Most of the works in the book aren't really to my taste but I still thoroughly enjoyed it (I pick up nearly every mixed media book I see!).

Author Katie Kendrick does such a wonderful job of imparting her knowledge of a range of techniques including collage, using inks and crayons, painting faces, as well as making fabric art and working with cardboard, papier mache clay, encaustics and plaster. She guides the reader through several projects with clear and well-illustrated instructions, a bonus f

There is lots to like about this book, especially if you are just dipping your toes in the mixed media world, and I like the tie in with reaching out to your community with your art. The work is not really to my taste but the instructions for each of the 15 projects are clear and easy to follow and can definitely teach you some techniques and give ideas.
I cannot say enough good things about this book. I have been collecting art books for a long time now and this book had techniques that were new to me, which is really saying something. Katie's style is encouraging as well and I really liked the pay it forward type projects at the end of each section.
Good ideas and technics. Liked the poetry warm-ups a lot.

This book contained much of what Katie taught in her online class. There are some additions though that I really liked. It is great to e able to walk in her footsteps for awhile. To be able to see how she creates and how she thinks. Lots of great projects in here. This is the next best thing to taking a class from Katie herself.
