As the line between monster and human blurs, Mara fights for Sebastian’s life. She is consumed by her fears that no matter what she decides, she will lose the man she loves forever- to death- or to the Nevermore drug that rages through him.

In a desperate move, Mara pins all her hopes on a garbled, intercepted message. At best it is the distant promise of a safe haven and...more

Dauntless is the third book of Shannon Mayer's Nevermore trilogy, a Zombie-ish Apocalypse novella series.

In this final installment, be prepared for death to come knocking, as the apocalypse and monsters stretch the bonds of love and friendship, demanding a reckoning of those who are willing to do what they must to survive.

When "I Am Legend" meets "Resident Evil," the Nevermores in this trilogy are similar to the "vampires" in I Am Legend with their feral pack mentality, and the cause of the chan...more

Writing this final book was at times, heartbreaking even for me, knowing what was coming. What characters would make it, who would have to say goodbye and how I wrapped it all up I knew would make the difference between an ok book and a book that people wouldn't forget.

Thank you for following Mara and Sebastian through this journey of theirs. It has been an awesome ride for me, one that was unexpected and more fun than I could have imagined. I think that you will all be surprised by how their s...more

"An Instinct For Survival"
I'm hooked on this great trilogy written by Author Shannon Mayer. I highly recommend reading Books One and Two before this last episode. Each book is well written, well edited, and presents a fast-paced, intriguing story. Mara is still pregnant, trying to survive for her unborn child. She seems much empowered with her ability to gain respect from the Nevermores. She has reached the scientific complex strongly protected where the Nevermore vaccine was developed. Now ther...more

I'm thoroughly addicted to the world of the Nevermores. Beautifully told- a mix of the apocalyptic world after the Nevermore shot, the struggle to keep going among the survivors, the struggle to keep some small part of humanity among a few of the Nevermores, and above all, the love between Mara and Sebastian. Several scenes brought tears to my eyes, crying along with Mara as she parted with those you hoped would be there until the bitter end. The author left the series open for continuation- and...more

I loved this trilogy because it was different from anything I had ever really read before - and what can I say? From the first page in the first book, I loved the world that is so wonderfully created and I just thoroughly enjoyed reading each instalment. I just flew through because I HAD to know what happened next - and I was happily surprised each time!

These were the first 'zombie' books that I ever wanted to read, but ever since I've been hooked on reading about the undead! But still Mara and...more

Loved this book and those series!

As Nevermores grew smarter, so our heroes grew braver and more resourceful. Mara and Sebastian had certainly won my heart with their beautiful love and loyalty to each other. I kept turning pages, finishing this read in one evening.

I love the way this story flowed, with just the right amount of action to keep the reader on edge, and the perfect amount of love and humanity, even for the Nevermores.

This last book in the series wraps the whole story most nicely an...more

What an amazing ending to an amazing series. I would recommend these books to anyone. Whether or not zombie stories are your first choice, there is a type of strength, will to survive and love in these characters that anyone would be easily drawn into.

The story keeps you at the edge of your seat and you can't wait to find out what happens next. Every time a chapter ended I had to keep going. In a world such as that of the Nevermores no one is safe, and the author shows that. But despite the dea...more

This 3 book series was a nice change of pace for me. I typically read a lot of romance novels and this book was different. It's a love story all twisted up into a world of zombie-ish monsters. I have already recommended this series to a few of my friends. It's a different twist from the typical love story and the characters are ones you won't forget. You will even be surprised by some of the characters that you will fall in love with. It's and easy and fun read if you're looking for something a...more

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I got Dauntlesss as a free download from Amazon.

Dauntless the third and last book in the Nevermore trilogy picks up where Bound the second book in the series left off as Bound did with Sundered the first book. Mara has learned of a cure for the Nevermore virus. She escapes from the army facility with Sebastian in tow of course. Mara would never leave the one she loves behind at least not with the knowledge that there actually maybe a cure...more

I read all the books in this series in less than two days. I am a technology junkie and haven't picked up an actual book since I got my Kindle two years ago. This has allowed me to find and read a lot of authors I would have never before known, and for that I am very pleased. More power to the Indie do it yourself writers that are out there.

Shannon Mayer has a good premise for this series, and she titles the book well as a zombie-ish apocalypse type book. I like anything zombie and love when pe...more

A stellar finish--too bad it is over!

Loved the last book in the Nevermore Trilogy! Exciting and suspenseful to the end. I can’t recommend this trilogy enough but remember, it is a trilogy. Start from the beginning not only because it will make more sense but because you will not want to miss one word from this incredible author. Oh, and download them all at the same time. You won’t want to wait the couple minutes it will take Amazon to deliver the next book before can you start reading!

I was very satisfied with the ending. I often feel like authors rush the endings into the last chapter. I want a little more depth after I've invested the time to read an entire series. This was well done and I got the sense that author knew where she was going with the series and didn't falter in achieving a good end to a nice series. I will read more from this author and recommend the series.

I blew through this entire trilogy in one day. This installment was just as good, if not better than the other two. It was action packed, fast paced and even though we lost some beloved characters, I was happy with the ending.

Super ending! Not everybody made it but that was to be expected. Thank you Mrs. Mayer for making Mara and Sebastian's love so strong and unconditional! Looking back this was a great read, I liked a lot.

This would be a pretty good novella if indeed it were a novella. Instead it is one novel arbitrarily cut into thirds. These are not stand alone books. I want to downgrade it because of what I consider a rather unkind marketing ploy, but if I judge it according to quality of writing and story, I have to give it a 5-star rating. Warning: this third part was harder to read than the other parts since many of the characters met an ugly end, but that is pretty much expected in this genre.

Really wondering how she is going to manage to end this!
I enjoyed this quick little series. Exciting and with really good characters. Not a weak panicky female in sight!
Hannah
Nice series, though it really could have worked as one book, too. Fast based and interesting; the pages just keep turning!
Katrina
Liked it, cheer for the little "wins" throughout the book, loved that she brought back a certain little character from previous books
Elizabeth
Great series and I liked the fact that this was broken into smaller "novelettes" versus one long book. Great job!

I needed a little more of a definitive ending, but I'm not sure if that's possible or what it would entail.

After reading the first two books in Shannon Mayer's Nevermore Series, I was excited to read Dauntless. I couldn't wait to find out what she had lined up for Mara and Sebastian next.
Ms. Mayer didn't disappoint. The book was filled with action and a forward momentum that kept me up last night trying to finish it.
The characters remained well developed as did the plot.
The book was a great ending to The Nevermore Series.
Stevie
A great ending to a great story. really enjoyed the entire trilogy!
Shirley
This series was great! I couldn't wait to read the next book.
Amy
Great ending to a great story. Loved it.
Mary
ok series
Tricia
Probably my least favorite in the trilogy.
Randy Harmelink
A good book for the end of the trilogy. However, it was my least favorite of the three. I just never really got into it like I did the first two. Maybe because the escapes in this book were just too much to take compared to the first two books.

But a great trilogy, nonetheless.
Brittany

Reading and writing from a very young age I learned early on that stories built in a fantasy world were where the fun was at. Reading books by Robert Jordan spurred me on and it was the first real epic fantasy that I fell in love with. After that came Piers Anthony, Melanie Rawn and into my older teen years, Anne Rice.

It was in Rice’s novels that the idea of urban fantasy really bloomed for me and...more
