked this book. It has the snarky human heroine Iris pitted against the alpha vampire Cal who are forced to join forces to solve a threat against the vampire population in the form of poisoned blood. It's a humor/suspense read that is well written and entertaining with a cast of secondary characters that add so much in terms of depth and world building.
The format is a m/f romantic read that is steamy hot but not erotic. I would have liked to have felt a li...more

THE CARE AND FEEDING OF STRAY VAMPIRES by Molly Harper
THE CARE AND FEEDING OF STRAY VAMPIRES is the new (August 2012) release and spin-off from Molly Harper’s Jane Jameson Nice Girls series. I was introduced to the writings of Molly Harper through her Naked Werewolf series and thought I would give Jane Jameson a try. Iris Scanlon is a very talented woman. She has made a business helping vampires. She is a wedding planner, party planner, personal shopper, personal assistant...... the list goes on.
Iris receives clients through the counsel a lot of the time. Iris might work with vampires but she does not trust the vampires. The exception to this is Jane and Andrea which has earned some of her trust. Because of this Iris is sure to make her rounds and deliveries to the vampires homes before sundown when she woul...more

The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires by Molly Harper
Molly Harper's books never seem to let me down. I love re-reading them when I've had too much of the overly brooding angst that so many of today's speculative fictions book seem to have. While Ms Harpers male protagonists do seem to be a tad dark, there is always a bit of sly wit running through them, you just know that they want to let go of their dark and broody character and let go with a good belly laugh. And as luck would have it, that i...more

Molly Harper is consistently one of my favorite Paranormal Romance authors. Her books are always funny, amusing and great for that "beach reading" mood.
This book is no different, as it plays off the romance of a Vampire go-to girl/wedding planner, Iris (I'm thinking J-lo in Wedding Planner) and the sexy, sexy Greek Vampire Cal (to me this guy would be more Joe Manangeliano with paler skin). Iris has to nurse a poisoned Cal back to life as they work on solving the mystery of why Vamps are being...more
